  1. Yeah I think nerves were a huge part of his defensive issues so I'm trying to give him some leeway but his body movements look super stiff out there. The nerves could perhaps make him tighten up even more but he's pretty buff for a baseball player. Just did not look natural out in the field at any point ever.
  2. Barger was too big of a liability in the field (for now) to continue to wait on his bat. Overall, I'm definitely down on him after this stint, as small of a sample size as it is. My view on his bat hasn't really changed much, but reports on his defense were all over the map. But after seeing him play the field it's hard to imagine him being an even average 3B or OF. Pair that with his bat and he seems like a bench player at best.
  3. Is it really that odd? We sucked with RISP for 2 out of 6 months last year and ended the year close to league average. We then suck the first month this year with RISP. What about that makes it so unlikely that it couldn't be a coincidence?
  4. Well that thing is happening again where we can't hit with RISP and it's not just boring it's infuriating. We are hitting close to league average overall, but almost dead last with RISP. Like last year, that should normalize and the team will be watchable again.
  5. Lukes is officially up and Barger was optioned back to AAA
  6. HUGE month for the team Ross Atkins' baseball life is literally on the line
  7. Rosenthal is discussing this very issue in his latest
  8. the Four Horseman of the Blue Jays Apocalypse
  9. In general, everyone gets to blame and fire the guy beneath them one time. If the guy beneath them wasn't their own hire then it doesn't count. Atkins: -"parted ways" with Gibby but it doesn't count bc Gibby wasn't his hire -hire and fired Montoyo -hired Schneider That's it for Atkins. He could fire Schneider but the team would have to make a deep playoff run. Shapiro: -"parted ways with AA" but doesn't count bc AA wasn't his guy -hired Atkins If Shapiro fires Atkins he will get to hire another GM. Probably wouldn't get to hire a 3rd one but maybe.
  10. This is just generic baseball talk that 100% of the board agrees with
  11. Yeah true, but Houston sucks and we also got spanked by the Rockies who also suck so it can explain the RD a little bit but it's also kind of scary. 15-17 isn't that big of a deal right now, but being a true talent 12-20 team kind of is.
  12. This is a sabremetric friendly message board. If you don't want to look under the hood and critically discuss why the front office might be failing and instead just want to look at the results to come to your conclusion, then you might be better off on Reddit or Twitter.
  13. It doesn't explain everything. Their offense has done well to score the 11th most runs against that Stuff but they are 9th in fewest runs allowed which has helped a lot. They are also over performing their pytho record.
  14. These jobs are hard to get, plenty of qualified people would shine Ross Atkins' shoes if they got to be his 1B. That said, I don't see the org giving Atkins more training wheels with a co-GM. I think he'll get the boot outright before something like that happens.
  15. Most of the haters and losers can't even correctly identify where Atkins is f***ing up. It has nothing to do with his offseason signings. If you go back and look, most of them wanted Jorge Soler over Justin Turner. They thought we should have signed Matt Chapman instead of IKF. They were against KK (ok maybe the wheels are falling off here but he was pretty cheap) and wanted Teoscar (would block more playing time for Schneider anyway). All of that would have been far more expensive and the team would be worse lol. But they STILL use the offseason moves as their MAIN argument. Drafting, player development and on field performance for the core offensive players are where we are struggling. But even then, outside of Vlad it's not the exact same group struggling. Bo was good last year and sucks this year. Varsho sucked last year and is hitting well this year.
  16. No one has faced better stuff than Vlad and the Jays as a team have faced the 2nd hardest pitching according to Nestico.
  17. Don't get too excited. The village welcher is the one that said you had charisma, not me (the highly respected Sheriff and #2 in command of Team Not Panicking Yet).
  18. It's tough to say what's happening behind the scenes. Though with the struggles what you are saying could be plausible. It does seem like we have too many voices in the room. Just on hitting alone we have: Offensive Coordinator- Mattingly Hitting Coach- Martinez Assistant Hitting Coach- Hague Assistant Hitting Coach- Mense But it's hard to know if all 4 are pulling in different directions or what. Could be they all suck. Or could be they are all great and the players just suck. I compared it to other teams and it seems like most of them have 3 hitting coaches of varying degrees. So having 4 isn't that out of whack.
  19. What do you mean by this? Not following
  20. His stuff is about the same from his last two MiLB starts. But if you follow through all of Nestico's posts, what I can gather is that Manoah has pretty average stuff and it has remained somewhat consistent, even during his struggles. The location and walks are what is killing him. It's hard to see how he was ever as good as he was with the stuff he had. But with good command, a solid fastball, a 4 pitch mix, and good extension he can be really good. Just needs that command to return.
  21. No, actually I was furious. He was officially CUT from Team Not Panicking after the Astros series a month ago. It was all very public after Spanky and I made the decision. Now he exists in this permanent semi-troll state (kind of like me) where idiots such as yourself take him far too seriously and end up making themselves mad online over someone's take on a baseball board. You probably missed all of this because you were on another time out after a zany rant for not being able to use the R and F words again.
