  1. Well said, Harold Reynolds should want to hug you, not the intern, not Escobar!
  2. He has 13 walks and a .280 on base. That is even less walks then Escobar. Harold Reynolds - "Perez is just as aggressive as Escobar if not more so, this Royals line up is impossible, Perez is like a second lead off hitter, he is just that aggressive"
  3. Where should he hit?? Lead off?? What is better? Gordon (leading off) - first pitch ball outside or Escobar (leading off) - first pitch (in play no outs) (line drive to center fielder Pillar)
  4. Harold Reynolds says Escobar and Ned Yost are changing the game RIP Money ball (July 5th 1998 to October 21 2015) My prediction -- first pitch of game 4:07, in play (no outs), Escobar double on line drive to Center Fileder (Pillar)) Harold Reynolds will say "Escobar has changed the game, you cannot take pitches, Escobar has shown us this, I want to hug him, but I don't hug anymore after getting fired 10 years ago for hugging that intern."
  5. Here is another reason for the Blue Jays to win today. Derek Holland is rooting against you. Make him sad!
  6. I have some family who are bandwagoners going to the game. LISTEN BLUE JAYS... THE BANDWAGONERS HAVE SUPPORTED YOU THROUGH THICK AND THIN FOR 10 weeks now... not just 3 weeks 10 entire weeks by my count!!! You owe them something. For the love of Joe Carper win the goddamn game today!!! That's all.
  7. Harold Reynolds "The royals are getting the game back to where it should be, they don't walk, they hit their way on, that's the way the game is meant to played." I'm not kidding he said something very close to that... did anybody else hear it??
  8. I guess I know how the Brave's felt when Pat Borders whipped them... I know old guy talking about the past. It just frustrates me that there will be a "Escobar plays the game the right way crap coming from Harold Reynolds" Reynolds - "and this is why Billy Beane's teams have never made a world series, the Jays led the league in walks and it's killing them, they're just too patient for the playoffs. You gotta get the on base percentage way down for the playoffs. The Royals don't walk and that's why they're going to the World Series... Toronto has to stop walking if they want to go further" I am only half kidding here... Reynolds said stuff that wasn't quite that bad.. but almost.
  9. Don't they both have 10-5 status?? Why not just go with them for another year...
  10. Is it because first is harder then it looks and Bautista might tank defensively there too?? Or you just want Bautista i the infield??
  11. Well I don't think Yost would be available. Listening to Harold Reynolds on the broadcasts, it sounds like he understand the Royals strategies.... Do you think Reynolds would be interested in managing??
  12. If not it says something about how the industry views D-WAR. Giancarlo Stanton born in '89 -- 700 games 25 WAR (apr.) 13 years 310 million Jayson Heyward born in '89 -- 800 games 28 WAR (apr) ?? million Stanton wasn't a free agent.
  13. Probably not I guess. So getting Heyward may be a pipe dream depending how the industry values his youth, defense and all skills. He's not quite at the level of Cano when he signed the big deal... but he's 5 years younger. So if Cano's or Votto's age 30-40 seasons are worth 250 million or whatever. What are Heyward's 25-35 seasons worth?? What do you guys think??
  14. They'd be nuts not to share that opinion. A 25 year old outfielder, top 3 defensively according to the numbers, great baserunner as far as I can tell, 23-3 in steals. He had his best hitting season as a 20 year old rookie. Career high 91 walks. Flashed 30 homer power as a 22 year old. Headed to the prime of his career having shown, at one point or another, every tool in the tool box. Just hasn't put it all together in one season. Still puts up 6 WAR one way or the other. The most interesting man in baseball. He could be worth 40 million dollars a year if his power comes back and the D holds.
  15. I heard Dave Stieb mentioned in another thread so a few still care.. The fact we made the playoffs made me care more... Looking at some of the old video is fun... maybe if you aren't old enough to actually remember it you don't care, but if you saw it you will always care.
  16. If it went... (Henderson bumps everyone when he arrives) Alomar Olerud Molitor Carter Fernandez White Sprague Borders Carter would of driven in 150, and White 100... Gaston probably cost White and Carter money by not bumping them (but he gave them RESPECT)
  17. Ned Yost Jays line up (1993) - Henderson White Alomar Carter Molitor Borders Fernandez Olerud Sprague The sad thing is the real one was almost (but not quite) as bad. Molitor and Alomar rotated through the 6th spot, Carter and White always were ahead of Olerud, but Olerud stayed at 5th all the time.
  18. ummm I don't know. I wonder if they are just blowing smoke. If he really couldn't throw his slider, but was available to throw other pitches wouldn't they want to keep that quiet?? Just so KC still is thinking about the slider.
  19. The chances of Jays winning 3 in a row against KC are about 1/8. Chances of them winning 3 in a row against an average team are a little higher. The Jays had 67 chances to start a 3 game winning streak and did it 12 times. That sounds about right.
  20. I assume the Jays and the Tigers both knew about this... and if so that would indicate it is a fairly benign form of cancer. Tigers aren't going to trade for a guy who is going to be facing a life threatening illness, Jays would be asses to trade a guy under those conditions. It says in his post that the doctors let him pitch the rest of the season. So hopefully it is very curable. Edit: by definition cancer isn't benign... but some types respond to treatment and/or grow and spread slowly enough that they can be treated. Anyone with medical knowledge please fill us in. Hoping for the best for Norris.
  21. huhhh??? Whut the f*** are we suppose to talk about here?? Conforto was a good pick by the Mets. Hoffman from what I hear wasn't. All summer people were complaining about his strikeout rate. Then he turned to Tulo. Is it wrong to point out that the Mets were really succuessful with that pick?? Is it wrong to point out the Mets are doing a great job developing young players and pitchers??
  22. Edwin 3rd, Tulo 4th, Martin 5th. I believe that is the line up that would score the most runs. Basically just put them in order of career on base percentage. ** assuming Tulo producing at career rate, and assuming Bautista does not freak out over hitting lead off.
  23. OK... maybe you are just kidding around. Mets would be a great one to follow though if you are looking for an organization that does it the right way. I just found out they took Conforto 10th in 2014 and he is allready a step away from the World series... looks like a great hitting prospect. We took Hoffman and turned him 2 other prospect and 50 million into Tulo.
  24. Are you really a Mets fan?? One of my friends is a crazy Mets fan. I spent the last couple of days explaining the pain of being a Blue Jays fan. He's laughing his ass off at the Dickey trade. We went back and looked at the Olerud trade. Turns out that one was about 18-0 in WAR the following 3 years. 35-0 including Olerud's Seattle/NYY/Red Sox years. We figued the over/under on the eventual return on the Dickey Trade is about 70-5 WAR. We looked at some historical WAR numbers. Turns out John Olerud 1993 is the second best Jays position player season ever (after Donaldson), and Olerud 1998 is the second best Mets season (after one of Wright's). I told him this. If Syndergaard blows up with a lead, it's OK. You look forward to the next 6 years of Syndergard. If David Price blows up... At the end of our discussion he felt really bad for me, and tried to convince me to become a Mets fan.
