  1. Do you have the link? I'm posting it everywhere. hahaha
  2. OMG this is sooo much funnier. Can you redo the t-shirt they made, I'd buy it in a second. lol http://teespring.com/EncarnacionParrot
  3. Slappin the bass...ball, walkin the parrot! http://dailysportsclub.com/dailyfastball/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/19f9bd1f5b8df55ee16376df8b86af3e_large.gif
  4. This. One more all-around hitter would be nice.
  5. I think we need one more bat, a more complete hitter, who will hit for average, make contact, and take the walk. The question is what position do we target for an upgrade, assuming 1B, DH, SS, and RF are spoken for. I really think trading for the remaining 3mm on Michael Young's salary would be the cheapest alternative. He's a free agent after this season, and likely wouldn't cost much in the way of prospects, and he's still a productive hitter. .288/.353/.408 4hr 18rbi 12(2b) 3(3b) 25bb 38so We could play him at 2nd, 3rd, 1st, and DH from time to time just to get that bat in the lineup. 6. To be honest MLB.com is usually pretty s*** with their IFA rankings, which is shocking considering their resources and that fact that they put on all these showcases. I mean is it me or is every other player compared to Adrian Beltre by them? lol A bunch of publications have been covering July 2 for almost 3 months now, and MLB puts their list out a week or so before the market opens? They're also missing a bunch of obvious top 30 guys like Tejada, Edie, Mauricio who everyone and their mother knows about. It's not really a big deal, and in this case I don't really see a huge departure from BA or Minorleagueball's rankings from MLB.com's. Diplan and Perez are right about where they have been on both those sites (8-10ish). Jimenez, Zapata, Torres, and Molina are at the top, though I don't get the Wasner Peguero love (they say he has a future 3 run tool and compare him to Torii Hunter?). I can see where MLB might doc Encarnacion for his lack of a position, but even their scouting report calls him the top right handed hitter in the class (as BA and Sickels have said). I don't know why a lot more scouts aren't as high on Asuncion. I'd hate to think he's become my own personal cheeseball, but everything I've seen and heard tells me this guy is going to be a pretty good player. Better for us maybe if he flies under the radar. After seeing that video of Erick Julio, I have to add him to my want list. Love that 12-6 curve with the projectable arm strength.
  7. MLB.com article on Eloy Jimenez among others. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130621&content_id=51227800&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  8. And more...
  9. Continued...
  10. MLB.com late to the party again as usual, despite their enormous resources, finally puts out their list of top 30 prospects for July 2. I'll post it for those without flash, but there's more stuff at the link. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2013/#list=int
  11. The Dodgers will offer him an insane amount of money, so that's where he'll probably go. Not that Gonzalez isn't good, but I'd probably be more interested if he was one of their position players.
  12. He hasn't been laid since the Ricciardi era, ask his wife.
  13. http://www.baseballamerica.com/majors/cuban-star-alfredo-despaigne-playing-in-mexico/ Got my hopes up when I read the headline, but unfortunately he hasn't defected. If he did, we would have to get in on that bidding. Put him in left and trade Melky if you have to. I mean look how good Puig has been, and he's not even considered to be on the same level as Despaigne, who is arguably the best player in Cuba right now.
  14. What about Carlos Ruiz from the Phillies? He's a soon-to-be free agent, having a bad season, coming off a late start due to suspension, but he's been averaged 3WAR as a catcher for the last 4 years and is solid defensively.
  15. I think I might just throw up. So the Jays take a bunch of players who are considered overdrafts (Bickford, Hollon, Murphy) and intend on paying them slot, close to slot, or even above slot. The Rays take guys who were said to have big price tags and sign them for reasonable bonuses? This just can't be real life. lol:rolleyes: Looking at their picks, the Rays had a ridiculously good draft. Ciuffo - 1.97 (slot) Stanek - ? Unroe - 1mm (only 72k above slot) Milone - 530k (slot) Wong - 393k (slot) That's good enough already, but then you add in a few below the radar sleepers: (12) Pat Blair - A Senior sign middle infielder from Wake Forest with a solid set of tools and a track record of performance. Here's the write-up I did for Blair last year: (17) Willie Calhoun - One of my sleeper picks for the draft. Small lefty second baseman, with a very nice hit tool, and surprising pop. Really good baseball player, scrappy. If they can get him to sign, I can see him being a Ray Durham type of player. If you look back on the draft thread, you'll see him on a bunch of my wish lists for later in the draft. (UFA) Not only that, but apparently the Rays also signed smallish but hard-throwing right-hander Clayton Crum (formerly of Howard) as an undrafted free agent. There are concerns with Crum's size and his injury history but his stuff is legit. I did a write up on him last year as well. Looks like the rich get richer.
  16. Someone please post the gif of him pulling a George Costanza at the Jays game.lol
  17. Looks like the guys from Drunk Jays Fans frequent this forum, beware! lol
  18. I'd be fine with that. Young is pretty bad in the field, but even without the benefit of defensive metrics I can't imagine he'd be any worse than Derosa at second.
  19. What do you guys think of trading with Philadelphia for Michael Young? The Phillies are pretty much going nowhere, and Young is a free agent after this season. Texas covered about 10mm of Young's 16mm annual salary, meaning if we traded for him in say July, there would only be about 3mm left to pay him. Now the Phillies didn't trade much to get him, two relievers who don't even rank among Texas' top 20 Prospects currently. So theoretically we should be able to get him without giving up any of our top prospects since the Phillies basically got him for free. Young is still productive despite his age, hitting .290/.357/.402 with 3hr 17rbi 12(2b) 3(3b) 25bb 36k And hitting well with RISP .288/.403/.404 and RISP/w2out .296/.406/.519 We could plug him in at second base, and he could also see time at first or third. He's not a great defender, but he should be as good as Derosa, and his bat would give our lineup more on base ability and clutch hitting.
