  1. DSL Updates D. Barreto 0-4 k .299 (17g 67ab .299/.422/.343 9rbi 3(2b) 10bb 7so 6sb 1cs Urena 1-4 1(2b) .288 (17g 73ab .288/.354/.370 13rbi 6(2b) 8bb 17so 2sb 2cs) Tejada 0-3 bb .264 (16g 53ab .264/.418/.415 1hr 12rbi 5(2b) 10bb 13so 3sb 2cs) Demorizzi 2-4 2r 2hr 3rbi .276 (.276/.432/.534 4hr 15rbi 3(2b) 16bb 15so) Castro 5ip 0h 0r 2bb 9so 0.60era (4gs 1-1 0.60era 15ip 10h 4bb 19so)
  2. Any other second basemen, we could target? How is Scooter Gennett doing with Milwaukee?
  3. I didn't say anything about trading Bautista or Johnson. You should probably go back and read it again. That was the poster before me. First, Stroman never took a PED (which means performance enhancing drug), he was suspended for taking a banned substance which is not the same thing. Jeremy Jeffress was suspended on two separate occasions for smoking weed, and I'm pretty sure weed is not a PED.
  4. A.J.'s contact skills are just ridiculous. He doesn't take a lot of walks, but he's not going to strikeout a ton either, and he can steal bases. I see him being a Jose Altuve type at the plate (high average, not a lot of walks, lots of contact, steals, very little power), but with plus defense at a premium position. That would be a pretty good player. With ability to hit for average, avoid the strikeout, make contact, and play defense he's like the anti-Arencibia.
  5. Yeah, Altuve's good but he's not Sanchez good. He has a 300 woba this year and a 325woba last year which is average and below average respectively. I think he's better than his stats, but Houston has a lot of infield depth behind him in Deshields, and even Fontana. I think it would take a package of good prospects, but not elite prospects.
  6. I think Wong is gettable. Would probably take someone like Stroman, who they could use to fill in for Motte and then put back into the rotation at some later point. I'm not sure if that's a good deal for us though, as I love Stroman. Maybe if we can construct a deal around Stilson and maybe Nolin. I don't sense that St. Louis is all that high on Wong anymore and with the emergence of Carpenter he's blocked. I would hang onto Johnson unless something really good comes along. We would have him to make a run, then qualify him and either have him accept and make another run with him next year, or take a comp pick in a very good draft.
  7. What about Jose Altuve? Houston wants and needs young pitching and we have a ton of it.
  8. Okay, so I posted the latest BA article on the IFA market at the old MLB Blue Jays site as a safety measure. You can see more at the link. http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?msg=91353.2&nav=messages&webtag=ml-bluejays
  9. Did Milone sign yet? I can't remember for some reason.
  10. They have been strongly linked to Yrizarri already, and are also being connected to Devers now, after he seemed like a forgone conclusion to be going to the Red Sox. I wouldn't put it past Texas to play fast and loose with the rules given what they did with Jairo Beras last year. So if they sign both Devers and Yrizarri for relatively low bonuses, you'll know why.
  11. No, it doesn't carry over. I meant hopefully they spread it around on some lesser known 16-17 year-old IFA's who emerged later in 2012 or early in 2013. The Rangers for instance, who still had almost their full 2.9mm in bonus pool space for 2012 (since they didn't sign anyone but Berra who did not count against the pool because he was 17), recently signed lefty Francis Cespedes. The article is here: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/rangers-sign-dominican-lefty-francis-cespedes-for-750000/ If the Jays still have that 800k, we could still put it to good use, by paying it to lesser known players from trainers of players who we actually do want this year, with the wink-wink nudge-nudge, understanding that we'll get their guys at a slight discount. People suspect that's how we got Barreto for so cheap (1.4mm) in 2012.
  12. Not yet Dougie. I have to check, but I'm pretty sure he can't sign until next May or June now because of his age falsification. The same thing recently happened to Venezuelan lefty Gabriel Noguera, and the article says he can't sign until next spring as part of the punishment.
  13. Here are the original reports on the guys we did sign.
  14. Speaking of IFA's, the Blue Jays signed a Venezuelan infielder named Luis Castro last year for $800,000k but voided his contract after they discovered a pre-existing knee injury. Castro who was rated by Baseball America as the 9th best international free agent in 2012, eventually signed with the Rockies for only 50k. He's hitting pretty well so far this year, so I hope we put that 800k we saved to good use.
  15. I want this shirt man. lol http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2013/06/19/what-the-shirt/#more-17011
  16. He'd be a nice get for 3rd base, but I think we're forced to run with Lawrie. No point creating controversy while we're on this roll. Gallardo would be nice, but he'll cost too much.
  17. It's not a big deal guys. I was just being facetious. Admin already told me it was okay, I just wanted everyone to know big brother BA was watching. lol Anyway I don't think there's much BA can do anyway. I just wanted to make sure there's no way this board gets taken down or whatever because of me.
  18. Okay, so I have the latest BA update on July 2 free agents, but to protect this board from further Baseball America goonery I have posted it on the old board and linked it to here. Quote parts of it here if you guys like, just not the full article. http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?msg=91353.1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-bluejays
  19. When Unroe is killing it in rookie ball I'm going to be so pissed. Would have taken him over Hollon everyday of the week, even though I like Hollon.
  20. Hey Dougie, found some new footage of Mayky Perez from the Perfect Game showcase last weekend, that I thought you'd enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuoqlpI0JR8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaFNHoOoKGk&feature=youtu.be
  21. We didn't pass on Denney, the Red Sox took him 2 picks before us. But I agree with the O'Neill pick. I would have preferred him or Healy to Patrick Murphy. I don't know how Parker can argue and injured pitcher was at the top of his board, when there were so many healthy pitchers who were rated much more highly than him. lol
  22. Healy signed for only 500k too. I definitely would have preferred him to Murphy. He's a real sleeper pick with the bat.
  23. Hey don't hate on Crouse, he has played pretty decent so far this year.
  24. Definitely wouldn't mind getting a top 10 pick in next year's draft. I'm almost finished my preliminary write-up, and there's already a handful of players I like more than Bickford who should still be available then. Question, should I post the write up in this thread, create a new thread, or post in on BlueBirdBanter and just link to it here?
  25. Thanks, I forgot about that.
