According to Ken Rosenthal, all that is holding up a potential deal is RP Daniel Webb or 2B Nick Franklin. The THB asked for Aaron Sanchez originally as the main piece, though nothing was confirmed officially by the team. Also, the fact that the deal got leaked into the media when the trade was not finalized did not sit in favour with SS.
"We like to do things in secret since stories like these can get out there in the media and then prevent a deal from happening," said SS, the general manager of THB. "I think we were close in getting something done, though it got leaked on the boards and on Twitter before things were ever finalized."
The THB have suffered numerous injuries to key players over the last week which has led to a fall in the standings, prompting the team to retool for 2015. Players such as Howie Kendrick, Kyle Lohse, Mike Napoli, Carlos Beltran, Mark Teixeira and others are likely candidates to be moved prior to the trade deadline. The team has garnered numerous interest in star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, though according to sources a team has to "overpay" in order to land the star shortstop. "They likely keep Tulo. I don't see them moving him since they view him as part of their main core with Freddie Freeman, Nolan Arenado and Will Myers," according to one baseball executive.
