  1. Young or Guiterrez . Not sure who comes cheaper but fills the 4th OF position plus insurance foe Melky .
  2. Pretty good AAA depth behind the injury prone Reyes.
  3. Unfortunately that RHB is going to be Derosa. If Melky is unable to come back from injury then they may DFA Derosa and have meekly as the RHB on the bench. Either way Lind to me is the best value out there at 7mil .
  4. We'll Jay. Your track record is way better than mine so I really can't argue but I,m sticking to the 150 number that most rumours have been reporting. Power is such a thin commodity these days that AA maybe just floated some names out just to see what the offers would be.
  5. Ervin is going to get hugely overpaid I would not be happy with the type of contract he is going to get .
  6. I think a lot on this board overestimate how much AA will have at his disposal . The main rumor has been 150 mil. Every trade he makes impacts this . Mike Ferrin on MLB on XM keeps saying that Bautista is on the market . He states that while The Jays are saying this isn't the case the word is out amongst teams and has leaked . That tells me that AA needs to shed salary to add pieces . You don't trade your power bat when power is lacking everywhere in Baseball otherwise .
  7. Many different routes which all depend on how much money AA has to spend .
  8. Ruiz Relievers ( more than 1 +B prospect ) for Porcello Sierra + Reliever + for Ackley Pray for health We are not going to outbid the yankees and Dodgers for Tanaka
  9. Even gutting the upper minors won't get us everything so I agree . I just hope AA has enough of a budget that he can get a catcher on the FA market . Hell the BP depth should get us one hole filled and I want defense at 2nd so I'd rather Goins than a trade of our top pitching prospects
  10. I view Morrow as the only one who has the ability to pitch as an Ace . If Dickey has his velocity and has learned how to lower his HR rate at home then he can be a good #2 but there is no #1 out there available so it is either Morrow or Dickey . Yes I think hutch will be there but he isn't a top of rotation guy .
  11. I really don't care what Morrow says . I just want him healthy and pitching well and consistent . McGowan and Morrow . Both Diabetics ! It is a lot harder to recover from injuries with that disease . I have called him Rich Hardin revisited but he can turn it around and become an ace . If the jays are to contend this year Morrow has to step up and be their ace .
  12. Yankees have a lot of holes to fill but getting Aroid,s 25 mil (Assuming he is gone for the whole year ) should fill two holes . Much as we hate the situation the Jays are in the Yankees are really in the deep s*** with nothing much on the farm ( IMO ).I expect them to sign Tanaka at all costs . Speculation now is a posting fee near 75 mil but who knows how the new rules might change that
  13. I think you have to give it till the Trade deadline and see if a healthy team can make a run . Health killed this team last year and while some make us out to be 75 win talent we are actually better than that . BUT If this team self destructs health wise again then you sell . With the right moves you could be right back in it in 3 years .
  14. I listened to the program waiting to hear what JPA had to say . The one thing Duquette kept saying was he would have a hard time trading Bautista unless he got a great package . I was pissed when JPA was a no show . Duquette felt bautista might be able to talk Santana into signing there . Is Bautista the guy you trade with his value down due to the injuries or do you sell high on Rasmus .
  15. I,m very sure AA will not give up on JPA. He will be the Buffalo catcher/first baseman/DH trying to fix his bat. I,m actually fine with that. I just want a defensive catcher that can contribute nd Ruiz has always been my choice
  16. Hell I loved it . In a dismal off season a good laugh is worth tons. Let's hope we have a few more idiotic posts like this thru winter . Otherwise it could be a long winter
  17. As I posted , A QO to JJ would have brought us up to 148 Mil . I found it hard to believe they would do this . IN Fact I would have been very surprised if we overpaid JJ to the tune of 6 mil or so . Did not make any fiscal sense especially if you only have 150 mil or less and have to fil 4 or 5 holes .
  18. I don,t see this happening. The QO would bring us very close to the 150 mil we hear as budget. If AA offers a Q O then that would tell me he has more money
  19. WE have 19 possible f***ing relievers on the 40 man or in the system . We need to trade some or lose them to waivers as too many are out of options . I want a catcher and starter . There should be zero money spent on the Bull pen .
  20. Dodgers have Billingsley coming back so I suspect they pass on Price .. Tanaka just costs money and they print all they need
  21. There is no doubt that the #1 thing you need when building a playoff team is Talent !!! While War is hugely flawed it is the best statistical # we have to judge talent But we all know Talent isn't all you need . Just look at the teams who have won in the past few years . Christ the Giants won twice ?? Health is probably the #2 thing you need . Something many posters ignore . This team was far from a 75 win team if healthy . How many wins does a healthy Morrow , Melky ,JJ and Reyes add . Some make it sound like Talent wise (WAR ) this was a 75 win team . WRONG . Chemistry is probably #3 . Just look at the Red Sox . Terrible chemistry = 69 wins . Great chemistry =Playoff bound team .
  22. We all knew this was going to happen so I see no sense in crying over it . My only hope is they somehow work a deal with Kawasaki on a minor league contract so we keep him in the system. As for Izturis , He'll either be on the bench or the starting 2nd baseman . It is all about budget and the many holes that need to be filled
  23. +1 Jay . Sure i think Boston got very lucky while the Cards did it thru the youth and draft . Farrel obviously worked out great for themtaking a team that refused to play for the previous manager rife with disenchantment and got them to play as a team but Cherrington added the Vets that helped that to work . I give them both Kudo,s
  24. Actually it is Cherrington who is laughing last . He was beat up hard on this board for his overpriced contracts signing veterans who were good in the clubhouse and those vets came thru . Ortiz says it was John Farrel who took this team from last to first
  25. Well this game was short . That should be it . Wacha just didn't have it tonite I think this is over.
