    Jose has done it before, JPA is beyond hope. Jones, and i'm fairly certain longoria will get 30. I'm not really sold on goldscmidt defensively or that he can be consistent with what he's doing this year offensively,but he sure would be an upgrade at 1st. Something or someone in baltimore turned it around for davis. He should do ok in RC,and his offense will be enough to have us overlook his mediocre defense f he plays a position. Any 5 of the players mentioned would help immensely . It's a good thing that hypothetical scenarios don't cost a red cent. i

    Hate to see the nats make it playing in that weak division. Their winning streak comes at the expense of the marlins.mets and philly. Reds deserve a wc spot. Texas should be able to turn it around..where did the offense go? Seems in the east, no one wants to catch the rays.Love to see cleveland get in, they still hurting from the james debacle.

    If a rule is transgressed, then it's not a home run... eg pine tar incident..., but legally hitting a ball fair out of the park has to be a home run. Now, are u saying if a player hits it out and suffers a heart attack rounding the bases, it would not count? Could they bring in a pinch runner, and drag away the corpse? But seriously, if player twists ankle and cannot continue.. how would the scorer rule it?

    A home run is the ONLY event in baseball that 100% guarantees at least 1 run,(other than a bases loaded walk) and it's the sexiest event in baseball bar none. A 30-40 home run guy,will usually accumulate 150-170 hits...Adam Dunn not withstanding, so it's not as if a HR hitter cannot get on base. So a team needs 5 30-40 HR players, and their run production problems come to an end,netting around 250 HR for the year. Also this will guarantee an explosive attendance increase of moonshot loving fans. Even with what we have now, we're 2nd in HRs so this should get us over the top,and another 2 starters wouldn't hurt. Get er done AA/ Beeston. GO JAYS GO !!

    Olerud363, there is a positive in being the best of the bad, in that we are in this position due to being in the toughest division. Name any team that would have a better record if they were put in the AL east. Ok, we don't get a better pick, but would you really want the jays to purposely tank for 2 months, not me. I don't think we're too far removed from contending for a WC berth next year. You are one of the better posters, but your stance on blaming cito for our woes i believe is way off base, now beeston..well, that is very plausible.

    Just because someone doesn't agree with the majority, they don't deserve to be banned. It was only a short while ago where AA could do no wrong, and if anyone disagreed with a move, they were an 'idiot'. Now, a good chunk of the board is not happy with some of the things AA has done. Sometimes you need to open your mind a little more, and listen to an opposing opinion. Third, we don't need "Ban him already" posts in every thread. If there is something wrong with the post, report it. If it turns into a problem, we'll take care of it. You ought to be banned according to these rules.. not only do you call for bans, but also to reverse bans !

    Of all the teams in the MLB that are 20 or more games behind division leaders, the jays have the best record. I know this isn't much consolation, but it's something us beleaguered jays fans can hang our hats on, a springboard of hope propelling us into the 2014 season. CHEERS !!

    Sure, cito gives snider playing time and somehow he's giving snider problems. Hurdle doesn't have a problem with snider, he just keeps him on the bench which is where he is best suited to help the team.

    It's been said that a good manager can win with a good team but a bad manager can turn a good team into a mediocre one. In 2009,a few players were whining that cito wasn't communicating with them, not holding their hand and spoon feeding them. Wow, whatever happened to being real men ? Probably it was a small minority that were disgruntled, but being the good union men they were they stuck together. Imagine a team of players that cried each time they were not penciled in, or when they got relieved by another pitcher? How successful would that team be? 2009 is when the me me culture was spawned in the blue jays club house, and it still lingers on.

    2008 under gibbons 35-39 in 74 games = roughly 76-86 in 162 games 2008 under gaston 51-37 in 88 games, which is approx 96-66 in 162 games Seems that year, the manager did make a difference , but this is expected of a manager who won TWO world series, so no surprise here. Now I did this from off the top of my head, no calculator, protractor or abacus used.
