  1. Bow before Moogie!! Man of the people. Defender of the weak. by the way, it is a message board, everyone is invited to the conversation for better or worse, you don't need an invitation. If you go over the line you can get uninvited (a.k.a. banned!), everyone is invited to the conversation as long as they follow a minimum set of rules.
  2. He's intelligent, but mean, and his viewpoint is whatever viewpoint will get a rise out of someone else, the very definition of troll. In one post on this thread he mentions that it is a serious problem that so many are being diagnosed and treated for ADD/ADHD and even speculates it may be a problem with the doctors/drugs (cough big pharm cough) Yet in another thread he'll go on and on about how the biomed industry is pristine...
  3. Moogy has a long history of getting very personal with people.... a few years ago I lost a job under dubious circumstances (someone was mismarketing a product I was involved with, I stood up to it, and was quickly disapeared)... Sad sob story, I brought it up once in the context of some thread, then Moogy called me out. I had no problem with this at all. By all means maybe I'm bullshitting, maybe I'm lazy and incompetent, Moogy attacked me, perfectly fine, no one should take my word on something like that. What was a problem is that he kept bringing it up in totally unrelated threads, just to get me going... his replies to me always ended with stuff like "tell us again how you lost a job because you were honest??" He's done this to other people, just bringing up mean spirited crap again and again. That being said (so far) his comments on ADHD seem reasonable.
  4. It is a combination of all three. 1. Doctor's get kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies. They have incentive to diagnose and treat these disorders. 2. Modern diet has changed the populations gut microbiome which may actually have psychological effects, interactions between gut and brain are just beginning to be understood. 3. Over-prescription of drugs themselves (especially antibiotics) are changing the microbiome, which again may be having psychological effects.
  5. wouldn't surprise me either. not because it's Toronto... just because it's baseball. It's so random. It's frustrating to me. I thought the AA era would lead to a young core that would be good for 5 years... long enough for luck to even out. Instead he just kept trading prospects for high level talent until a critical mass was reached... and I agree it is a really great team right now. If you could have these players 5 years it would be great... but Price is gone after the years, Bautista, EE and even Martin look old... It's like the core will only be together for 50 games.... and luck can hit either way.
  6. Yes I realize that. Which is fine. As ussual the only person that is truly pissing me off on this thread is Moogie....
  7. The comments you highlighted were from just yesterday. Boxcar went off on me a week ago when I was replying to Stangstag. I understand now he was only replying to my wordy and convoluted style, and wasn't agreeing with Stangstag. I didn't realize that at the time.
  8. OK fine. You are right. Only Stangnstag was outright stupid. Boxcar was arguing heavily for WAR. He also had a couple of "Holy f***" one line replies directed at me, which made it seem he was also arguing with Stangstag. Oh f*** it... Bow before Moogie!
  9. chp a.k.a. Old skool has a very distinctive style... Loves cito... Hates stats... Started watching in 77.
  10. I wasn't implying there is a collective way of thinking... in fact I acknowledged that most of the posts in this thread were dead on... I had a typo when I retyped Stangstag's quote.... "People saying Donaldson over Trout should be ashamed of themselves." Is what he said. As ussual the 'coorporate' bros are just arguing with my style, not substance... they earn a lot money posting on this board all day, selling mutual funds, or Tamsulosin (Flomax), or whatever. To multitask they have to be concise.
  11. No, not at all. The guy I was replying to was Stangstag, who said that "you should be ashamed of yourself" if you thought Donaldson deserved the MVP. Looking over the thread most of the comments are pretty bang on... Trout is the better player year in year out, they are basically tied so far in 2015.
  12. This is just a guess but I'd say there is a 1/3 chance that somehow, some of the four players given up contribute very meaningfully to an As playoff run in the next 3 years. Say there is also a 1/3 chance the Jays either don't make the playoffs, or just win a wild card and don't really go anywhere, then struggle the next couple of years. As of right now I would guess there is 1/6 chance As win this trade, 5/6 that Jays do. Just an estimate... The trade was a 'now' trade for the Jays... given that the Jays have a 80% chance of making the playoffs... or whatever it is it has become increasingly likely the 'now' part will come true.
  13. boxcar -- slave of coorporate america. You know the rules. Never admit you are wrong. Never admit weakness. Now go get your cookies!
  14. Your also trained to be very simple minded and mean to your rivals -- who you compete with for the cookies (raises) rival - trends are good right now but my analysis brings up concern regarding next year -- you- Yo Bro!!! Profits are up!!! Don't bring that crap here. Things are solid!
  15. the path for the Donaldson trade to backfire is this: Jays just miss wild card this year... Jays struggle for next few years.... Barretto (19) becomes a top young player in the game, Lawrie puts it together in his prime years (26-28), Nolin and Gravement contribute to 2017-19 As playoff runs. guys All I've ever said is that there are ways this trade could come back and burn the Jays... If I wanted to be a popular poster all I'd have to say is this... Donaldson is the bomb!!! WE RAPED BEANE!!! PLAYOFFS!!!! short, simple, happy, positive. The rules for being popular on this board are the same as in coorporate america... you guys know this.. your trained to be simple, happy, positive, 'go-bro', people, so your bosses will give you cookies.
  16. Stangstag said people saying Donaldson over trout should be ashamed of themselves. You should be ashamed of yourself. I am ashamed of you. I am ashamed of this board... well not really most of the replies in this thread are pretty good... it was just a couple of posters in the "Trout is the obvious MVP" camp... but there were a couple thus the direction the conversation took.
  17. Stangstag -- People are saying Donaldson over Trout should be ashamed of themselves. Boxcar -- nobody is saying that Who the f*** is boxcar anyway?? Hilary Clinton should hire him The poeple - Hilary has classified e-mails on her server -- Boxcar - no she doesn't.. I am boxcar... reality is as I say... Moggie has left the building... now is my time.... I define reality.
  18. Holy f*** boxcar -- you are an idiot... don't accuse people of ineptitude unless you are 100% sure... the entire conversation was sent in this direction by a guy 'stagnag' or something who said Trout was the obvious MVP and anybody who said differently was an idiot.
  19. just bringing this up to the front for boxcar's sake
  20. I checked today and it seems Fangraphs have them both at 6.7. I need the decimals to find out which one is MVP When it was Trout 10ish - Cabrerra 6 the people said Trout was obviously the MVP and one was an idiot to think otherwise When it was Trout 6.5, Donaldson 6.3 they said the same, the 0.2 difference seemed just as relevant as the 4 WAR difference. Now it is 6.7x, 6.7x, please refer me to a place where I can find the decimal points so I know who is "obviously" the MVP
  21. Things may have changed since 1993. That was actually a comparable MVP race, it should of been between Olerud and Griffey, Instead Thomas and Molitor were 1/2. Basically because of the factors you state. 1. Olerud was a huge story when he was challenging .400, but slumped a bit in the last few weeks and didn't get headlines. 2. Thomas and Molitor got their counting stats (hit, homers, rbis) above Olerud's 3. Blue Jays supporting staff was better (Molitor, Alomar). http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=1993&month=0&season1=1993&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  22. Yo Bro- Trout 6.5, JD - 6.3 case closed.
  23. When you have Trout at 10 WAR, and Cabrerra at 6.x then by all means it is bad logic to give Cabrerra the MVP because his team won, or because he the triple crown or whatever. If you end up with Trout at 9.5 and Donaldson at 9.2 it's different... who knows who was really better, measuring all this stuff isn't exact. It's no longer obvious who was better so go with the nice story, or the winning team.
  24. Not sure what comment this is in reply to.... This is a ridiculous conversation. Donaldson and Trout are essentially tied right now. The 0.2 difference in WAR is meaningless so you might as well go with the nice story. If you think that Trout should be MVP because he is slightly ahead of Donaldson in WAR that is complete foolishness. Right now, in August 2015 there is little difference between Donaldson and Trout. Obviously this could change. So it is reasonable to say "Trout is way better and will outperform Donaldson by quite a bit the next 2 months and will be the obvious MVP" That is OK. But explain it. Don't say "YOU ARE AN IDIOT. TROUT IS 0.2 AHEAD AND THE SITUATION IS DECIDED"
  25. Why do you need play by play?? Just follow the game thread... you can tell exactly what is happening... Good Donaldson is the bomb!!! BAUUUTTIIISTA!!!!!! Buerhle is just so solid. Offer him 20 million again next year. Bad Damn I miss Travis. Tulo needs to start every day. Just give him rest at the end of blowouts. f*** Gibby. uuugh Buerhle... he really has been lucky this year, and the luck is running out. We need Stroman back asap
