  1. How the hell are we not one of the 21 teams lol At least it will be a seller's market. Hopefully we can take advantage.
  2. Yes, if any position player in the entire league's bat and defense both decline, then their overall value will drop pretty quickly.
  3. He's been hitting really well since the ASB too. He's only logged about 100 ABs this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if his final slash line ends up looking pretty good in the end. Thus rendering the panic from some of the board's more highly regarded members moot.
  4. The only explanation for using Van Eyk here is that John Schneider is as tired of managing these bums as we are watching them and he wants half of them shipped out at the trade deadline
  5. Yesavage vs. Sandoval Cease vs. Gray Gausman vs. Tolle Must-sweep series
  6. Trading Valenzuela would be a good move. He's had a nice 170 AB stretch, but his projections for his bat are really bad. His defense is still good enough that he's a fringe starter/good backup, but because he's young and has flashed some upside another team might value him like a top-15 to top-20 catcher.
  7. Need a good start out of Bieber so we can trade him
  8. I think most players hate Seattle because it's so remote. Any flight you take, and these guys take a lot of them, is simply going to be a lot longer than the ones you take with most other teams. Plus, the entire franchise is filled to the brim with scumbags. So are their fans.
  9. Yeah we had some back and forth on that recently and to me it seemed like a possibility for both sides. I wouldn't be upset with it but I think a lot of us are getting tired of watching his ABs and dealing with all his injuries. But as frustrating as he can be, most of the options to replace him are with guys with even worse bats.
  10. Yeah a benefit to selling is that we can focus on keeping our pitchers healthy for next year and then give some runway to Keys and the rest of the Buffalo Boys to see what we've got heading in to next season.
  11. Yeah I think we can reload pretty quickly. Lots of money coming off the books and there is a foundation to build on. Rotation: We've got the makings of a solid rotation. AAA depth will be better than it has been in years as well. I'm sure we will be in on Skubal but regardless we need to sign just one more starter. Lineup: Need to add a corner OF, DH and CF. CF is tough but the other spots are some of the cheapest and easiest to fill. We also have internal candidates. Bullpen: Varland/Rogers combo is as good as any in baseball. We've got some solid middle relievers and the AAA depth is decent. Bench: We really needed a right handed bat this year. Perhaps Tony Taters is that guy next year. Kasevich could make for a good platoon partner with Gimenez. The AAA depth here is also decent as a new crop of Buffalo Boys are arriving.
  12. 0 home runs in 210 plate appearances at home is a stat so wild that it's hard to believe
  13. Probably need to get next year's CFer at the trade deadline. Mitch Bannon floated these mock trades involving CFers: Sean Keys to the Colorado Rockies for OF Brenton Doyle Jeff Hoffman and Daulton Varsho to the Philadelphia Phillies for OF Justin Crawford Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs for SP Brooks Caple (AA) and OF Brett Bateman (AAA) And here's the other 2 he made: Shane Bieber to the Tampa Bay Rays for INF/OF Ryan Vilade (MLB) and P Joe Boyle (AAA) George Springer to the Boston Red Sox for LHP Jojo Ingrassia (A+)
  14. The problem is you never actually make a pointed or accurate criticism. You just throw out tons of broad, vague criticisms, often purposefully made to elicit pushback. Today, for example, you bragged about saying back in May that the defense was bad and how right you turned out to be. I looked at the numbers, and that just isn't true. Then, after your mom brought your chicken tendies and Monster Energy down to the basement for lunch, you caught a second wind and started arguing that Okamoto hasn't akshually replaced Bo as well as everyone thinks. And when people understandably ask what the hell you're talking about, you suddenly start clutching your pearls. Apparently it's our fault for being so defensive. It's not your fault for making some bizarre point where Okamoto has simultaneously done a great job and somehow hasn't actually replaced Bo very well at the same time. No, it's our fault because we can't read lol.
  15. Lmao buddy you are the absolute king of doing that
  16. I personally can't stand having a guy with legit power in the lineup. We need to get rid of Okamoto and get another slap hitter in there. That will fix things.
  17. Okamoto accounts for about 22% of our team's home run total on the year. lol Replacing Bo in the lineup might have been the biggest concern this past offseason and he's done that just fine.
  18. Yeah the aggressive approach worked in the postseason. We would blitz the opposing team's pitchers and before they knew it we had been spraying liners all over the park with some bombs mixed in. Seems like teams have adjusted and now they are throwing junk off the plate and we are waving at it. Need a total lineup overhaul this offseason but we should be able to do it with DH and OF spots being the biggest needs aside from Vlad pulling his head out of his butt.
  19. It's insanity. Imagine if I told you that we would be adding the following free agents to last year's team: The ASG starter and possible Cy Young winner 4 WAR infielder to replace Bo One of the best setup men in MLB You'd probably think we'd win the division easily. Instead we are dead last lol. And all this after last year's WS, the 50th anniversary, etc. Kill me.
  20. The ship has sunk. All eyes on the trade deadline now.
  21. He could work. You'd be batting him and Gimenez toward the bottom but we could throw every remaining dollar into improving the corner OF spots and DH to get the offense in gear again.
  22. The defense has slipped some but most of the metrics still rate us pretty well. Don't let these dumbasses sway your opinion, they don't even look at numbers they just talk out of their ass. The real reason we suck is that we are 30th in runs scored, not the defense.
