  1. This Spanish website claims to have a list of some of the bonuses that will be handed out. Take it with a grain of salt though. http://mundideportes.bligoo.com/listado-de-firmas-julio-2-mlb
  2. BA added to their Top 30 list today with an "Others To Watch" list (PM me if you want the full article)
  3. BA's team-by-team preview for July 2. (PM me if you want the full article, but this is all the Jays related stuff.)
  4. Pretty close to my list. 2. Gleyber Torres, ss, Venezuela 4. Luis Encarnacion, 3b, Dominican Republic 6. Marcos Diplan, rhp, Dominican Republic 8. Yeltsin Gudino, ss, Venezuela 13. Erick Julio, rhp, Colombia NR. Luis Asuncion, OF, Dominican Republic NR. Nestor Tejada, OF, Venezuela NR. Yimmelvyn Alonzo, SS, Dominican Republic NR. Roni Tapia, 3B, Dominican Republic NR. Mikey Edie, OF, Venezuela NR. Yeffri Deaza, SS, Dominican Republic NR. Jeremias Portorreal, OF, Dominican Republic NR. Rene Pinto, C, Venezuela NR. Cecilio Aybar SS, Dominican Republic (formerly Obispo Aybar) NR. Luis Enrique Barrios, LHP, Colombia NR. Ihan Bernal, C, Panama We have about 3mm (including the 5% overage) so I can see us getting three top 30 guys like last year, plus a bunch of the lower rated guys. We can sign up to 6 guys for 50k or less without counting against our bonus pool, and as many as we want for 10k or less.
  5. So updates from todays GCL game which we just lost in extra innings. Alford 1-4 1r 1bb 1so 1sb .227 Barreto 0-5 1so .385 Jansen 0-1 3r 4bb .333 Dupont 2-4 1r 3rbi 1(2b) 1bb 1so 1sb .286 De Aza 1-2 1rbi 1so .300 Lietz 2.1ip 2h 2r 2bb 4so Greene 2ip 1h 0r 1bb 2so Smoral 0.1ip 0h 1r 3bb 0so
  6. Some excerpts from Dirk Hayhurst's chat today:
  7. I don't really mind. The BA article says there's a lot of parity from 20-40 in the rankings. Probably means he'll sign for cheaper though.
  8. lol. True.
  9. The Cuban pitcher?
  10. Sorry, nothing in my prospect data base on him.
  11. If anyone wants the full subscriber-only article just PM me and I'll either send it to you in the body of the message or via e-mail if you prefer (I will of course be using a pseudo email to protect my own identity.)
  12. Yeah, there's definitely more velocity in there if they can unlock it, either by finding a way to get him to add more strength/weight, or refining his delivery so the arm stroke is smoother. The changeup is his best secondary, but his curve is also solid. It's a long shot, but there are definitely tools there.
  13. Anyone know the details of the 2 unearned runs? Were they legit errors by the fielders or generous scoring in Stroman's favor? Thanks.
  14. Not many, but here's a few.
  15. Nate would be an improvement on Melky for sure. If only Melky could adequately play centerfield, we could target a corner outfielder.
  16. I do not mean trade those players for better versions of themselves. That would not make any sense. I'm speaking in general terms about sacrificing power at those positions for more contact and on base ability. Unfortunately the market doesn't line up with our needs, as the players most likely to offer help with the bat are mostly corner positions. The hitting from 3rd base could certainly be improved upon, and there are options out there such as Aramis Ramirez and Michael Young who wouldn't cost any of our high end prospects, but Brett Lawrie is pretty much going nowhere, so it's a moot point.
  17. Hey Gordie, that high school catcher we drafted, Dan Jansen, had a pretty good game. 3-5 2r 2rbi hitting .375 so far.
  18. Barreto 3-5 with 1r and 1rbi today to bring his average up to .444 With how well he's doing I'm tempted to throw most of our bonus pool (maybe 2.2mm) at shortstop Glebyer Torres on July 2 to beat out the Cubs. Torres is said to be very similar to Barreto except with more power (15-20 per year) and a better chance to stick at short. Both were trained by Ciro Barrios, who we have done a lot of business with in the past.
  19. Don't know much about him other than this:
  20. That's awesome for you and his family. Congrats. He's one of my sleeper prospects from this years draft despite being a senior. Lefties who throw low 90s with a plus changeup are always valuable commodities. If the Jays can refine his delivery to get more velocity (his delivery has some funk to it), or if his command improves significantly we could have another Sean Nolin type of prospects here. Good luck to your nephew.
  21. I know I keep harping on this but we need at least one more good hitter, maybe two. There are way too many low batting average, low on base types in our lineup, that it makes it difficult for us to scratch out wins without the homerun. The positions we could most use an upgrade in are CF, C, 2B. Right now we're 6th in slugging (duh), but 16th in the MLB in team average and 19th in on base percentage. At this point I would trade Rasmus 14 homeruns for a guy who can play just as good defense, but hit for a higher average and get on base over .350. Same with Arencibia. I would trade the homeruns, for better defence, average, and on-base percentage. That would balance our lineup out much better.
  22. He's 24 and in Rookie Ball though so he's not really a prospect.
  23. Nothing new right now. So far we've heard them linked to Yeltsin Gudino (BA), and Wilson Amador (Spanish ESPN).
  24.
