  1. Adam Lind is projected for 1.2 wins in 102 games, Martinez 2.5. So with a platoon partner that produces at the same rate as Adam, Your looking at 1.5 to 2.5 for 130 games. Lind at 8 million... platoon guy at 2... so it would be 10 million for 1.5 wins. That puts 2.5 at 16 million. I am not advocating Lind or Martinez. I am advocating logic and numbers. You could say Victor Martinez is not worth it at one price or another. Switching Lind at 8 million + platoon mate for Martinez is not a ridiculous move unless Martinez is getting 25 million a year or something... well I guess the draft pick is an issue too. Still at some price Martiinez makes sense.
  2. ?? Relief pitching ahead of Victor?? No position is more important than another according to math. If a DH will add more wins then a reliever you take the DH. Victor will likely add a couple wins. That is more important then moves that WON'T add a couple wins, but less important then moves that will. So if we can get Troy Tuwlo for SS and move Reyes somehow... then that is more important then Victor. If we are talkiing Brandon Phillops for second it may not be. And by the way where the hell will you find a backup MIF that is good enough to DH in his spare time??
  3. Has RealAccountant been hanging around Moogie to much?? This has the Moogie "I am an elite and will judge the low brow opinions of the commoners" vibe. If you believe in God it is justifiable to appreciate how God originally made her. If you believe in Evolution it is justifiable to appreciate how Evolution originally made her. Perhaps you think Monsanto made her that way by feeding her Genetically modified s*** with too much growth hormone?? then OK. Perhaps it is a good idea she had radical surgery to undo the damage Monsanto caused.
  4. There was a time when they platooned hitters a lot more. 10 man bullpens and platoons all over the place.
  5. Franklin Barreto, ss - lansing 6. Max Pentecost, c - would of been lansing but may hold him back because of injury. not sure how serious that is. 7. Roberto Osuna, rhp - dunedin 8. Richard Urena, ss - not sure because Barreto needs to play short stop too. I guess he could start in Lansing and they could move Barreto (which I've heard is coming, never seen the guy play only what I've heard) 9. Miguel Castro, rhp - dunnedin 10. Sean Reid-Foley, rhp - gcl or bluefield.
  6. If you are a believer in communist style central planning, where the wise ones (such as Beeston and AA and Moogie) guide us to glory then yes... you are correct. Otherwise it is reasonable to make moves that the media/fanbase like. And keep in mind the media/fanbase is not just made of idiots. There are segments of the fanbase that are quite smart (many of them on this board) and pandering to them would encourage stronger moves.
  7. Guilty for sure. I totally missed that story. Must of been busy with other crap....
  8. If true it borders on the ridiculous. Beeston - "Cito says Lind doesn't need to get an MRI. He just needs to quit wining and pull that ball." Sietzer (privately to Gibby) - "Lind can hardly walk, we need him to get that MRI." Savy Gibby - I have an idea. Savy Gibby (On the phone with Beeston) - "Didn't Cito once say "Always listen to your Mother" Beeston - "That Cito knows what he's talking about. Every boy, no matter how big, needs his Mom." Savy Gibby - "Lind's Mom says he needs to get an MRI"
  9. I hadn't heard about it. Just wondering if it is true.
  10. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2014/11/02/blue-jays-adam-lind-timeline-the-hills-and-valleys-of-a-career-in-toronto/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter There is actually a pretty serious accusation in here. Something about Lind's Mom asking for an MRI on his foot. OK fine, the Jays training staff messed up. But here's the really slimy part. AA asked Lind to backtrack on that because the training staff was embarassed. Is any of this true?? Did Lind's Mom ask for the MRI?? And if so did AA make Lind lie to protect the training staff>?>? If so AA should resign. Beeston too. That's outright dishonesty. It's worst then dishonesty because they are forcing someone else to lie. If that's what Rogers stands for... wow. Scary stuff. That has to be a violation of Roger's coorporate ethics. Making an employee (Lind) lie to protect other employees (the training staff). Even though those ethics are "wink wink" "made to be broken" coorporations ussually want guys like Beeston and AA to be savy about it.
  11. WTF???? This is the stupidest comment I've heard on the board in some time. His back limits his power?? So he hit .320 last year with 24 doubles in 290 at bats. He even hit a couple triples. Per 162 games over his career he hits 25 homers. He's had years where he swung at f***ing everything and did nothing except knock a few out of the park (ie 2011) So his back limits his power?? The only year (2014) where his power was limited he was actually a very effective hitter. Other years he was a power hitter, and a bad one sometimes (2010-2011). If Adam Lind's 2014 is what you get when your back limits your power then hopefully everyone has a bad back next year.
  12. Have no idea if he is qualified to do anything else. A lot of these radio personalities seem to pick up a job on another station or something?? Couldn't he get a job reporting local sports somewhere?? Get enough to feed the family. I wonder what would have happened if he stood up to Cito and Rogers back a few years ago... If he started his own blog or some other gig would he of got enough of a following to eventually get another good media job?? Or was it do what Roger's/Beeston says or the good life is over forever??
  13. That's not the point of the thread. The point of the thread is to evaluate the 2012 offseason moves. I'm not evaluating small or large moves, lucky or unlucky moves etc, just the moves that were made. AA - I am going to make some huge moves that will increase payroll astronomically. The moves will have limited upside. So limited that the total value could be wiped out by an unlucky mistake on another minor move. Beeston - Sounds great.
  14. This is silly. People should be evaluated by the sum of their work. Let's say it was the other way around. Let's say some GM traded 100 million dollars worth of salary and then replaced some of the WAR with a different side where he got a 4 WAR player for nothing. Would people say "well that other deal was just a side deal... so what!"?? No of course not. They would say the GM was brilliant for offloading 100 million dollar of salary and replacing some of the wins with a different smart deal. This is the type of thing weasels like Paul Beeston say to retain the status quo.
  15. Haven't seen this anywhere else... Fan Graphs WARs Dickey - 2.1, Buerle 3.5- JJ - 0, Reyes 3.3, Melky 2.4 Alvarez - 2.2, D'Arnaud 1.6, Hech 0.6, Escobar 0.2, Marisnick 0.8, Gomes 4.6 Am I missing anyone?? I think it's actually better then last year... but we basically paid a hundred million or whatever for 0 WARS. If Alvarez, D'Arnaud, Hech, Marisnick and or Gomes take off it could turn out. We paid 100 million for 0 short term WAR, 0 short term playoff appearances. -100 long term WAR, -2 or 3 long term playoff appearances. Go Wilner. Go AA.
  16. He has peaked. He was in his prime a few years ago but now his skills have declined. It happened with Cito Gaston too. Like Cito, if Gardenhire is hired by us he will be rejuvinated and will win 90. In Gaston's first year of his second term we won a lot (between late June and May) but then the mutiny happened and ruined it. But the mutiny was independent of Cito's managing skills... it was just one of those things. Not really his fault that the players went bezerk. Just make sure it doesn't happen with Gardenhire and he will win 95.
  17. Or if you see the statement grounded in a fixed time frame of 2013 that means there is a 100% chance of winning next year. We didn't win that year, or the year after that, which is this year, so it is an absolute certainty that we will win next year.
  18. If we don't win this year, we'll win next year, if we don't win next year we'll win the year after that. It's an infiinite series... I would say Beeston has no idea what an infinite series is. But according to Moogy most executives take 5 or 6 calculus courses.
  19. Phil Lind - No... No I don't think we should fire Gibbons. We have to take responsibility for this mess. We need to admit our mistakes. Sometimes upper management has to take the blame. Beeston - my consultant will be speaking on my behalf... Phil Lind - (looks at the consutant) Who the hell are you?? Moogy - (has been banned from BJMB and has free time). I'm Moogy sir. Please do not blame innocent business people. The reality is, most people who obtain an MBA have come from other disciplines. Those often include science related fields, medical and engineering. They are, in fact, typically bright, educated people who are looking to make a career step or simply branch out into a slightly expanded, but related, career path from the one they are currently in Phil Lind - hmmmm... I didn't think of that. (thinking) Phil Lind (reluctantly) - OK, go ahead and fire Gibbons... I don't know... this... what is your name again? Moogy - Moogy sir. Phil Lind - I concede Mr. Moogy did make a valid point.... I was on the fence... but it's the right thing to do. We can't blame upper management. Fire Gibbons.
  20. I wonder if the real Wilner ever comes here... Wilner - I think I'll go to Blue Jays Message Board Wilner - Wow they made a thread all about me and my Dickey effect article. I'll check it out. Wilner - What the f*** is this?? Moogy?? Who the f*** is that? And what the f*** is this Olerud363 guy on?? These guys are f***ed. I haven't said f*** 5 times in 5 years now I've said it 5 times in 10 seconds... glad these weirdos don't call my show..... Or maybe they do... I'll have to be extra snarky this afternoon just in case.
  21. ?? No. Even when making fun of you I was careful to be clear that you were making innuendos at the Mom... I always think the best of people. Moogy = Rich, elitist, high society individual with lots of calculus courses and super high IQ. Hates engineers and mall cops. Degrades female and male engineers and mall cops equally. Would never degrade a woman except if she is an engineer or a mall cop. According to Moogy engineers and mall cops are subhuman. Everyone else (black, white, male, female, handicapped, etc.) is OK. Moogy != child molester Did you ever read Watchmen?? Moogy = Adrian Veidt a.k.a. Ozymandias Adrian Veidt a.k.a. Ozymandias a.k.a. Moogy - "I don't mind being the smartest man in the world, I just wish it wasn't this one." Being of a high class you may not read the comics or watch the popular films so perhaps you do not know Ozymandias. You apparently did not know Stoeten and Ju1ced.
  22. Little Girl - My Mom makes hospitals you can hold in your hand Moogy - Really?? That might be useful. You see I have this problem. It's kind of embarassing. I could use a hospital in a hand... heh heh heh... Tell your Mom she's welcome to put her hand right here... Your worthless engineer mom isn't good for much... but she's good for that. Little Girl - (confused what the hell is Moogy talking about??) Blue Jays Message Board Administrator - Moogy no... to far.. to far!!! Keep it kid friendly here.
  23. I believe in populist capitalism. So my criteria would be that the thread is negatively impacting the number of daily visitors and possibly profitability of this fine forum. Some formula involving total profit of site and number of individuals contributing to the profit. A little more then just profit because you wouldn't want one rich donor getting the thread shut down (maybe even Moogy himself making mega donations ala the Koch brothers). However if it insulted the people, especially the people who donate money, and made them not want to donate money anymore, then shut it down.
  24. Little Girl - My mom makes planes that talk. Moogy - Yeah tell your mom f***ing thanks. That bitches plane pinged that it was somewhere on an arc between the southern Indian Ocean and northern Khazakastan. And they had to hire 20 other slimy engineers even to figure that much out. Go put together your f***ing little lego death star you twerp and someday you can be as worthless as your Mom. Little Girl - (quietly shocked doesn't know how to react to Moogy) Moogy - by the way can you help me with my lap top. I was surfing umm... well never mind but I keep getting all these pop-ups now.
  25. It happens way more often then you would think.... Alex Rios had a .650 OPS in A-ball as a 20 year old and has had many good mlb seasons (some bad too obviously_ http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=rios--001ale Eric Hosmer had a .688 OPS over a/a+ and is "relatively" successful
