    I have been saying for a long time that our player development system needs an overhaul . Unfortunately AA loyalty to his staff seems solid in spite of their failure . One only has to look at the much heralded 2007 draft class failure as an example. We draft as good as any . We are however going to really miss Marco Paddy

    So True Guy is a huge ******* but he wants to be the Don Cherry of Baseball . As for JPA , I hated to just give him away and his fate is a product of stupid Arbitration awards . With 3 options and a 1.5 mil salary which would have been more than fair for his s***** season then the jays could have sent him to AAA till he either recouped some value or died a permanent death . Look at what Navarro did in his fat and lazy seasons . JPA like #'s

    I liked Molina because I have always been a defense first catcher . But I look at a catcher as more than pitch framing. With these young pitchers coming up so soon you need a guy to call good games . Defense and speed up the middle power on the corners and Pitching Pitching and more Pitching . That is what us OLD guys used to say . Compare that to winning teams .

    What I'm trying to point out is every time someone invents a new stat a lot of guys jump on that bandwagon and love guys they hated and hate guys they loved . WAR is one stat that while not perfected at least trys to cover all the metrics. I love war and don't care what all goes into it .

    Yea , Before that all the Sabermetric guys were screaming for JPA to get playing time and running Molina out of town . They hated Molina and JPA was their Darling . Then War started adding good Defensive metrics and Pitch framing came along and wow 100 % switch. I think that is why they hate JPA so much . I think he could go either way . He can refocus and work hard and succeed or this NON tender could get into his head and it's all downhill

    For 1/5 of the salary , about 500 K I would have brought him to ST hoping he had a good spring and we could deal him and if not then DFA him. . Navarro scares the s*** out of me . What Dioner do we get , the Fat lazy one who played for the Rays and LA or the refocused one that had about 225 AB,s in Chicago . JPA could easily put up a higher war than Dioner . Ruiz was the guy ,If not then Hannigan . Hope we get the refocused Navvaro

    Hopefull the mariners bid the Yanks up and he stays there for 240 mil, At 31 he has what 3 very good years then 2 average years then it is all downhill.

    Yanks probably know Arod is gone for at least 100 games which is what almost everyone expects so that alone gives them 20 mil which is almost Elsbury,s salary . I think they now squeeze Cano down to the 6/160 type # and tell hm now or we will walk away

    Thx John , I needed a chuckle . Took my dog to the vet today and after spending 250 $$$ they told me she had Bone cancer and I have to put her down . FUUUUUCCCCCCK . I love that dog . Had her almost 16 years . Took her home ! Can't face putting her down today not that it is going to get any easier.

    According to Kevin Kennedy who was with the Rays and the Dodgers when he played there Navarro got fat and lazy . Kennedy did not like him at all . Said he seemed to turn it around in Chicago this year but with a 2 year deal he could easily think he has it made and get Fat and Lazy again . Rays dumped him for a reason We need to grab a Suzuki type to ensure he has some competition . Can't believe AA couldn't have bettered the offer for Fister and now Hannigan goes cheap . Navarro ??? Wow what a way to start a dismal off season . OH well it can only get better

    I keep saying that we have too many strikes against us signing decent Free Agents period . Position players hate Turf and Pitchers hate the AL East and the park . Add to that both hate the fact they are playing in another country. We have to overpay and attract the lesser guys . Kazmir wanted to go to a place where he will do well and get another contract . I love the signing and it may be the best value this year but he wasn't coming to the Jays for that contract . I expect him to have two very good years . 93 Mph fastball , Slider at 84 and a great changeup at 81 , cut his walks . Very good signing.

    I tried to buy into the gutting of the minors because there was SFA i could do about it ""Eating the Cake thread " but lets face the facts . WE have a lame duck GM desperate to at least get to the playoffs who has doubled the budget and gutted the minors and has nothing left to do but " Hope and Pray " I question whether adding Hanigan and Samadzija gets us there . I do however know the cost will be brutal . The one bright spot is that Middle relievers and setup guys are really getting pricey . If Cincy is determined to move Chapman to the Rotation then they need a closer

    My Mistake , Crashed and burned on every trade he made last year once he got the money . We were discussing whether the Rays would crash with money like the Jays did .

    I was one of many who thought that about the Toronto front Office . While I still believe AA was pushed into a move It is obvious He crashed and burned on every trade and now is probably desperate. Desperate GM,s don't usually make smart moves .     Agreed , I like the signing for the Twins , Flyball pitcher that now goes to a huge ballpark . Surprised he didn't go to an NL pitchers park in the NL west but the AL central was the next best place for him.

    I expect Dickey to have a better year this year .I expect the improvement in the defense will be huge and having his velocity all season will also make a huge difference .

    Stache , NJH , Chris , Not sure if any site does this but it would be interesting to see what an all Free agent WS team would cost . I had estimated a starting rotation would be about 85 million .
