  1. That is true that we don't have any depth at CF next season but on the flipside we can now start a non-turd at 2B. Starting 2B > AAA CF Depth And I know if it were up to you you wouldn't be starting a turd (Kawasaki, Goins, etc.) at 2B, but for now the move is an improvement. I also bet that the organization feels that Pompey has passed Gose, thus making Gose even more expendable so getting a guy who can start at 2B is a nice move in their eyes. And I don't disagree with the FO, I do like the move. But it's not very inspiring. Talent wise it's damn near a wash we just traded someone who was somewhat expandable for a similarly talented player at a position of need.
  2. I thought it was just a "core" injury and that he started jogging 2.5 weeks after surgery.
  3. David Ortiz could never get paid like this.
  4. I believe BTS is factoring in pitch framing which I'm pretty sure the the WAR on Fangraphs doesn't include.
  5. What kind of commitment are you talking about? I just don't think he does much for us as a middling to poor fielder with a pretty mediocre bat and baserunning. Pompey in CF and Pillar/Gose in LF might be a better option.
  6. Agreed. A Gose/Pillar would be better IMO.
  7. Was this tweet referencing the Jays as being interested in Markakis posted yet?
  8. No biggie pal. Now I that I know you really hate him I won't push your buttons. I actually don't mind him when viewed through the prism that is Jays-centered journos/bloggers/etc. but that's because it's a pretty low standard. Cheers.
  9. You're cranky today.
  10. Are you still upset that he called the board "insufferable"?
  11. They guy was known as Drunk Jays Fans for a decade. Now the score owns that name and Stoeten can't take it with him. The only other name recognition he has is his real name, Andrew Stoeten. After getting kicked to the curb I can see him trying to drag his followers with him and the easiest way to identify himself is to use what is most recognizable.
  12. What's so bad about andrewstoeten.com? I don't get it.
  13. I have those same concerns but the one thing he does have going for him is that he's young for a FA. A 5 year deal only pays him through his age 32 season. I could see him holding up that long.
  14. Corner OF/1B isn't even a position of need either.
  15. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
  16. This trade isn't THAT bad. Lind is a platoon DH (or piss poor defensive 1B if you're willing) with big injury concerns that makes 7.5 million. He isn't going to get you much in a trade especially when one trick ponies like him are plentiful in FA (assuming your team doesn't already have a guy like him already). To get Estrada who is a serviceable swingman who will pull in around 4 million isn't that bad of a deal.
  17. Well you just rattled off 8 replacement level players. Right there would be a good start?
  18. Agreed. I'd rather have Francisco.
  19. That's ridiculous.
  20. It does make some sense and they've got a ton of money to spend so why not. But my point is that the cult of the GM is just way too overblown. There are 1000's of people out there who could be really good GM's.
  21. GM's and managers can be replaced. Their skillsets aren't as rare as good players. Rays ownership just needs to make the right hire at the top although there is definitely a chance that they are unable to do that.
