  1. Yeah people will come out and watch on tv if the team is winning or it seems they're poised to. But I've never heard anybody say Canada is baseball crazy, though.
  2. Does anyone make it out to be?
  3. lol They had one analytics guy? One?? In this day and age?
  4. Brettzky looks a lot better than he did early on, I must say.
  5. Perfectly positioned for another heartbreaking bullpen meltdown?
  6. Some other forums are pretty good for info, with a statistical bent...try battersbox.ca or bluebirdbanter.com
  7. Brewers blow a 5-4 lead with two outs in the ninth, but walk it off in the bottom half to beat NY. Boston only AL East team to win today.
  8. I said this at the beginning of the year, looking at the AL East I don't see any teams that look that much better than anyone else, or that much worse. Looks pretty even to me, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. If this team can stay moderately healthy and (finally) be a bit lucky, they could be in the mix for something come August and September.
  9. I read that as 'Stoeten is at his highest value right now....' and I thought, yeah, that makes sense.
  10. yeah but their xxxFIP indicates their xxFIP will regress
  11. Maybe but I'm sure the Yankees were expecting quite a bit more with the stick. It is early, we'll see.
  12. True. It's strange to see the entire AL East with -ve run differentials and the division collectively under .500, and it's almost May.
  13. Brian McCann has been pretty s***** at the plate so far...224/267/353, 71 OPS+
  14. Our long national nightmare is finally over
  15. Just doing a quick calculation with the splits data, it looks like 47 of the Jays 99 runs (47.5%) have been scored off the homerun...I think the MLB average is not much below that, maybe low 40s.
  16. I didn't know there was another Brett Lawrie. We should try to acquire that one because ours has looked pretty terrible at the dish.
  17. Tillman really has become their ace...then again he has given up 10 dingers in just 36 career innings in this park.
  18. I don't know what the WAR numbers are on Alomar, but it should be said that there were some people who did believe he was overrated defensively who did see him play, back in the day. Bill James is one of those.
  19. No I get that. They've actually been really good with the bats. I don't think this team will end up anywhere near the top of the league in wRc or anything like that though. I see it as maybe a league average offense when all is said and done. They will live or die by that rotation.
  20. Actually just checked the stats, and you're right. Totally surprised me. Everytime I see scores it seems like they've struggled on offense. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYY/2014.shtml And this is why it seemd that way. They're only 9th in the AL in runs, despite being top 3 in avg/obp/slg. I still maintain the team is not going to be that good with the bats. Still early.
