  1. I'll give him a break. It's his first year in a full season league and he's hanging in there. He hit the wall at about the mid-point of the year. He was hitting .274 pre all-star which was not bad. We'll see how he does in the FSL next year. He plays a solid second base, makes contact ( only 14%k rate) and he has some pop. He'll have to learn to take more walks (only 7.5%) and avoid the prolonged slump. Also the rule of thumb is usually 1000ab before you can fully judge a hitter.
  2. I agree. What's he doing now?
  3. Andy Burns slowly adjusting to AA, 2-4 today with 1hr 2rbi to bring his average up to 230. Over his last 10 games .289/.341/.605 2hr 4rbi 4(2b) 1(3b) 3bb 8so (7.3bb% 19.5K%)
  4. What I don't like about DJF is they try to act like Blue Jays fans or fans in general don't now anything about anything. That they have to show us all how it really is. They're staunchly contrarian to the point of self-contradiction. They also often create a "strawman" positions to every issue, ascribe it to the fans at large, then handily destroy said "strawman" arguments that most knowledgeable fans don't support to begin with. Their condescension borders on grandiosity. Particularly when it comes to the draft or to IFA or prospects. They act as though none of us know anything about these prospects until the day of the draft or until the newspaper writes about them. If someone claims they wan't this prospect or don't want that prospect their response is almost always: "Fans are freaking out about players that they hadn't even heard of until a week ago." Get off your high horse for goodness sake. I'd say a good amount of the Blue Jays fan base (and by this I mean the die hards and internet crowd) know a lot more about these things than those guys give them credit for.
  5. Some recent-ish video of some of our prospects. Tyler Gonzalez
  6. Probably DSL. He's somewhat raw at the plate. Speaking of which, at what point do we convert Jesus Gonzalez to the mound? The guy was a 1.2mm bonus baby a couple of years ago, but he's not doing a thing with the bat, and he supposedly has a cannon for an arm in the outfield.
  7. Producshion!
  8. This week's ASK BA discusses Marcus Stroman.
  9. BA's Best Tools in the Eastern League. Surprised he's not on the list for best breaking pitch with his 70 grade slider. But this is good news regardless as Gausman is said to have a 60 grade changeup.
  10. Tellez hitting better over his last 10 games. .297/.341/.405 3bb 6so (7.5bb% 15k%)
  11. Finished with 4ip 3h 1r 1bb 5so Nice start for a kid who was already dominating the DSL with these numbers. 5-2 1.36era 53ip 40h 12bb 71so
  12. Robson with another nice start tonight 6ip 7h 0r 2bb 2so (so far).
  13. Norris line from tonight's game 4ip 2h 0r 4bb 6so
  14. Barreto makes it to BA's Prospect Hotsheet this week Mitch Nay makes the "In the team photo" section Former Jay Descalfani makes the list at 12, and JP Crawford (who the Jays were considering drafting at 10) is off to a hot start coming in at number 10.
  15. Old news but just confirmed. Pirates got one of the few unsigned top 50 guys left.
  16. The GCL Jays with a double-header today. Game 1 Barreto 0-0 1r Dupont 0-3 1bb 2so Tellez 1-3 1r 1(2b) DeSouza 1-3 1rbi Cenas 1-1 1rbi Game 2 (In progress) Barreto 0-2 2so Tellez 2-2 1(2b) 1rbi Cenas 0-2 Jansen 1-2 Smoral in now (no stats yet)
