  1. We need to consider that Trout was already under contract for the next two years for 33.2MM, which is 73.6MM in surplus value. The extension really only gives them rights to 2021+, and in this model since the whole deal is 58MM in surplus value they actually lost value over just keeping Trout for 2 years then letting him leave
  2. No one suggested that anyone should eat a dog. Maybe your f***ed up logic leads there, but not anyone who posted here.
  3. interesting quote from Shapiro on Vladdy's injury:
  4. TIL Sweetbreads are not sweet. They're not bread. They're offal. More specifically, sweetbreads are the organ meat from the thymus gland and pancreas. They are most commonly from veal or lamb, but beef and pork sweetbreads can also be found
  5. Did he look like Joe Carter after game 6 again?
  6. I really just want Stroman to throw the 4 seamer more. It's such a good pitch these days with everyone trying to hit the ball in the air.
  7. I am definitely reading between the lines a bit, and it's not an explicit quote, but here's what he said: https://www.tsn.ca/pillar-believes-jays-have-enough-veteran-leadership-1.1260108 Definitely seems to me like in his opinion the last group of leaders were treating people badly in some way
  8. His previous comments on the matter seemed to show that he had a better handle on why the decision was made: "I think they were kind of heading in a different direction than I wanted to go," Tulowitzki said. "They were going to go young and commit to their young players. They have some good ones over there. But for me, it was about wanting to win a world championship and play with veteran players." Now he's totally singing a different tune. Should've just benched him and let him retire... I can definitely see what Pillar was saying about "some of the older guys" having attitude issues
  9. Yeah our outfield is terrible we are going to need some external help there unless someone busts out in a big way
  10. It probably means a lot for him to show that he's still got it after not playing at all for a year and a half. He likely would have reacted exactly the same way if he was still with the Jays
  11. Teo picking up right where he left off last year. Fun inning!
  12. Paxton on the hill for the Yanks Should be an interesting first inning at least lol
  13. Not on here they werent. Everyone here was pissed before we even found out Noah was the other player in the deal
  14. They don't want people to create an account just to post their content. It's basically free advertisement. If you start posting there regularly and people recognize your name because you regularly generate positive discussion then they will let your post stay up. See Rule 7 of the Jays subreddit:
  15. Looks like about 4 seconds to me as well. Is the video a little sped up maybe? Or maybe they just edited out a second of running between the first scene where he hits the ball and the second where the camera switches to him running down the line? Or maybe vladdy is just a burner.
  16. I loved this list. How relevant videos were posted throughout. Blurbs written only for interesting players. Percentile outcomes are obviously way better than future value ratings. Well done guys!!! I will listen to the podcast later today
  17. Spanky is the liquor
  18. Axford doesnt fit the MO of what shatkins is doing with the pen - lots of high upside arms with question marks. Axford is more of a low upside dude but he still has question marks cuz hes 36. I'd rather take a flyer on someone else for sure
  19. This is like goins and barney all over again. If he gets 500PA just kill me now
  20. This is a good point. I think everyone just wants to see what hes capable of before moving him to first. I know I expected him to get moved at least before he hit AA because that's where s*** kinda gets real. But he managed to stick at the position and apparently has made huge strides there. Not to mention it's where he says he wants to play. I'd give him the year at third to see what hes got. If hes a total tire fire then move him to first asap. But if he is already pretty good and if there is still noticeable improvement in his game as the season goes on might as well just let him ride it out in what is currently being billed as a building year. Of course all of this changes if the Jays are starting to compete and make noise. Then we just want the best team we can make and all bets are off. At that point its sink or swim for vlad at third
  21. this is a good post. the 5 tools are so outdated and have so much overlap... Hitting and hitting for power are obviously utilizing many of the same hand-eye and acceleration skills. Speed and arm are obviously big parts of defense. As it stands now we have to break down the 5 tools to try to get an idea what it is telling you about a player's baserunning, hitting, and defense. Might as well just make those the new 3 tools
  22. really though he must be asking for tons of extra McChicken sauce and slathering it all over his McDouble
  23. looks like he could stand to lose more like 50 pounds. This guy looks remarkably unhealthy look at that gut omg
  24. Felipe Lopez was a top prospect in 2000? I remember when I started watching the Jays in 2001 he was on the team and was hot garbage. Cant believe he was actually supposed to be good edit: wow, he went on to an allstar appearance in 2005 with the reds, after we traded him for some guy named Jason Arnold after a 2002 season that was even worse than his 2001. But he was only 20 when he came up, and was an 8th overall pick so looks like they probably rushed him. The jays were so poorly run under Ash
