  1. Wander Franco His career average will never be below .320... he will go 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 2/4. 2/5, 3/6. And so on At some moment perhaps he will be 16/50... but he will not go under .320. Legends are for the people, and legends don't disapoint. Wander Franco will never have early doubts, or late doubts. His 9 Rays years will be legend, beyond legend. Then the trade to the Red Sox will serve both sides. The Red Sox fans will get the legend they deserve, and after the Rays fans get 9 years of legend they will get 4 all star caliber players, none quite legends but enough to bring more joy. And Wander's red sox years will be legendary too... he will not in any way suffer the fate of Albert Pujols, but the Red Sox will guide him through his early 30s as Manny lived his early his 30s and his late 30s with the grace of David Ortiz..... The legend begins in 10 days... it ends in Glory at Fenway Park in 2044.
  2. Wander Franco - a legend for the people. A man who will bring joy to a generation. He will add 8.9 wins a year to the Rays win total starting in 10 days (these 8.9 wins will not be good for Jays fans). Unlike an ordinary prospect Wander is a super prospect There will not be a moment of doubt, just pure joy. There will never be a moment when Wander is only hitting .270 and seems behind his peers There will never be a moment when after a hot start Wander goes 2 weeks without a homer and goes 0 for 11 and seems to be hitting too many ground balls and fans feel a twinge of doubt again... For Wander is a legend, and will give fans joy forever without a moment of weakness.
  3. If he has an innings limit of 100 they should give him 25 starts, 4 innings each in the majors. He could be really effective 2 times through the order -- fresh next time. Or they could even do the 5-2-5-2 thing which they did a couple of years ago and seemed to keep him healthy and effective.
  4. That would be fun. Would it work roster wise? It should. A 200 inning starter and 80 inning reliever cover 280 innings with 2 roster spots, so you'd be splitting the innings evenly between 2 spots instead. Of course, there'd be complications, like if one of them blows up and its 7-0 do you want to waste the other? Perhaps a more flexible piggy back system, where you aim to get both of them 140 innings, but mix it up a bit depending on situation.
  5. Neither is going to be a 200 ip guy for a while... their is room for them both to get 2-4 inning outings regularly.
  6. They went from bottom 4 to top 4 in runs scored with 18 runs in their last 11 innings. I was just discouraged with the Kirk/Springer injuries and off and on offense that looked completely off until the 8th inning explosion Wednesday. I'm not the only one.
  7. Exactly. I'm not sure what's available, but if you want to stream the Jays (legally) you need to buy some kind of sportsnet online access.
  8. lol. I had the season over, but am back on the bandwagon at least until today's crushing loss and injury news.
  9. With the late outburst last night Jays are now a perfect league average team at .230 .305 .390 or so It is hard not to over-react when your team has no one on base for days at time... but then they hit some homers and everything is OK. Last night was weird. Just walks and hits and baserunning. Haven't seen that in a while. This is a .230 .300 .390 league... if the Blue Jays are this infuriating what are Mets fans or Tigers fans thinking? Tigers fans I guess, gave up years ago, but how do Mets fans deal with constant 1-0 DeGromm losses? Just a soccer game, even shoot outs (runner on second) to break the 1-1s
  10. We will see Tellez today probably, or tomorrow. Tellez sucks, but everyone except Trout and maybe Vladdy does to. it's a .230 .300 .380 league now. Tellez isn't bad the league is. I love you Tellez. Come back soon and help us withy a .240 .310 .460 line that will be probably have you being the 9th rank player in MLB.
  11. Everybody except Vlad has taken a huge step back this year... I guess Grichuk too but he isn't that young The Biggio, Bo, Jansen, Guerriel, Hernandez, Rowdy group were probably projected to hit .270 .330 .500 or so They've hit like .220 .260 .400, if that... A nice coordinated collapse by 6 players all together... that's just as much a factor as the Springer/Kirk injuries.
  12. 2 runs in the first then nothing.... On base percentage will probably be under .300 again after this game. Even worse considering most of their offense are in the two games they scored 14 and 13 runs...
  13. It feels like a soccer game. As hit a double feels like it ends it
  14. Baseball is a game of ups and downs but I've rarely seen a teams fortunes change so much in about 24 hours. After Springers 2nd homerun Saturday night it was a potentially great season... no indication anything was going on with either him or Kirk, except cramps..... Now both are gone, the offense is dead,
  15. Kirk - 2 homers - gone until July next day Springer - 2 homers - in Tulo mode next day Everyone else is afraid to hit 2 homers ... is one still aloud. Apparently not just to be safe. This offense is insanely bad and pathetically unenjoyable to watch The weird thing is they aren't the worst, well will probably be one of the worst again soon, teams are bunched up... baseball is kindof broken. Having several .225 .300 .380 hitting teams is no fun
  16. I know I am being over-reactionary, but when does this type of thing every work out? Day to day and getting worse every day is never good. Donaldson? Tulo?? I think Tulo played 3 more games over the 4.5 years of his contract. From July 2017 when he went "day to day" at age 32 he played 3 games, for 70 million or close to it. And 3 games over the last 3.5 years of his contract were for the Yankees, l.o.l
  17. At this point I'm convinced Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, have first crack at the valuable free agents or trade targets, and we only get them if they don't pass those team's medicals and/or injury prediction algorithm.... so if we get them, they've already been flagged as a huge risk by the good teams systems... so in that case just operate like TB with extra money somehow creatively used to get more young players.
  18. Would it be easier being an Oakland or Tampa Bay fan? I hate this s***. Not healing is not good. I'd be surprised if he is able to play consistently before the all star break... I bet we don't see him until then at this point, after the failure of the first recovery, just let it rest, let it heal if it will heal. Between Springer and Tulo the highest paid position player has given us like 2 WAR since 2016 2016 - Tulo - 2 or 3 WAR 2017 - Tulo nothing 2018 - Tulo nothing 2019 - Tulo nothing 2020 - Tulo nothing 2021 - Springer nothing (so far) It's the highest paid player curse. Between Tulo and Springer it's like 10 years, 250 million for nothing. Stop with this s*** and just operate Tampa Bay Oakland style, and I don't know if you have extra money be super creative but no long term s***, it's just a curse...
  19. Who knows how longer Springer and Kirk will be gone, but losing two guys basically the day after 2 homer games, on back to back nights was super weird and annoying.
  20. I don't know what the original poster was getting at for sure. I took it, that he meant that Springers current status might be similar to Kawhi's in 2018/2019 when he played with the Raptors, and a similar strategy of 'load management' might be wise. Yeah.. I agree with you that no one here can diagnose Springer with a season ending injury. I do think we can discuss how to manage him. It might be useful to look at how teams dealt with chronic, but not season ending injuries in the past. Not all quad injuries but... 1. Kawhi - Load management program, pre-announced 2. Bonds - not sure he ever had a quad injury but in his amazing 2001-2004 run he was given regular rest on a set schedule. I think something like that may be good for Springer. You even might hit him 5th, to stop him from 5 at bat nights regularly, get him in less 'run-scorer' situations and more rbi guy (even if it's just a small difference). If he is able to swing I'd play him 3 out of 4 games for a while, and hit him 5th. Pinch run in any critical situation of course. Load management.
  21. This is silly. It's not just the imagination running wild. Making a comparison between Kawai and Springer is common sense... in fact I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it's not the same injury... but what reason is there not to discuss this? You get a few points of view, from different people who have experienced injuries, or perhaps are even in the field and we learn something. In real life people successfully deal with injuries all the time without bringing in an expert. In Ontario it's unrealistic to get every minor injury imaged. There is zero chance they will even image you for minor things, or image you before it heals. I actually had an injury to my patellar tendon and quadriceps tendon a couple years ago. No I wasn't offerred imaging. I could of gotten PT with a few weeks wait time, but it healed before then. People are on their own for minor injuries, so should learn about them. Certainly bring in experts for major injuries and anything that can be permanently disabling.
  22. I was curious where Vancouver was playing, the cynical part of me thought it might actually be Vancouver, just because a minor league baseball team would be small enough to fly under the radar with the 10,000 truckers a day and 10 planes from India coming in (well the planes from India up until a couple days ago). Turns out it is Oregon. lol
  23. I am sure Groshans and Martin would hit 8th or 9th their first week.. after that it is anyone's guess lol. One of them starts with a 4 for 10 they probably hit third (half joking, but that's kind of the way it works, like Vlad going from 6th to 3rd in like the first week). I agree with Bo on short stop. In the same inning he made the error today, he had almost the exact same throw a couple of batters later and hit Vlad in the chest on a line. He's made some nice plays the last week or two, he can make hard plays at short stop, it just seems he screws up easy ones way too often. So I hope with enough reps he works it out.
