  1. "Who cares if the Yankees bid more." It's not like he (Tanaka) would be in New York during the winter if he didn't want to be. The only time he'd have to be there is during the baseball season.
  2. Not too much -30 windchill during the baseball season.
  3. http://blogs.thescore.com/mlb/2014/01/14/the-masahiro-tanaka-power-rankings-i-am-the-one-who-tanaks/ "In other words, it’s Dodgers and Yankees or bust. Surely another team can jump up and snatch the brass ring but how many destinations outside of New York and Los Angeles seem even plausible. None, that’s how many. The new MLB, same as the old. Same as it ever was, really. " Yeah. I'd be pretty surprised if we went anywhere else. And then there's this:
  4. no apparently that's too short. Nononononononononono
  5. Well clearly MLB thinks he either did that, or something worse. It's still under the whole 'suspension for PEDs' umbrella.
  6. We don't know what Arod did though. Anyway, the people complaining that it helps the Yankees and whatever, two things: First, Arod is still by far the best option at 3B for them. Now they have to play the whole season with someone worse. And two, it's not like the rules have just been made up now. This is the way it's always been: a player is suspended for PEDs, they don't get paid, and the team doesn't have to pay. This is MLB going after Arod, not trying to help New York.
  7. What a soap opera.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if Rogers/Beeston won't let him do anything. After the debacle last year they might not want to greenlight any more payroll bumps.
  9. Hope he goes to the NL. We're not getting him.
  10. Who cares that he gets on base 39% of the time in his career? We want dingerzz!
  11. Yes I agree. Remember also that though the team won 85 games last year, they were lucky to do that given their pythag. It's an old team as well so have to expect some erosion due to age. They've added parts but also lost Granderson, Cano, Pettite, Rivera, and some other pieces. Without doing any fancy stats they feel like they might be an 85 win 'true talent' team right now given an AL East sched.
  12. The other thing is, it's not like the team has been rife with success. How wedded to the roster do you really wanna get?
  13. Teach him the knuckler.
  14. I just find this whole pitcher win thing funny. Even hockey fans aren't dumb enough to judge goalies much by win-loss record, that I can tell.
  15. I mean really, too bad just adding homers and rbizz doesn't actually tell much of anything.
  16. jesus f***
  17. Yay. Absolutely. Won't happen though.
  18. Well MLB operates on a much higher economic level. But yeah, it's kind of funny.
  19. Wellllll better this than them getting obp monster Choo
  20. Oh, some team is gonna be dumb and trade for this guy. 'Proven closer', makin lotsa money.
