  1. Someone from the Jays subreddit I'm sure
  2. No one is lining up to play in Pitt or Colorado because they don't offer Free Agents good contracts, deferrals or not.
  3. This isn't true. The net present value calculations that are done essentially close off all potential loopholes that big spending teams could exploit. The only thing that needs to be addressed is that fans need to realize that the reported contract terms aren't that actual terms when deferrals are involved. The real dollar amounts are the net present value. Best example is Ohtani. He signed for a reported 10 years, 700 million but that number is all fugazi. He really signed for 10 years, 460 million, the terms of which fell in line with what he was projected to get. If MLB instituted a salary cap and got rid of deferrals, the Jays would be absolutely screwed and the Texas and Florida teams would gain a huge advantage.
  4. Deferrals and signing bonuses are a great way to level the income tax disparities between teams. MLB needs to keep those in place, despite the majority of fans not understanding how it all works.
  5. The fan in me wants Bo back but if we sign Tucker this team is a gauntlet. There's a chance the Jays can keep him healthy and he puts it all together for a 6+ WAR season.
  6. A couple of fun facts regarding Okamoto. His nickname is "The Young General" and he's the only player that the Yomiuri Giants have ever posted.
  7. Old Man Steinbrenner is rolling over in his grave. The second the Dylan Cease move was announced he would have signed Kyle Tucker before the ink could even dry on the Cease contract. The best Junior can do is bring back Rosario and Yarbrough. Pathetic.
  8. Andruw Jones gets docked points by me for the highly regarded way he spells his first name. Give me Jim Edmonds any day over him.
  9. DFA'ing Straw is a good idea in a similar sense as Yariel. Useful but you don't really mind if his money was freed up off the books either, so it would kind of be a win-win. That said, I think he has more service time than Yariel which makes keeping him after a DFA harder to do.
  10. Since he signed with the Jays* I'd like to go on record that I think this guy has it all: power, contact and good 3B defense. He's going to make the All-Star team. *If the Yankees signed him I would have said that he's a slap hitting DH
  11. The projection systems have readjusted after Okamoto signed. Steamer thinks he’s a 113 wRC+ hitter with 2.5 WAR in 130 games now.
  12. This team is friggin' stacked I bet we see a trade or two. Lots of cheap teams out there who could use Taters (eat some $$$), Berrios (eat some $$$), Lukes, Schneider, etc.
  13. Ross Atkins has signed the top FA starter, the top setup man, the best hitter in Japan the past few years, and the best starter in the Korean league last year. Brian Cashman brought back a side armer who throws 80 mph lmao
  14. Astros are trying to cut costs and they have a pricy closer...
  15. I highly doubt they sign all 3 but look at it this way. If they love Okamoto and can get him for 3/35M but they think he's more of a 4/72M player, do they really give a crap if they trade Taters and have to eat half his contract at that point? They'd still be coming out ahead on the total cost of Okamoto's contract.
  16. Murakami and Amai signed for so damn cheap that if Okamoto follows suit the Jays could sign him at a price that wouldn't prevent them from also signing Tucker and/or Bo. I assume Okamoto wants some sort of guarantees about playing time. But if the Jays like him and he's cheap they will sign him and figure out the rest later.
  17. Are the Yankees going to sign anyone this offseason? We’ve added more talent with our minor league deals
  18. Before Brock bought the message board, we were a last-place team and the site was a wretched hive of scum and villainy, filled with all sorts of perverts and degenerates (you know who I’m talking about). The old owner probably paid Brock to take it off his hands just to escape the legal liability of owning such a disgusting website. Since taking over, Brock not only dragged the platform out of its 1990s-era design, but he and the mods also cleaned up the sick behavior that used to be way too common around here. The team even went on to win the AL Pennant. If Brock ever gets tired of running a baseball message board, he should write a book on how to turn around failing businesses. Happy Anniversary, Jays Centre!
  19. Definitely but I'm not even sure it matters at this point. The cat is out of the bag and everyone assumes she did. Major fumble by Jizz to respond to that troll.
  20. Good signing at that price IMO
  21. I can’t remember where I read it, but a sabermetrics-minded writer I trust said Eflin is basically cooked and not worth touching. The fact he only got $10M seems to back that up. That said, the projections are fine, and he’s only a year removed from being solid and two from being really good, so it still feels like a good gamble to me.
  22. So did Jizz Chisholm's babe do Only Fans or not? We deserve to know.
