  1. Sean Nolin Daniel Norris D.J. Davis Rowdy Tellez
  2. DJF finally puts out some worthwhile content, and not surprisingly it's from someone other than Stoeten. In interview with Jays' minor league field coordinator Doug Davis. http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2013/08/19/blue-jays-prospect-round-up-with-doug-davis-minor-league-field-coordinator/#more-18364 A few tidbits: Marcus Stroman Clinton Hollon Called it wit the Stroman comp. A.J. Jimenez
  3. Smoral 3ip 2h 1r 2bb 3so Progress? Seriously though, we're going to have to be patient with this guy. Norris is finally starting to figure it out, and I think it will take Smoral just as long if not a little longer. 18 hits and 20 strikeouts in 18.2 innings is good, the 24 walks is not obviously.
  4. That was just BP's opinion though. The report is also something like 3 years old. We won't really know till we see him in action state side. They didn't pay very much for him from what I understand and the Mexican league is supposed to about on level with High A or Double A.
  5. Looks like the Astros acquired him. It's a worthwhile gamble for the cost I think, and Jeff Luhnow has a good eye for talent. Cecil Fielder part deux?
  6. Hollon pitched well early today cruising through 3 innings without giving up a run. However he had some trouble in the 4th and 5th when he gave up 4 runs though. Finished with 4.1ip 4h 4r 2bb 5so. 4innings for a recently signed high school arm seems almost unheard of for the Jays. They're really not babying him are they. lol
  7. A lot can change obviously but I don't see Jackson getting to us. Touki might actually make it to us with so many guys rising up in the rankings. Here are a few reports I've read about Chavis. Video and report here from the PG All-American Classic where he won the home run derby. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/michael-chavis-wins-the-rawlings-home-run-challenge-at-pg-all-american/
  8. Just read about this player and he sounds somewhat intriguing: Japhet Amador Position: 1B Height/Weight: 6-4 220lbs Bats/Throws: Right/Right Age: 26 League: Mexican (2013) 400ab .368/.419/.693 36hr 121rbi 22(2b) 38bb 59so Here's what Jason Parks from BP had to say about him though:
  9. He pitched yesterday actually. They're kind of going slow with him I guess. He had some arm fatigue issues during his high school season.
  10. Morgan with hopefully our comp pick. Right now I want one of Sean Reid-Foley/Dylan Cease at 11 and Derek Hill/Michael Chavis with our other pick. I think you'll like Chavis. He's received comparisons to Javier Baez (dat bat speed) but he's much more athletic. He actually reminds me more of Lawrie.
  11. Can't wait to see what Hollon can do today in Bluefield.
  12. That's a relief. Having said that, does anyone have the vid of the whole start as that's clearly a game broadcast?
  13. I missed the game, can someone please explain what happened?
  14. Promising lefty prospect Zak Wasiewski aka Scrabble 3.0 with a nice start today: 5ip 6h 0r 0bb 4so On the year he's 4-1 with a 2.68era. Has to cut down on the walks though (23), so today's line is a nice change. In other news, Sanchez pitching in Dunedin: 5ip 4h 0r 1bb 6so (game in progress).
  15. Not really for me personally. Here's what I said immediately after the Hollon pick. Followed by.
  16. I agree, he's very stubborn. If he doesn't like a prospect, he will literally hate him forever. If that prospect succeeds it's always because of some change or improvement that "no one" could have anticipated. I usually take anything Law says with a grain of salt. I just brought him up as 1 guy that doesn't think Beede is a top 10 pick.
  17. You're right about the defense. I love how in the clip a guy in the crowd is like "No one's getting to that," and then you see Hill come out of nowhere and get to it. As far as his hitting he hit well at the PG national. There's footage of it but I've been too lazy to check it out yet. Here's him hitting 2 homeruns in a game FWIW.
  18. Keith Law for one doesn't think Beede's a top 10 player.
  19. Colon's stock has really fallen the last year or so. He's currently not in their top 10 prospects by most accounts. I think he could be a decent gamble for our black hole at second.
  20. I'll have a write up for a lot of them soon. For now a quick summary. For each. Dylan Cease RHP - Fastball 91-94 up to 97. Free and easy. Nice looking slider. Michael Gettys OF/RHP - Two way player. 6.4 running speed. 100mph from the outfield (92-94 from mound). Plus plus power. Gregory Deichmann 3B - Power hitting third baseman with plus plus bat speed. Very good athlete (6.72 runner) with strong arm. Sean Reid-Foley RHP - big hard-throwing pitcher with 91-94 fastball up to 96. Arguably best breaking ball among high schoolers. Kyle Schwarber C/OF - Best college hitter in the class. Lefty with chance to hit for power and average as well as get on base. (2013) 221ab .376/.468/.674 18hr 54rbi 10(2b) 1(3b) 42bb 30so 4sb 3cs - Hit .343 with 8 homeruns in the Cape Cod League Derek Hill OF - 5 tool centerfielder with strong arm. Very fast. Makes highlight reel catches in center. Hitting tools look good. Bloodlines. Here's some good video of Foley sitting 93-94 and hitting 96 with a plus curve. Here's Derek Hills catch at the PG National. A couple other catches of his.
  21. I wouldn't mind getting Christian Colon either.
  22. The Braves wanted him in the off season. I wonder if what we could have got then is better than what we're getting now. Tommy La Stella would have been a decent return IMO.
  23. Current reverse standings with my tentative mock. 1. Houston (.322) - Carlos Rodon 2. Miami (.381) - Trea Turner 3. Chicago W (.390) - Tyler Beede 4. Milwaukee (.437) - Michael Cederoth 5. Chicago C (.437) - Tyler Kolek 6. San Francisco (.441) - Jacob Gatewood 7. Philadelphia (.445) - Alex Jackson 8. Los Angeles A (.449) - Jeff Hoffman 9. Minnesota (.453) - Touki Toussaint 10. Toronto (.454) - Dylan Cease / Michael Gettys / Gregory Deichmann 11. Toronto (Comp) - Sean Reid-Foley / Kyle Schwarber / Derek Hill
