Rodon is scary with that player option but it also lessens his cost and he could be a game changer as a frontline starter in the playoffs. Cobb's injury risk is high but he's cheap and he's got another year. I agree, both would be great targets. Seems like the Giants might not be selling though.
We could really really use a starting pitcher. As of now we are relying on Stripling and Kikuchi as our #4-5 to carry us down the stretch and that's probably ok in theory. Stripling looks fine but I worry some about his workload. Kikuchi is a total wild card but he's the #5.
The real problem is we have only Max Castillo in case of injury or Kikuchi not performing. I think we are a pretty solid lock for the playoffs but a couple of injuries to the rotation and it could tank our chances. We just need someone who can get through 5 innings with an ERA under 5.
That's a 10 second conversation.
"Hey guys, guess what. You're moving to Toronto. You're going to live at the Marriott for the rest of the year. We chartered a flight from Miami to Tampa. Prepare to slay the Yankees in the playoffs and win the World Series. See you tonight."
Drive a car, take a bus bus or boat, f***ing swim if you have to but get your asses to Tampa tomorrow. Geezus.
Frankly, they should be there tonight. We need all hands on deck against Tampa they own us at the Trop.
Yeah with his defense and base running being pretty solid he's a decent 26th man. But if the bat improves to career norms you basically have a good strong side platoon player.
Wait a second here. Didn't Ross get that lady running the Marlins to give him Adam Cimber for Joe Panik last year? This woman has no idea what she's doing lmao
GO ROSS GO
We'd all love more swing and miss high velo relievers but so does everyone one else in the league. Ross is trying to exploit a market inefficiency by acquiring good relievers who are cheap because they don't throw hard. We don't have the best bullpen but it might be middle of the pack by the end of the deadline and we've barely poured any resources into it.
Solid.
I had some sticker shock on this one at first but the more you dive into it the better it looks. This time next year Groshans might not get us anything. Dude is ass in AAA this year with an 82 wRC+. Jays made a similar trade in dumping Austin Martin before the rest of the league caught on and it turns out he sucks too.
I thought Bass was all vetrin presents but he's actually a solid middle reliever with an affordable year of control after this one. Pop looks good as is but it looks like he has an extra level that could get him into an effective late inning guy.
Good trade Ross. Now let's see some more.
I basically agree with this. With some tweaks the Jays could have matched the Padres offer but there is one major roadblock that prevented it and that’s the fact that our main trade chip in Moreno is probably the only position that the shitbag Nats don’t need.
