  1. What happens if one of them gets hurt? We've seen it before. You just can't say we're going to outscore every opponent - because hitting goes into dry spells, even the best of lineups. I don't know what AA will do about second base - he can surprise us all who knows! Find a solid veteran like a Mark Ellis maybe to play the first half and then callup Travis later after showing success down in Buffalo? Or trade for someone like Justin Turner from the Dodgers, Daniel Murphy from the Mets, or Howie Kendrick from the Angels? As for Sanchez, I'd rather trade him in a package for a studly piece rather than use him out of the pen in 2015.
  2. Yeah but I'm sure AA had to shed some salary in order to go after Martin and Donaldson, and Lind's 7.5 M salary was obvious since you can likely find a lefty/DH bat who crushes RHP for a cheaper cost. Still, this lineup is hugely right handed dominate, and a left-handed bat in the middle or top of the order would be nice.
  3. Like the Hurl said, it wouldn't shock me to see Nolin go out there and put up similar statistics to Tommy Milone. The A's seem to squeeze out the most from average to below average pitchers.
  4. You can't hurt having another starter - you never know with young starters like Stroman and Hutch, and it's not like Dickey or MB are top-of-the-rotation arms. Adding someone like Hamels, who is a No. 1 starter and has shown no signs of decline would be huge. If it doesn't happen, I think the Jays rotation will be fine though if they are going all in for 2015/2016, then a Cole Hamels is much more valuable than a Aaron Sanchez + other prospects.
  5. What do you think it would require to land Cole Hamels? Obviously a package starting with Aaron Sanchez+++ Also, the Phillies have always loved JA Happ, so I'm sure they'd have interest. Hamels Dickey MB Stroman Hutchison Depth: Estrada, Redmond, Hendricks, Drabek, Norris (if not traded) That's a sick rotation 1 through 5.
  6. I think he meant one of the best. And it's true, JD has been one of the best players in baseball over these past two seasons.
  7. Yeah I think if what players posted on Twiitter played a huge role in them being traded, we would have seen so many names moved already. Heck, even what Bautista said after the trade deadline last season. What a player says on Twitter has nothing to do with them being traded. Unless its something really really bad.
  8. AA trades for Hamels. Book it!
  9. Thanks, found it on Page 21 in this thread.
  10. Does anyone have Keith Law's writeup on the trade?
  11. Wow, this is awesome. This calls for a celebration tonight!
  12. Joffrey Lupul is coming back tomorrow. He's OTB for any team looking for a solid winger.
  13. If this was after 2013, posters on here would be wanting to trade Sanchez +++ without any hesitation for Bruce. Funny how one year changes things, and most don't even want to touch him. The guy was a legitimate power bat from 2011-2013 with 3 straight 30 + HR seasons, and he's only 27.
  14. Yeah I was only in elementary school when guys like Johnson, Schilling, Pedro, Clemens were at the top of their game. I remember watching them pitch and in video games like Triple Play Baseball lol - I was too young to appreciate their greatness however. Like I knew they were some of the top starters in baseball at the time, though from looking at the advanced stats today, they were all just on another level!
  15. It would have been awesome to play fantasy baseball back in those days Imagine having a stacked rotation of Clemens, Johnson and Schilling! Yikes!
  16. 277 in 2013. Price had 271 this season.
  17. Just came to mind, after reading about the new names on the HOF ballot. Randy Johnson in the day was sick. Do you think we'll ever see a 300 K strikeout season again? If so, who'd be your choice to reach that milestone in a single season? Edit: Last pitchers to have a 300 K season were Johnson and Schilling both in 2002. Over 12 years.
  18. I don't think the Jays are ever going to have bats like EE and Bautista locked up together at such a great value. This is the time to contend, before they start to decline and become FA's. Doubt the Jays luck into two bats like that again.
  19. As a platoon bat who can hit against RHP as a DH and spell time at 1B and C - I'm in favour.

    NBA Thread

Did you get my text message the other day?
  21. I'd be all over that.
  22. NAME DROP ALERT!!!! jks. I've always been a fan of Fowler - he would be an interesting target from Houston. Love his .OBP skills.
  23. Bernier is finally performing well. Ugh, thought I made a huge mistake taking him as my No. 1 goalie haha
