So option C except I start with McGowan in the rotation till He is either injured ,or maxed out in innnings then go with the next best Kid which should be Stroman . Let's see what we have at the trade deadline then some good trades like Rasmus for ?? and maybe Buehrle after eating some money could put us in a position to go either way with this team in the 2014 off season, Gut or All in.

From everything I have heard on MLB radio the scouts think Tanaka is the best available starter . Better than Garza but not as good as Darvish . That said I give it about a 1% chance the Jays sign him . Might even be less than that . Several reasons . but the main being why would he pitch here when he will have similar $$$ offered by several other teams he would rather win with . I think the Mariners will be all over this even with JZ stating they are close to budget . Yankees want him bad and the Cubs so why pitch in toronto . Also I think with the NHL deal Rogers is less focused on the Jays . They have their content . They went into panic mode with the strike and now just don't need the content so expect the budget to go down . Then there is the value thing plus AA did not scout him . Every international FA before AA has scouted . imght as well go out and buy a lottery ticket as your odds would be better. As for a trade , If AA trades both Stroman and Sanchez he should be fired .

So even if the jays have hedged the whole amt as you say hedging costs money and at what $$ would it be set at . 95 or 96 cents ?? What would the hedging cost ? It still takes a chunk out of the 150 mil and making it uglier going forward for next years budget .

Vik , We have been beating on AA to sign free Agents but I'm really thinking he has to move some salary and the time to do that was two f***ing months ago . Can't extend Rasmus without money so seemed obvious to me to move him early for pitching even thou I know Gose won't hit but then sign a Guiterrez , christ he signed for 1 mil . The Canadian Dollar is expected to keep falling over 2014 . Some expect it to go to 90 cents and hover around there. A 90 cent dollar would put us around 150 mil without adding anyone . I haven't done the conversion but at 94 cents that should add aprox 8 million to the +or- 135 mil that we are at . If the 150 mil is the max then Obviously AA has to move salary to add any big commitment . All the more reason He should have been trading a Bautista or a Rasmus plus a higher priced reliever .

I don't know where you got your info but one of the new york papers posted yesterday that the yankees were at 180-181 without Arod being suspended . So they still have 8 to 9 mil to spend and another ?? depending on what happens to Arod . I expect Kershaw to either reup with LA or go to Texas . He never bought a home in LA and goes back to Dallas every chance he gets but Schertzer will be a target and so will Lester and Tanaka . They want 2 .

We have more question marks this year but surely the injury God can't get us that bad this year . yes I expect to win more games but I sure as hell can't justify spending 40 mil to entice Infante to play here to add 1 war and win 82 or 83 games . AA may still get something done and as long as it isn't an overpay then I'm good either way .

I have said all off season that you give it till Trade deadline and see where you are but don't gut the minors trying to get there and still think that way . Compounding the wrongs of last year by overpaying in money and years to sign a 1 or 2 war player is senseless when you have so many question marks . If Morrow is hurt again all year , Melky is done and Navrrao reverts back to the fat lazy bastard he was in Tampa then Samardzija and Infante would still put us as a 4th place team at best 80 wins and we would have another bad contract at 2nd ,a 1 year starter and NO farm . Never really expected Floyd to sign here even with an overpay . When your trying to rebuild value like Johnson and floyd even for a couple of mil more you still go to the NL and to a good team if you can . Why would any pitcher come to TO to try and build value . I don't know how anyone can blame AA on this . Messenger had no other team so AA missing on him was maybe a bad move but Floyd and JJ had no intention on coming here. If we want an FA starter we are going to have to way overpay to a Santana or a Jiminez and even then probably add another year.

I think AA will go the FA Pitcher route on an overpay if he has the money and can convince a guy to come . He only has so much to trade and the cost is steep . Most of us want the FA route but any way you look at it the cost is really ugly
