    Donaldson and Martin just won their case against them. CRA is appealing but it's a good sign for Vlad and other Blue Jays moving forward.

    Right and then they can still play around with the remaining 15 mil or whatever it is per year if there is a work stoppage? Probably not that big of a deal.

    So what does this mean? In the event of a work stoppage they can still monkey around with the remaining 175 million?

    They will definitely be in on Tucker. I highly doubt they get him but I bet they try and they will finish in the Top 3 again.

    Yeah his PT is absolutely screwed no matter what. But given his age I think he might be able to survive a demotion as a seldom used bench warmer. His spot is unlikely to play much so it's hard to see them using Barger (he's another lefty anyway), Leo Gimenez (who has been hurt) or Orelvis in that spot since they need everyday ABs to develop. Stefanic could make sense as an infielder and right handed hitter but he's not on the 40-man. I suppose Clase could be an option if they feel they could carve out a role for him? He's off to a fast start and is a switch-hitter but he's kind of like Straw and they might want Clase playing more to develop too. Or I guess they could keep Schneider and just play him less. His last 400 ABS have been BRUTAL though.

    This is a good start for Van Eyk in a do or die year. Has a little pedigree as a former 2nd rounder and Fangraphs pegged him as our #5 prospect in 2022. But he didn't even get a mention in the "Other Prospects of Note" section of our 2025 writeup. If he pitches like this maybe he can move up to AAA soon and become a 40-man guy who provides some depth.

    Some of our non-prospect pitching depth is doing pretty well so far. Lauer's ERA is bloated due to a low LOB% but he's running some good peripherals so far in two starts and is throwing 5 innings. If s*** hits the fan he might not kill you as a primary pitcher for a month. Josh Walker is off to a great start in just 2.1 innings with 4 Ks and 0 walks. Dillon Tate is logging decent innings after his abbreviated spring and looks like he could be a potential Barnes replacement.

    Will be interesting to see what they do when Varsho is back. My guess is they just go lefty heavy and option Schneider. Varsho back in the OF means Santander is a more permanent DH unless he's giving old man Springer a half day off Roden/Straw platoon in the OF though I'd expect Roden to play against some lefties still Wagner/Clement platoon at 3B Lukes can toil away on the bench which is fine since he's a 30 year old rookie. If they feel they are too OF heavy they could go for Stefanic in this role but he's not on the 40-man

    Yeah Gausman is looking more like a #3 these days than the ace he was a couple years ago. The velo appears to be back which gives me some hope that he can recapture some of his former glory but the splitter doesn't seem to be splitting as much anymore

    He throws his fastball a ton. Almost 60%. Gets good rise on it which is about the only above average movement shown on his pitches via statcast. Opposing batters are 1 for 20 against it, the lone hit being a single lol. Seems like hitters might adjust to that but then he can counter-adjust by throwing his junk more often. His heat maps look excellent to me. He attacks the zone vertically with high fastballs and low changeups. Sliders and sweepers are low and away or up and in. Having elite framers has to help. Deception might be really good. Three quarters slot from a lefty with two pitches that tail in (one which rises) and two that break. The velos on the changeup and slider are exactly the same which isn't uncommon but helps.

    Trying to figure out how Lucas is accomplishing this. Nothing stands out which makes me think he’s more #4 or 5 starter material if he can stick. Maybe a lesser Justin Steele? Lefty with okay velocity, a couple decent pitches, and a couple more he can locate? Admittedly, my expertise is more in trashing our AL East rivals with insults than it is dissecting pitching so someone who knows more on the topic might be able to shed more light.

    I said I hope Fangraphs does a deep dive on Lucas' first two starts. You replied: "A little early for that. Long way to go." I don't understand why it's a "little early for that." Fangraphs writes about the must mundane s*** you can imagine. Including today when Landen Roupp (one mediocre four inning start so far) and Hayden Birdsong (a long reliever) got big writeups today, Not sure why this is so complicated my friend.

    No it's not. I can tell from your posts you don't read Fangraphs but they just wrote one on Landen Roupp and Hayden Birdsong today lol. Decent chance they'll dive into Lucas' first couple of starts in some capacity

    Now that he dominated a big market team hopefully Fangraphs or someone gives us a big write up on him Hasn't given up a run in 10.1 innings, 11 Ks, only 4 hits, 3 BBs
