  1. I thought the same about Vlad, or at least that he led the world in 390 foot fly ball outs to center, but when I checked the statcast data it wasn't the case. It was simply he was hitting way less long fly balls then in 2021. Not sure if it is the same story with Chapman. Man, he hit's that a little to the right, hit's it 1 degree higher, 1 mph harder it's a different game.
  2. It wasn't a super hard catch for a major league center fielder, both Varsho and Kiemaier make that play and a lot of other center fielders. Whatever is going on with Toronto's power this year is what is killing us, both Vlad and Chapman hit 390 foot fly balls to center. If they hit 405 foot flyballs or pull it it's a different game.
  3. I haven't seen anyone melting down including myself. Comments are mostly about Gausman tipping against twins, which both A-Rod and Buck Martinez are also talking about (Buck has been talking about this since 2022) And second another baserunning out, which is fair to be frustrated about since it has happened so much this year.
  4. lol. So typical. This is the team that led the majors or close in baserunning outs.
  5. Grant, A-rod, Buck Martinez, and Stangstag are all in agreement on this. That is enough for me.
  6. A-Rod went pitch by pitch over the second Lewis at bat. According to A-Rod the splitters were good and you don't take those without flinching unless you know what is coming. You don't swing like that at a 97 mph fastball unless you know it's coming (admittedly he could have guessed that a fastball was coming 3-1)
  7. Guys are claiming that Gaussman needs to control the fastball, but he just did against Taylor. 2 fastballs low at the bottom of the zone. Taylow had great swings at both like he knew it was a fast ball not a splitter.
  8. On the U.S. broadcast A-Rod thinks he is tipping because of the body language. Not just the takes but they aren't flinching.
  9. But a lot of the time the splitter isn't a strike anyway and it is just a matter of whether they recognize it early or not.
  10. 100%. Buck Martinez has known their was a tell since early 2022 and the Jays coaching staff can't figure it out? Look at the pitches they are taking. Look at the swing Lewis had on a 97 mph inside fastball. That doesn't happen unless he recognizes it really early.
  11. This wasn't a terrible prediction and would have been right on if Kirk/Vlad/Varsho/ and Manoah had performed to expectations... I guess every year some set of players under-performs but this year was super frustrating because it was 4 guys average age of 25, who should been having their best combined year having by far their worst.
  12. It turned out fangraphs was exactly right on the Jays. And as usual they didn't predict any of the 100 win teams or 100 loss teams.
  13. Turned out to be .549 and they clinched the last playoff spot in dramatic fashion 4 hours after game 161, (which they lost to Tampa Bay), watching Luis Castillo have a rare off night.
  14. Kirk was hitting .217 on May 15th and .230 on July 19th with a .298 slugging. You are right though it is hard to do this, with such a low strike out rate for 400 at bats as he finished at .250 with a .360 slugging. Hopefully he shows up in better shape next year.
  15. This was actually really close. Berrios arguably 2nd best pitcher. Biggio became everyday second baseman by September, Chapman led team in fWAR I believe and it wouldn't have taken much to overtake Vlad as second best offensive player, but I guess that was mainly because the entire team was mediocre.
  16. Lopez is like forgotten now and several infielders, Barger, Schneider, Orelvis, Palmegianni, Jiminez and Ernie Clement leaped ahead of him. In a year where the international league played like Coors Field in the middle of the steroid era Lopez couldn't hit at all.
  17. Congratulations to the Baltimore Orioles for winning 101 games and the division.
  18. Jansen tried but kept getting hit by pitches or foul balls and stuff.
  19. Could still be true, but likely Schneider and the rejuvenated Biggio are first in line if there are no new signings or trades. If those 2 fail and the others do good at Buffalo could easily see them in May.
  20. Well I guess Bo Bichette would have had to get hurt for an MILB infielder to get playing time, which eventually he did but it was Schneider who got a little bit of playing time, until it became apparent that he just couldn't hold a 1400 OPS and they benched him (I know he eventually went 0/30 but the benching began before that).
  21. Belt and Kiermaier got 4.5 fWAR, 5.9 bWAR and both missed a lot of time. Barger got an elbow injury I think and had his power reduced, with an operation or two he should be top 3 in ROY next year (at least that's what I'd to think, Barger = the next Bo Bichette except his elbow hurt but it will get fixed)
  22. Congratulations to the New York Yankees for their 31st winning season in a row with an 82-80 record. And congratulations to Dick_Pole for correctly predicting the Yankees win less than 85 and miss the playoffs.
  23. It's also pretty amazing how close the Jays came to missing the playoffs. They made the playoffs because Luis Castillo had a bad game at the wrong time. I concede that we don't know what would have happened in a Gausman start Sunday, but at the very least it would have been a terrible stress fest if Castillo hadn't messed up the Saturday night game. Half the board gets their knickers in a knot over the negative posting, but for the most part the negative posting was a reaction to the fact that last week everything was lined up for an imporbable playoff miss, the Houston/Seattle games were going the exact wrong way until Saturday night and Jays weren't getting it done on their end. What if Seattle had won 2/3 against Houston ? Then I believe Houston misses the playoffs. What if Castillo had performed Saturday night? Jays miss the playoffs. What if Romano had performed against the Yankees? Then Jays clinch Friday night without stress. The scenario that did happen wasn't the 98.5th percentile bad that had the Jays missing the playoffs, just the 95th percentile bad (given the state of things Monday afternoon) that had them barely making the playoffs as the last seed by 1 game in a stress fest clinching as another team lost.
  24. It's 2020, not 2016. You were glued to MSNBC all weak watching the votes come in batch by batch. It was a long and drawn out process, at first it seemed Biden was losing, night after extruciating night he was behind, but then a batch of good guy votes came in and MSNBC made the official call. Everything is OK now. Everything is good. The bad guys lost. Congratulations Hilary voters. The probabilities were not wrong this time and that is why we all need to calm the f*** down and trust "science" the same statistics that correctly predicted the Blue Jays had a 98.5 percent chance of making the playoffs also correctly predicted that 'the boost' won't cause too much myocarditis and will save grandma. So everyone needs to celebrate the playoff clinch and go down to your clinic to man-up and get your boost, real men will risk a little heart damage to help their communities. ** ** Once again politics are not allowed on the board, my post is merely a little bit of counter info to the posters on this illustrious board who have implied real men don't get boosted, just to make sure accurate public health information is presented to the many impressionable posters on this board. *** For full disclosure I did not schedule a boost myself, but had it scheduled by my wife who may not have my best intentions in mind. Who know what to believe these days, certainly no one should trust what I say after my terrible takes on the playoff race. **** Bo and Vlad still may not win a playoff game, and next year Julio and J.P. may be supplemented with Ohtani and battle the Orioles for the race to 120 wins so I may end up being right about all this anyway long term, but for today I'll take the L.
  25. What the hell is the point of these stupid slots? Shouldn't all the game just be at 530 through 8:30 overlapped a bit, make sure games are shown on main channel in market on some secondary market out of channel. Wouldn't they get more viewers with that scheme as compared to a noon Tuesday game? Also, sorry for all my crazy posts, I obviously did not understand that there is no horrible demon god of fate making sure the Mariners win, I thought for sure there was. My wife is madder than you guys and now I am pretty sure she has got me an appointment to get boosted to kill me with the myocardiditis. I sure hope I survive the boost tomorrow.
