  1. 2015 will be his 8th major league season.
  2. BTW, Pentecost is back throwing and batting: http://www.rocketsports-ent.com/hoffman-and-pentecost/ http://www.rocketsports-ent.com/osuna-and-pentecost-in-dunedin/ And Hoffman was said to be up to 89-90 in his bullpens, but that article was from 3 weeks ago: http://www.rocketsports-ent.com/sweatshirt-for-hoffman/ Hoffman has apparently been throwing bullpens every Monday and Friday. Back to throwing some breaking balls too.
  3. Hopefully his personality doesn't hold back his talent as much as it did with Bonds.
  4. Goins, Kawasaki and Travis are all preferable options to Izturis. He was the worst player in baseball in 2013 and will be two years older while also having missed virtually the entire 2014. They should just release Izturis and save the roster spot.
  5. Agreed. Baseball America has really fallen.
  6. It's top 100 prospect list season so I'll post this site that aggregates many prospect rankings (maybe too many, as some sites I've never even heard of). Not too many of the big guys have lists out yet, but they should be coming in the next week or two. http://fantasyrundown.com/2015-mlb-prospect-rankings/
  7. Nay's prospect status is buoyed by his raw power and the hope it will eventually translate into game power. The 34 doubles he hit in Lansing last year (only 3 HRs) gave a glimmer of hope in that respect. Hopefully he can breakout in 2015.
  8. I don't want to re-kindle the somewhat petty blue jays/orioles stuff going on in this thread but orioleshangout truly is from another world. Unanimous agreement on the man in white, Bautista PEDs, and they all strangely seem to think that the Blue Jays had offered Hoffman and the Orioles turned it down.
  9. RealAccountant is a troll. Just ignore him.
  10. Decent article on this subject. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/drew-hutchison-2015-breakout-candidate/
  11. How the f*** does Olney have over a million twitter followers? - twice what Kenny Ken has. I couldn't agree more with njh in that this is feeling like the Dickey situation. Time to preemptively start an angry mob to hunt down Eddie Rogers. Sign below to sign up: Angry mob: 43211234
  12. Orioleshangout chimes in on the Hoffman rumour: http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php/145599-Toronto-looking-for-New-President-to-be-Duquette?p=3723827#post3723827 What an exercise in degeneracy that entire website is.
  13. Given the somewhat formulaic nature of arbitration, that might be one reason the Blue Jays were unable or unwilling to reach a middle ground with Donaldson and avoid arbitration. Maybe playing hardball for that extra million saved on his 2014 salary turns into saving around 3 million in his fourth year arbitration salary, due to how arbitration numbers seem to rely heavily on the previous years' amount.
  14. Too bad. Hopefully he's never with the big league team.
  15. Good thing AA isn't likely involved in these negotiations with fellow Greek Angelos. Otherwise I'd expect a barge full of lambs and tzatziki on its way to Toronto, with Pompey, Norris and Hoffman on their way to Baltimore.
  16. Lefties will have positive horizontal movement on two-seamers, righties negative.
  17. Interestingly, Hutchison actually has more horizontal movement on his sinker than Stroman does. Link. But that doesn't mean it's a better pitch. Stroman throws it almost 2 mph faster and definitely has better command of it. Hutch's is much more of a 2-seamer - less vertical movement than Stroman's. His sinker got hit much harder than his 4-seamer did in 2014. I agree that if he could get some more traditional sinker movement on the pitch it would help Hutch a lot. His 2-seamers were only hit for groundballs 39% of the time.

    NBA Thread

I've never understood why people consider the turnovers category when talking about double/triple/quadruple doubles. Unless you're referring to free throws.
  19. The guy who wrote this article had probably never heard of Heaney, Semien, or Souza before they were traded.
  20. Decent article about just how good Stroman was after picking up his sinker. http://www.faketeams.com/2015/1/9/7522791/marcus-stroman-2015-breakout-player
  21. Like many others, I have been able to use mlb.tv for the past two years without being blacked out. However you should keep in mind that no guarantee that it won't be blocked in canada this season.
  22. Personally I'm still holding onto hope for Buck Coats.
  23. Wins can be added more efficiently at 2B than RP imo.
