  1. Hell Baker is the perfect fit but we all know it will NEVER happen ! It is either Sierra or an 8 man BP and I'm not sure what is worse . It is looking more and more like AA isn't going to get a pitcher and if that is the case we may need an 8 man BP
  2. Yep 50 lashes to anyone who didn't get a good chuckle over that one .
  3. You can respect the Yankees and still HATE them . They one huge flaw they have in the last many years is the inability to develop talent . They won many of those WS,s with talent they developed .
  4. The sooner we get rid of that son of a bitch and get someone who actually knows baseball the sooner this team can move ahead . IF we fire AA it isn't like we are going to get a Mozeliak or a Friedman or even Jeff Luhnow . I trust AA to build the farm just fix the development system .
  5. I was really hoping his wife had more say and demanded he take the dodgers deal . not much call for a japanese speaking Briteny in New York .
  6. Beeston and Rogers control the money and the direction . In Hindsight AA trades last year were s*** and I hated the change in direction but he got that from above .He still has to take the blame for the trades that were god awful . Where I fault the fire AA guys is that he did build the farm and while he did a s*** job gutting it I do trust him to rebuild it which is what we will have to do after this years shot . Hell if the jays went full rebuild mode trading their top talent they would have the best farm system plus some good young pieces in the majors .
  7. Well Jay . we knew they were going to go hard at him . the bad news is they signed a bunch of top free agents . The good news is they still have a bad farm system and a ton of money out for replacement level or slightly better old injury prone players . Tanaka has issues too . Look at the way they use their pitchers , 160 pitches is the one playoff game and then comes in the next day for a save . Take it to the bank that there will be at least 1 injury year in that contract . If that turns out to be this year or next then he has a good year and opts out I will laugh hard .
  8. I get beat up all the time when I say blame Beeston and Rogers and not AA but no matter who you put in as GM they will want his head in a short time . They think they can do a better job . even thou they don't know the true facts . We have no idea how many Free Agents have spurned us in the last couple of years . Very few liked the gutting of the farm last year including me but I'm one who believe AA would not have done it without a push because It was too soon .
  9. LOL , That is about as productive a post as you ever type .
  10. Yea , If you have Yankee/Dodger budgets but we don't and I doubt he signs with the Jays unless it is stupidly higher than anyone else . Darvish was the guy . Win the bid and he had to sign with us or go back to japan .
  11. So much for the Yankees getting under the 189 Luxury tax ceiling . And if they aren't under they will now blow it up . Expect them to sign Balfour to close . I would not even be surprised if they sign Drew . Not like we didn't expect this . We play in a division with spendaholics . Don't know how AA can be blamed for that . So much for that perfect storm senario that Beeston and Rogers sold AA on . LOL at the 3 year window . Now a trade of prospects would be absolutely crazy . Team has to go back to what AA and the Beest promised and build thru the farm Last years deals set us back 3 to 5 years but sqaundering assets now would only make it worse . Just have to play it out till July , hope the injury god targets the other AL East teams and if not start the rebuild .
  12. Jiminez at 14 mil I can handle . I just hate the 4 years but that is what it will take Maholm , Meh I rather go with what we have just stagger the innings so we have people to pitch in Sept. Oh I think AA will have tons of guys talking trade to him once all the injuries start piling up in ST . the one thing we have is depth in the bull pen/ long relief/5 th starter and when arms start falling off in St like they do every year AA has tradeable assets
  13. I agree Vik If we have another 200 inning guy . I just don't think we will get that guy and unlike others I DON'T blame AA . He is doing what he can with the money he has . In a perfect world we could have got a Tanaka and let Buehrle be the #4 guy and go 6 innings and he would pile up the wins . Personally Morrow is the Key and I have said this all off season . If he steps up and stays healthy and gives us 180 innings then we can afford to have Happ in the 5th spot . I still put Dusty in the 4th spot and go with him till he starts to tire then move him to the BP and put the next best guy Hutch, Rogers ,Stroman , whoever into that spot . Gibby did a great job with the pen last year in spite of all the injuries but with decent starts BP pieces fail into place . As for an Innings limit on Dusty , I just watch for him tiring then do the switch . hell much as I have been down on this team because it has so many holes it isn't like we can't surprise . Morrow and McGowan who have the stuff step up and stay healthy the early rotation can be fine . It is when they start tiring who do we have with all the others on inning limits . We are going to need a guy in Sept.
  14. Hey , I have nothing against him but the cost . If you like paying 19 mil for a #3/4 starter then it is OK . With a budget of 150 mil I hate it like I hate Happ at 6+ mil. difference is we can replace Happ at 500 K . We can't replace Buehrle Again Don't like his salary but don't think I thought Romero would be better . he is what he is . 4.2 to 4.5 era Ditto FIP 3rd or 4th starter on a decent team . Look at his track record and not much changes except his Cost which is 5 to 6 mil too much. I just look at him as a 6 inning guy now . Don't overuse him and the team would be further ahead IMO . Would he pitch better if used less , I think so . That is what I'm saying Vik.
  15. I look at him as a 6 inning guy now that he is older . Get him thru 6 having given up 3 runs and hope a strong BP can hold it there and win . Now someone who knows where to look can post #'s of his ERA after the 6th inning in the AL East with a strong BP if he gets you thru 6 with a chance to win be happy .
  16. Unless they somehow get a 200 inning guy I'm thinking we are going to see a lot of 8 man Bullpens thru the year . They only have one 200 inning guy in Dickey . Buehrle is now only a 170 to 180 inning guy . Happless is at best a 170 inning guy . Morrow WTFKs maybe with luck and health 180 .McGowan who I think right now is the #5 guy will be on a tight pitch limit and innings limit and the young guys Hutch and Stroman will certainly be innings limited . With all that who the f*** pitches in september ???
  17. Anyone think they will turn guys like Morrow , McGowan , Hutch loose or will there be tight innings limits . Almost like they are going to have to severely limit innings early in the season on some guys to take over for other guys when they reach their limit unless they turn guys loose .
  18. I'm exactly the opposite . I don't rate high till I have seen a year of full season ball .This quote from sickels could have come from me . Fits to a tee how I view the Jays farm << 2014 will be very, very interesting for this organization, as this wave of live arms and tools faces sterner tests in full-season ball. Which players develop the skills to make the tools work? A year from now, you could be looking at a system filled with Grade B or better prospects, or you could be looking at a bunch of disappointments. It will probably be somewhere in between of course. >>>>>>>
  19. She wants a west coast city to continue her career and I believe Seattle might be a dark horse in this . Meh , marriage probably won't be long anyway . Once all those Japanese Groupies start circling every time he is on the road He would have to be a better man than most to say no . Whenever I was in Seattle to watch Ichiro they were all over the stadium and some would have been damn hard to resist
  20. Old News ,Happen a while back . IT was bad news for my Dynasty team as I had starter depth I wanted to trade but had to stop the trade talks. Rumor has it they just want to add depth and are Talking to Jerome williams
  21. I think the biggest question right now is ??? Has Arod played his last game ? Now that it is down to 61 million do the Yankees just pay him out . And does he want this ? Much as I and a lot of people want this to just go away I think it will be around for a long time .
  22. That about covers it John . That also is a reflection of how dead any jays news is but when you have no money what the f*** can you do .All AA can do is wait and hope some Bull pens get decimated by injury in spring training .
  23. What he did was get cheap . Hell Greg Anderson went to jail for Bonds . You can bet bonds did not cheap out and threaten Anderson . What I did learn from the interview is anyone with good medical advise can beat the system and I now believe a ton are still doing it . I now believe no sport is clean , hell the Chinese i doubt will have 1 clean athlete in the Olympics . They will have a program set up that would make Balco look mickey mouse. Now If I'm a AAAA player I'm looking for a Bosch type guy
  24. Yes , IF and this is a big IF we are to get to the playoffs it will be because Morrow finally lived up to his stuff and gave us 32 starts and Dickey had his velocity all year and adjusted to the AL small ballparks . Certainly this team has talent but health has derailed the jays so damn much the last few years that I find it hard to believe we can have a reasonable season injury wise . I have stated all off season that no matter who we add to the roster Morrow and Dickey need to perform or we are going nowhere . I want to hope that the injury God finally gives us a break but I just look at the last few years and find it hard to have any faith the team can stay healthy enough to perform at their talent level.
