    Chris Parmelee is a free agent. He seems to hit lefties well and can play first base and right field. Wonder if he'd take a minor league deal seeing as Smoak is penciled in as our first baseman.

    I love Californication. It's so damn good. I think it's a little funny that whenever there is a sex scene it shows David Duchovny doing absolutely no work. I think the only scene he did was when he was drunk and knocked a painting off the wall.

    In my opinion Archer is the funniest show on TV right now. I can watch episodes 3 or 4 times and still laugh out loud each time.

    I wonder how the Padres farm stacks up now. Seems to me that after the Upton trade it will be pretty bare.

    It's just a group of Jocks trying to explain or making fun of something they don't understand.

    Managers and executives don't typically get great players when compensation is needed. Farrell got Aviles, Theo got a relief pitcher. If Angelos does let him leave I can't imagine the O's get back more than maybe a 2nd or 3rd tier prospect. By the way, how much would it suck to be stuck in a job where you can't even take a promotion if it comes available?

    I think AA has done fairly well overall. He has shown that he is a good drafter, and I believe he does fairly well in trades. His biggest flaw, in my opinion, is that he doesn't manage the 25 man roster well and because of that relies too heavily on the waiver wire. Perhaps his hits on Bats (I know he came to us as a trade), and EE has him more willing to try to find lightening in a bottle.

    I think he will attempt it. I believe I read in the Inquirer that he doesn't believe next year will be a competing year. It may not be a "full" rebuild or a correct one, it will be the most rebuilding they've done in forever.

    I could see a team who isn't very good or going through a rebuild (Astros, Phillies, etc) taking him and keeping him.

    And, I'm not a tax expert, but US citizens still have to pay the federal income tax for US as well even if their primary residency is in Canada so it's essentially double taxation. It's a big reason why many US citizens abroad are renouncing their citizenship.

    It's nice to see us getting a guy that can take a walk and get on base.

    Ichiro is a free agent. I know he's old but he still seems to get on base at a decent clip. I don't know how much he'd cost but i don't think he'd be a bad player to have as a semi regular.

    I saw Nessy play in Vancouver a couple years ago and from the seats and he didn't do anything useful. I understand that sometimes it's out of his control but I think he had 3 or 4 passed balls and 1 or 2 throwing errors in the game I saw. I know it's just one game but in this instance I think AAA pitching depth>maybe a depth catcher

    And you can't even say that that infield is great defensively. Only Goins is above average and the rest are at or below average. Edit: Two are above average when Lawrie isn't injured.

    It sucks when someone who is younger than me goes. It just shouldn't happen.

    I believe his problem was that he always swung for the fences and didn't make enough contact, correct? From the sound of the interview that a previous poster posted he is trying to create more contact and letting his power happen naturally. Too bad he couldn't do this when he was with us.

    I think all infield positions are hard in their own way. I think you have to be a little bit more athletic to play 2nd base but quicker reflexes are needed to play 3rd. It would be hard to fairly rank difficulty for the infield positions, in my opinion.

    Apparently our ex-Buffalo first baseman Dan Johnson is learning to throw a knuckleball. Someone should tell him if he learns to catch one he may be able to replace Thole.

    AA's ultimate goal is to have the entire pitching staff of Buffalo on the 40 man roster, just in case.

    Hinske was drafted by the Cubs, traded to the A's, and played in the minors with both those teams. After he was traded to Toronto for Billy Koch he did not play one game in the minors before his ROY season. I think the last few position players that were developed by this organization that meant something would probably be Vernon Wells, Chris Woodward, Orlando Hudson, Rios, and a few more mid-2000s guys. This is just based off my memory but I don't think there has been any developed "impact" position players since 2010.
