  1. Yeah I think 3 years worth $36 million is the benchmark. Likely could get more though...
  2. Maybe check out Wonderland on the weekend - it's usually not that busy in the fall months and they have great coasters. If you want to drive out to Hamilton, check if the Ti-Cats are in town. They just built a new stadium which is beautiful. Also, you could drive to Buffalo on the Sunday if the Bills are playing at home. Also, Woodbine is fun on the weekends, either Saturday or Sunday. I know the Ricoh Mile next Sunday which is a big stake race.
  3. You have Kershaw, Zimmerman, Verlander, Weaver and Gallardo making 2 starts next week. I don't want to face you.
  4. It's pretty cool how Iwakuma and Hughes are doing it in the same season.
  5. Why? Hughes is only 28 years old.
  6. I wanted to pickup Carrasco in the FC league, ugh oh well missed that boat!

Bills have some offensive weapons, agree with Kev. They likely will finish around .500 though. Don't see them being a threat. Lets go Panthers!
  8. MLSE fired a bunch of TFC coaching staff for their awful play in the summer and falling out of contention. I'm wondering if Rogers will do the same with the Blue Jays eventually?
  9. Yeah its definitely worth it. Streaming games is easy either on the XBOX or PS4 and you can also stream games on the computer, tablet, phone. All games are archived so you can go back and watch games you missed. It's only $129/year for the Premium subscription - a lot better than some others like the NFL which is $275. I'd recommend it over getting the sports pack, since when baseball is on, usually the NBA and NHL are entering the playoffs so those games are all televised on cable so you'd be paying the $33 per month just for baseball. MLBTV makes more sense.

I might get that instead then. It works out to be a lot better price than NFL Gamepass. I had it for MLB before, though I never used it much for the other stuff. I figure its best to get it during NFL, NBA and NHL season then since their are more games on. I want to follow the Panthers this year and I'll watch some other games as well, though paying that price for NFL Gamepass is absurd.

I saw it as well. That's absurd. I thought it was going to be something like MLBTV around $120-$130, though when I saw it was $275 for a year I said forget it. Or payments of $70 something for 4 months.
  12. Valencia as a starting third baseman would be a mistake. If AA is serious about that, then they are mismanaging their roster. Valencia is a great bat to platoon with Lind since he could also play 3B, 1B and LF in emergency, so he'd be valuable on the bench as well when Lind is in the starting lineup. If they want to go cheap, I'm sure someone like Denorfia won't break the bank, same Aoki and Smith. As for help either at 2B or 3B, I could see Headley being a bit pricey, though I'm sure Cabrera, Drew, or Lowrie could be acquired at a decent price.
  13. I would do everything in my power to try and acquire Ben Zobrist to play second base. If not, then Jed Lowrie, Asdrubal Cabrera, Stephen Drew and Chase Headley are free agents.
  14. Would you be platooning Gose? I think platooning in left won't be an issue. You either sign Denorfia or Aoki and then platoon with them someone like a Markakis or Smith, and you'd be fine. Lind and Valencia as your DH platoon, plus at least Valencia could play other positions like 3B and 1B as well. Then you have Pillar and Pompey down in the minors as insurance. Not the worst situation and it's much cheaper than resigning Melky.
  15. Couldn't have said it better. Get the draft pick, sign a Denorfia, or Aoki and try to sign a Markakis or trade for a Seth Smith and the Jays will be fine with letting Melky walk.
  16. I could see Gose in CF, though they'd have to go out and try to replace Melky if that's the case. They could easily find 2-3 wins in LF rather than signing Melky to a big contract.
  17. Yeah I know about the Smith extension, though do you think San Diego would consider trading him? He's going to be 33, a platoon bad and really doesn't fit into their long term plans. I like Aoki as well. It goes to show you that its not necessary to sign Melky as some people are making it out to be. You can easily replace him with the above suggestions/names we've thrown out at a fraction of the cost.
  18. That's definitely a good article/clip that I should show my classroom someday. Thanks!
  19. Chris Denorfia is a FA this offseason and he'd be a decent guy to bring aboard for some OF depth. Utilize him in the right situations, he could provide great value. Nick Markakis could also be a FA, and would be an intriguing guy that I'd love to bring aboard. I doubt the Orioles pick up his option. There's also the trade market as one poster alluded to before. Even bringing in someone like Seth Smith to platoon with someone wouldn't be all that bad. SS Reyes LF Smith/Denorfia RF Bautista 1B Encarncion DH Lind 3B Lawrie 2B ???? C Navarro CF Gose BN Valencia (platoons with Lind) BN Izturis/Kawasaki BN Thole Trade for Ben Zobrist to play second base and occasionally other positions when needed (likely Rays pick up his option). I'd rather do a platoon of Smith/Denorfia or bring in Markakis as a FA along with Denorfia than sign Melky to a 4-5 year deal.
  20. A Frank Catalanotto/Reed Johnson platoon worked very well in 2005 and 2006 and costed the Jays hardly anything. Cabrera will likely cost + 12M AAV over 4-5 years. He's not a special, elite type player. You can easily replace his production and value much cheaper, though we need a smart front office that could realize that.
  21. It's funny how everyone wanted Melky gone after his 2013 season and now everyone wants him back after the season he had in 2014. I likely wouldn't go 4-5 years on Melky, since he's going to be on the wrong side of 30 and I'm not sure he'd hold up in the outfield in the latter part of the deal.

    Does anyone have NFL Gamepass?
  23. lol the Jays won't pay for a top end starter.
  24. I'm sure a good 25-40% will be Cubs fans who made the trip up from Chicago or Cubs fans that live in the city. I'm sure the regular casual won't be going out of his/her way to see a bad Cubs teams during the week. I want to go both on the Tuesday and Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing guys like Rizzo, Baez and Soler. I've got some Cubs gear which I'll wear down!
  25. Beckett is contemplating retirement.
