Teams are pretty blatant about it though, and have been for a while. The Cubs did it with Kris Bryant in 2015, and the Braves are doing it with Ronald Acuna now. Teams will take any advantage they can.
Yes. It might suck for the players to have to accumulate 6 (or in some cases close to 7) years before they hit free agency, but I think it helps competitive balance. If players hit FA earlier then obviousy the small market teams couldn't keep them as long.
I've never seen a 3B who couldn't throw across the diamond like that. Donaldson's shoulder must be really f***ed. This is not good.
Last year he had some injuries but it was mostly calf issues. His arm was fine when the season ended. What happened?
Yeah. It sucks that, while the Jays are ranked 7th in all of MLB, two of the six teams in front of them are in their own division...and one of those is the freaking Yankees, who are already good at the major league level. Gah.
Jays win arbitration case over Osuna; he'll get 5.3M instead of the 5.8M he asked for.
That only leaves Stroman's salary to be determined....and then the pre-arb guys I guess.
