  1. Also depends on what other starters are available. Is anyone selling a SP better than Happ? I can't think of any but someone else might be able to. I took a look at who the free agent starting pitchers are next year and Happ ranks near the top of the list with guys like Gio and Keuchel also heading toward FA. But those guys are playing for contenders who won't be on the block during the trade deadline. So Happ is the best rental IMO. Not sure if anyone with multiple years of control will be on the block or not.
  2. Saying you don't like Verdugo because he has a similar profile to a failed prospect in Harold Ramirez would be like saying you didn't like Javier Baez in 2014 because he has a similar profile to a failed prospect in Brandon Wood. There are reasons to not like Verdugo though. I just don't think comparing him to failed prospects is a legit reason.
  3. Ok just saw this but it actually illustrates my point. Ramirez used to be an actual prospect. Prospects fail all the time. Ramirez did. Verdugo hasn't yet. He's gone on to AAA and done well while being a year younger and showing off better tools than Ramirez.
  4. You are making a false equivalency. There is a comparison to be made in that both are hit tool first guys who are going to be stuck in a corner OF spot but you have to do more analysis than that. Remember - Harold Ramirez used to be a prospect, he was on Pirates Top 10 lists. Then he fell off a cliff and is spending his third season in a row in AA at age 23. Verdugo never fell off the cliff. Instead, he went on to AAA where he put up another good season and a half and has gotten two cups of coffee in the big leagues. That's a huge difference that you are just throwing away, just because Ramirez failed to pan out doesn't mean that Verdugo has or will. Plus, Verdugo has more raw power, a better arm and is a year younger. Add it all up and the two aren't as similar as you think.
  5. I seriously cannot tell what is wrong and why King is acting like he's so above all of this. lol I'm not as big of a prospect hound as others and I know he is so if he could shed some light instead of just pissing in the cereal it'd be helpful.
  6. Why? People asking for too much or too little or what?
  7. How many starters are even going to be on the market? If Happ is the best one or close to it we could get a s*** load for him.
  8. I can't stand him. He's from TO and had good era and w-l so he was getting love from a lot of casual fans. I hate to root against anyone but I'm not sad that he's blowing up.
  9. Well fellas that was the first full game I've watched in over a week and let me tell ya...I think I'm ready for another week off. Holy f***ing s*** was that one frustrating.
  10. He's a rental but it's going to be good. Left handed starter who will be cheap ROS. He'll net us a prospect better than we deserve bc someone will pay up for a guy like that.
  11. Been saying it for months. Kevin Smith > Logan Warmoth.
  12. There are no guarantees whatsoever that Tucker and/or Bo will come up this year and rake so it's silly to make that equivalency. On top of it, Bo is a year older and Tucker is two years older than Soto so even if they do the younger guy deserves credit. And on top of it, of course he doesn't have a lengthy pro track record, the guy is in the big leagues at age 19 so it's not like he had a whole lot of time in the minors. For the brief period when he was there he mashed. If they want to stand by their #9 ranking they should have relied more on the argument that his ceiling is lower because of position/defense/speed.
  13. Steamer has him projected to hit wRC+ of 122 rest of season. That is insane. Bo Bichette his hitting 125 wRC+ in AA and he's a year older. I have no idea how you could rank Soto lower than Bichette given all that.
  14. Ranking him #9 is BAD. He could easily be as high as #1 but definitely belongs in the Top 5.
  15. Danny Jansen's bat certainly looks ready. Not sure where he's at defensively though.
  16. We are going to suck for a while, prob two more years at least. I like Shatkins but I hope ownership will be willing to endure through the losing in order to see their vision though.
  17. When the Jays are in it I'll watch at least part if not all of 150+ regular season games. Now that they are out of it so soon I'll back off a lot. I haven't watched a game in a week. There's no point I just get frustrated by it all. I'll still check the box scores each night and am keeping up with fantasy. If Vlad comes up I'll watch every game. I'll also start to get back into things during the trade deadline a lot. I'm hoping we can make some nifty deals.
  18. He looks like s*** no doubt about it. I'm definitely questioning him at this point.
  19. Awesome! I haven't been paying much attention so far but basically we took a guy earlier than he probably should have gone but are going to try and get him underslot. Then we picked this TCU guy later on and are going overslot for him?
  20. He can be our lone All-Star rep.
  21. He looks like s*** in that video until he finally hits a homer around 3:40. But I'm not a scout so I can't really say much about it other than that. His swing does look funny but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.
  22. I don't doubt it. Someone doesn't throw 500 bucks around like that if they can't afford it but it's still a nice amount of money.
  23. Say what you want about Tercet but the guy has some integrity. He could have just walked away but instead ponied up 500 bucks! That's a nice chunk of change.
