  1. Breakout game for Belt. 3 for 4 with a HR incoming.
  2. Should be taking Gausman out. Throwing 88 mph fastballs is troubling.
  3. Belt might just be completely washed. Hasn't had 1 good swing all season and keeps swinging through 91 mph fastballs in the zone.
  4. Time to call Barger up to play SS
  5. Picking Lukes over Lopez was a pointed decision by Ross and Schneider that the barrio is DEAD. If Otto had the last name Johnson he'd be on the team right now!

Buffalo also just re-structed with Nyheim Hines. It was kinda weird how little RB he played after the midseason trade to the Bills. They signed Trent Sherfield today which sounds like a nice addition. Shakir was starting to break out at the end of the year too. I think WR should look a bit better next season.
  7. lol he probably couldn't believe his luck that Cuba made the semis and that they were held in Miami.
  8. Does Buck have citizenship? Might have to get him out of the booth and throw some BP from the mound. Well. Just gotta beat Mexico and Colombia and there is still hope. The run differential will be an issue but mercying GB will help at least.
  9. With this pitching staff are we thinking the 5th inning mercy rule triggers or the 7th inning?
  10. Apparently the one-time super prospect Anderson Espinoza finally made his major league debut in 2022. After his 18 innings PitchingBot gave him 27 stuff and 20 command. Ouch. Hanser Alberto (position player) was given 20 for stuff and 20 command haha PitchingBot and Pitching+ both love Trent Thornton. I guess his 4.11 ERA last year was better than I remember him pitching. It will be interesting to see if he makes the team. It looks like he does have an option year left.
  11. Yeah, you must be right. I was confused by all the values but 20-80 scale clears it up. It gives Aroldis Chapman 80 stuff and 31 command lol
  12. As is pitchingBot, not that I was familiar with that model before reading the Fangraphs post. Kevin Gausman led qualified starters in both Pitching+ and pitchingBot ERA in 2022. And very interestingly, Berrios had a 3.35 pitchingBot ERA: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=25&season=2022&month=0&season1=2022&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2022-01-01&enddate=2022-12-31&sort=16,a
  13. I've always heard his pitch called a changeup. So I doubt he is doing a screwball arm action to throw it.
  14. They also said Adrián Hernández was throwing a screwball yesterday. Whether it's a changeup or a screwball he got 5 whiffs on it out of the 7 swings the Pirates took.
  15. Yeah thankfully it does look to be intentional, despite my trolling about it.
  16. If Bassitt gets the TJS now maybe he has a chance to be back for the playoffs in 2024.
  17. Keith Law said he lost a bit of velo last year. Maybe it is back and then some "Robberse, the best Dutch prospect currently in the minors, lost some weight going into 2022 and it cost him over a mile an hour on his fastball, something he has to reverse to be more than a fifth starter. He’s a command guy with a great delivery and good spin on two distinct breaking balls. If he threw 96 mph, he’d be a top-10 pitching prospect in the sport. He looks like he could put some weight back on and get himself to solid-average velo, at which point he’s probably a mid-rotation starter given his feel for pitching and present command. I’m betting he gets there."
  18. Tiedemann strikes out Javy Baez with 99.4 gas
  19. The Blue Jays bought a lemon! Flipping in 67mph curveballs and grooving in 88mph fastballs
  20. Had to mute Buck already. Bring back Tabby!
  21. Chris Bassitt sitting 89... Uh oh.
  22. Speaking of Orelvis I haven't heard a thing about him in Spring. He's on the 40-man so I assume he's there...
  23. I was looking at the ZIPS projections earlier and it also likes Davis Schneider(?) as a 100 wRC+ bat as a 2B/3B. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/davis-schneider/sa3004518/stats?position=2B/3B Who? I'm not as up on the milb system as much as I once was but I still would have thought I had at least heard of this guy. I even searched his name in this thread. Only one mention since 2018 - and that was a copy-pasted prospects chat lol The hit tool probably stinks and maybe he isn't a prospect at all. I just thought it was funny that ZIPS sees this seemingly random player in the system as a league average mlb bat.
  24. Vlad looks huge lol I think the ship has to have sailed now in regards to him slimming down.
  25. Not exactly related to the 2023 Blue Jays but I thought it was a cool photo
