  1. Danny Jansen takes the wRC+ catcher lead away from Kirk. Right now it's 154 for Jansen and 151 for Kirk. Just ridiculous.
  2. The Rocket almost thrown out admiring the liner lol
  3. Why did Kirk leave? Injury?
  4. Regarding Groshans' power. Here is part of his interview with Jonathan Mayo from this spring: https://www.mlb.com/news/jordan-groshans-spring-training-interview
  5. I didn't start watching until 2006. My first game was that summer vs Seattle. Extra inning game. The Blue Jays loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 11th. Frank Catalanotto had a walk-off single after there were two outs. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TOR/TOR200607160.shtml I thought it was Shaun Marcum making his first start after moving from the bullpen. But apparently I'm remembering that wrong. That was a few days later apparently.
  6. The high performance department determined there was an 8.5% chance tonight against Lorenzen that Springer fell on a swing, hurt himself, and missed 6 weeks.
  7. Every Tiedemann start has been on a Friday this year. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/tariq-tiedemann/sa3018096/game-log?position=P&season=
  8. I didn't mind the Apple broadcast. Not a single f***ing gambling ad!
  9. Big brain Chuckles pulling all the right levers here.
  10. Orelvis has 11 singles this year and 12 homeruns.
  11. I don't think a 2B/LF would be the most likely avenue for a female athlete. I think it would be as a catcher. The opposing baserunning could be an issue but maybe she becomes a great framer and has the grit for the position. Batting stand on top of the plate with a small strike zone trying to slap the ball, take a walk or get a HBP
  12. Jansen couldn't maintain the 520 wRC+ he entered today with. Only a 517 wRC+ in the game today. Drops it to 519 on the season. Bum!
  13. Since when does Romano throw 80 mph sliders? He might not be completely healthy. Edit - and he's mostly been 93-94 with the fastball. He did hit 97 once
  14. I'm replying way late here but Gameday had that as a called strike not a swinging strike so it looked to be a horrible call.
  15. Was the Gurriel K as bad as it looks on Gameday? It was like 6 inches below the zone.
  16. I think the mound needs to be moved back. Like 6-12 inches or something. The pitchers are simply too good now. Throwing too hard and their arsenals are only getting more optimized.
  17. I wonder if Manoah is tipping his slider. So many tough takes by the Yankees tonight.
  18. I'm still not sure about the methodology for these ump scorecards. There needs to be more nuance for those borderline calls. A few egregious ones like the strike to end the game or the first-pitch ball to Chapman, but look at the most impactful call. Like come on, that shouldn't be held against any human umpire.
  19. It can't be understated how horrendous this franchise was for more than 15 years at developing position player talent. Pitching wasn't great either but I'll just focus on the position players here. Here's some WAR totals from Fangraphs on the value some notable homegrown (drafted or signed as IFA) players provided the Blue Jays in their career. For those that entered the organization from the year 2000 until players like Gurriel Jr., Jansen, Bichette, Biggio, Guerrero started showing up in 2018, 2019. Aaron Hill: 12.4 WAR for the Blue Jays Kevin Pillar: 8.5 WAR Adam Lind: 7.0 WAR Travis Snider: 1.7 WAR Ryan Goins: 0.5 WAR Dalton Pompey: 0.2 WAR Eric Thames: -0.1 WAR JP Arencibia: -0.3 WAR Moises Sierra: -0.7 WAR That isn't a complete leaderboard and I'm sure there are a bunch of guys that only played 70 games and put up like 0.6 WAR in their Blue Jays career. I just picked some position players of "note" THE BLUE JAYS HAVE NOT HAD A HOMEGROWN PLAYER PROVIDE THEM WITH AT LEAST 10 WAR FOR THEIR CAREER SINCE DRAFTING AARON HILL IN 2003 THE BLUE JAYS HAVE NOT HAD A HOMEGROWN PLAYER PROVIDE THEM WITH AT LEAST 10 WAR FOR THEIR CAREER SINCE DRAFTING AARON HILL IN 2003 That might be the worst record in all major NA sports franchises. Vladdy is going to break that trend this season though. Maybe I forgot a player but I don't think I did.
  20. Manoah is a bit of an oddity in today's game. Sitting 92-93 in the first inning and now he's pumping in 96 after 96. Most guys seem max effort all the time; pretty consistent velocity.
