  1. fair enough. I agree. We'll see what happens in the off season. ps...Alford might not suck.
  2. Well that's an interesting take. Who do you think they will target in free agency?
  3. Grichuk isn't going anywhere for the next 4 years. So does that mean we don't compete until 2024..lol Lourdes isn't a free agent until 2025 and he's the one guy you actually want on the roster.
  4. checkmate...give me a break. We all know why Alford isn't playing. His fate was sealed the moment the Fisher trade was made. Atkins called him an every day centre fielder. Our outfield will consist of Hernandez, Gurriel Jr., Grichuk and Fisher next year.
  5. No actually, I'm taking into account the words of Bobby Meacham and Corey Hart. They both said Alford made meaningful changes and improvement to his swing. The stats just back those words. Really though, what the f*** could a baseball manager and a hitting coach know about baseball? Clearly you know a f*** of a lot more than Meacham and Hart. Let's keep rolling with McKinney and Fisher. They're both crap defenders and McKinney's Wrc+ at the MLB level is 84 and Fisher's is 75. If you just keep praying to some voodoo god maybe they'll start hitting and gain the ability to play defense. Most people who want to see Alford play aren't highly convicted that he's a great player. We just want him to get an opportunity. Maybe he will suck, but the other guys given opportunities have looked like hot garbage, so we want to see something else.
  6. Hurling insults my way is the appropriate way of validating your own...lol. Alford did make swing changes early in the year. Since those swing changes he's had 268 plate appearances going back to May 1 and put up an OPS north of .850. You always want the largest sample size possible. 268 plate appearances isn't a ton of plate appearances, but it's not a completely insignificant amount either. My belief is that maybe the adjustments he's made has helped his game and he is a much better player. I'm not wholly convicted but he's had enough success given his elite athleticism that I want to see more. I'm not alone in this. How is this a nonsensical view. You believe he's s*** despite his recent success because you've declared him to be garbage and you're never wrong so it must be so. The more recent stats don't back you up, but you fall back on the belief that you're the smartest man on the planet, so those stats be damned. Yes. I am the one with nonsensical viewpoints. Tell me again how great Fisher and McKinney are, because those are the guys preventing Alford from getting at bats.
  7. It's right under insignificant sample sizes. Alford has 42 plate appearances spread over 3 years. Really any PA prior to his well documented swing changes don't mean much. He has 10 PA in September. 3 for 9 with 2 SO and a HPB. That is also a meaningless set of stats, because it's 10 PA..lol.
  8. The floor starts with defense. Fisher has terrible instincts in the field. He's never going to be a good defensive outfielder, which means his bat has to make up for that. 400 plate appearances isn't a large sample size, but it's not a completely insignificant amount. If he doesn't improve dramatically over his next couple hundred plate appearances he could just be a AAAA player. Some guys just can't make the adjustment to big league secondary pitches.
  9. We just need to move Vlad to first and he will be fine.
  10. Fisher looks like Teoscar in the outfield. He doesn't read the ball well, poor instincts and judgement. He's never going to be a good defender. Decent speed doesn't make you a great outfielder. Rajai Davis was never a great outfielder either.
  11. I'm not obsessing over the last year Alford was good. He made swing adjustments in season. He had a .473 OPS in April. Since he working through adjustments to his swing he has an OPS around .900. I'm obsessing over the past 3 and half months because his numbers are really good. I'm also obsessing over a guy who can actually play defense, because every one of our outfielders outside of Davis are below average defenders.
  12. It's well documented Alford made some pretty big swing changes in season in Buffalo. He's performed really well since then, but lets obsess over his minor league stats from 2017 and ignore the fact that this guy can play defense. Keep on jerking off at Fisher's minor league stats and ignore the fact that he's struck out 36% of the time at the MLB level and let a pop fly hit himself in the f***ing face.
  13. Even if you're highly convicted in your evaluation, this part of the season does not matter and you're actually going to benefit with losses. Generally speaking if a guy is giving a game or two and he sucks as you suspected you sit him. Alford was given 1 start and was 1 for 3 on a night where the team only had 2 hits so he was facing good pitching. He also made an excellent defensive play that showed his elite speed and defensive upside. Generally speaking when you give a guy a game and he plays well you give him another until he shits the bed. The Jays sat him the next 4 or is now 5 games.
  14. Groshan's is 19 and missed most of the year due to injury. Penciling him in for elite production is a tad bullish. We can't do anything about Grichuk anyways and the way his contract is structured it's not something that should kill our chances anyways. We have money to spend.
  15. I don't see why Atlanta would not bring him back
  16. The game was out of hand. They could have given Alford Grichuk's 4th AB. It's ridiculous really.
  17. tellez has easy power....
  18. why in the f*** is hernandez playing over Alford?
  19. No I'm the lone member of the Alford fan club. I want to see him get opportunities!
  20. really...teoscar pinch hitting....f*** me
  21. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're not married and don't have any daughters.
  22. They definitely seem to rate him a lot higher than Alford. It's nice to see a guy who can play defense in the outfield. He needs to get the bat going though. He could be a decent 4th outfielder though.
  23. Fisher with 10Ks in his last 17 plate appearances....I'm sure glad I get to watch that.
