  1. I believe his problem was that he always swung for the fences and didn't make enough contact, correct? From the sound of the interview that a previous poster posted he is trying to create more contact and letting his power happen naturally. Too bad he couldn't do this when he was with us.
  2. I think all infield positions are hard in their own way. I think you have to be a little bit more athletic to play 2nd base but quicker reflexes are needed to play 3rd. It would be hard to fairly rank difficulty for the infield positions, in my opinion.
  3. Apparently our ex-Buffalo first baseman Dan Johnson is learning to throw a knuckleball. Someone should tell him if he learns to catch one he may be able to replace Thole.
  4. AA's ultimate goal is to have the entire pitching staff of Buffalo on the 40 man roster, just in case.
  5. Hinske was drafted by the Cubs, traded to the A's, and played in the minors with both those teams. After he was traded to Toronto for Billy Koch he did not play one game in the minors before his ROY season. I think the last few position players that were developed by this organization that meant something would probably be Vernon Wells, Chris Woodward, Orlando Hudson, Rios, and a few more mid-2000s guys. This is just based off my memory but I don't think there has been any developed "impact" position players since 2010.
  6. If you spend several months a year with AAA depth in your starting lineup because that's all you have, the failure is not on you.
  7. I'd say that's probably right. Give Pompey a half a year in Buffalo and if he's doing well call him up. Gose is a good bench piece, and his defense if valuable but he just isn't as good of hitter as Pompey.
  8. I'd like to keep the Bulldog. I think he offers more on the field than he would get on the trade market.
  9. Pompey has adapted fairly well every time he was moved up. Gose hasn't. Gose should feel heat.
  10. Haha. Good one. Anyone else think we should just use fun pictures from around the internetz in the game days instead of real pitchers?
  11. I think Hutch had a good year. Overall he averaged less than a hit an inning, a K an inning, and about a 3:1 K:B ratio. I'll take that.
  12. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Jeter was the most recognized baseball player in the world. Maybe that's what he meant.
  13. I saw on MLB Traderumors that a decent amount of player development contracts are up this year with minor league affiliates. Does anyone know if any of ours are up?
  14. I just caught up on this thread and jaysblue is on fire with the gifs.
  15. Barney Tallet rocks the Bill Murray look well.
  16. I doubt it will ever happen but I'd like to see the Jays make a run at Victor Martinez. Man can hit.
  17. It's silly to declare someone the 9th inning man when our general manager gets off on acquiring every available relief arm that hits the wire.
  18. Does anyone here think Thon is even of minimal value anymore? While I haven't seen him play just based on his stats he seems to lack hitting ability.
  19. It's a good move for the Rays. They have to catch lightening in a bottle a lot more than other teams and Wagner is a good risk for them. He's not a bad pitcher and they got him for a good price.
  20. That would be awesome actually. He could then be crowned King Troll.
  21. C.J. Wilson will only blow up when a team bunts the entire game. He will get so frustrated his head will explode.
  22. Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't the problem with JPR that he drafted too conservatively (Moneyball) and then sold much of the farm to get Major League players (higher dollars)?
  23. I think next year I'm going to get it too. I only get to watch the Jays once or twice a year when they play the Phillies or another big market team. When I had satellite it would always show either Blue Jays/Yankees or Red Sox/Rays on MLB Network and my market wouldn't end up with the Jays game. Always a let down. Now that I don't even have satellite I have to try to find streaming sites that have them but they are few and far between. Blah.
  24. That extra computer shut down Tampa Bay's power grid. Get him!
  25. Navarro has more wind resistance to deal with. He's lucky he got to 2nd.
