Would you guys consider trading with the Giants for Japanese second baseman Kensuke Tanaka. He was a pretty good player in Japan and San Fran doesn't really have a need for him with Scutaro signed for a while. He's 32 and probably wouldn't cost much in a trade. Honest question for you guys. Do you think Arencibia's inability to take criticism has a direct correlation with his seeming inability to improve on his flaws or weaknesses as a player? When a guy like Chad Matolla is trying to help him for instance, is he likely thinking "Why should I listen to this guy? He was a fringe major leaguer!" Is he, in that strict sense, uncoachable?

Ismael Cruz operates a little differently from how Paddy did with the Jays. He's known for finding unheralded guys (particularly pitchers) who turn into good prospects. Hopefully they got a lot of potential hard throwing arms among their 14 signings. Gudino has a very good chance to hit IMO (similar to though not quite at the level of Barreto). I would have preferred Nestor Tejada (Astros) to Freddy Rodriguez, as Tejada has shown more with the bat at this stage, but Rodriguez has better tools (speed + raw power) and thus projects more, so I can see IC's thought process there.

I've been working on writeups for next years draft for almost a month-and-a-half now and it's loaded. There are power arms that stretch all the way to 40. There's more depth of good college hitters. And 3 guys with a legit shot at #1 in any given year (Rodon, Jackson, Beede). It has it's weaknesses and strengths like any draft, but there's big time depth. Just look at the top 10: Rodon, Beede, Jackson, Turner, Cederoth, Gatewood, Toussaint, Gordon, Kolek, Gettys.

Those are pretty high bonuses for guys most of the prospect guys have never heard about. Hopefully they're sleepers like Oscar Cabrera was.

There was already rumors he might have some arm issues. I think that was part of drafting him (like with Murphy). The expectation had to have been he would take a discount. Now put him on the Delabar program. He was the top rated high school pitcher coming into the year.
