  1. Its official Just announced on Baseball Central by Jeff Blair!
  2. Norris and Reyes jerseys will be 50% off this weekend at the Jays store!
  3. Lets wait until Ken Rosenthal says its done.
  4. Would have preferred giving this type of package last trade deadline for 1.5 years of Price vs. 2 months. Why didn't the Jays then trade for Price when they were 60-51 at the deadline and were only a game back? Imagine having Price for this entire beginning portion of the season, where would this team be now?
  5. Kevin Barker is a huge redneck, holy s***!
  6. Yeah if you're giving up that type of package, I'd hope Cespedes is involved.
  7. Well if Rogers is willing to dish out the cash, then yes. Though with the Jays 5 year policy, I don't see it happening unless the contract has a huge AAV.
  8. If this was during the 2012 season, I'd say that would have been a good excuse for AA to use.

  10. Ew for a two month rental. Unless they have a window to sign Price to an extension, though doubt that.
  11. If David Price goes all 2008 CC Sabathia in August and September leading the Jays into the postseason...
  12. I think from what we know about AA when making trades, he likes to acquire players/pitchers with control. I still think they would take Kennedy, Leake, Iwakuma or Shark at the right price, though I'm sure he's probably a lot more focused on acquiring guys like Ross, Shields, Fiers etc right. I'd f***ing splurge for Felix Hernandez right now or in the offseason. Seattle has been a disappointment over the last several years and if they make changes in their front office, I'm sure we'll see changes to the roster. King Felix is owed a whole lot of money, though he's under control through 2019 with a weird club option for 2020 for only 1M if he spends time more than 130 days on the DL "with right elbow surgery or other procedure to repair right elbow injury." 2016: 25.8 M 2017: 26.8 M 2018: 26.8 M 2019: 27.8 M Signing a FA pitcher like Hernandez or lets say Price this upcoming offseason likely would demand a Scherzer type contract, which we all admit is crazy and foolish. Felix locked at 4 years at that high AAV isn't all that bad, since you'd still own him before any significant decline. The Jays will have money coming off the books in 2016 with MB and if they don't exercise the RA Dickey option (likely will pick it up now with the way he has been pitching). Also, why not work a deal around EE + prospects for King Felix? EE likely won't be around past 2016 in Toronto and the Jays already have the best lineup in baseball. The Mariners might be interested in that since EE gives them another power bat and improves their lineup greatly for 2016, plus they will get a compensation pick if he leaves as a FA. Something like the Tulo deal perhaps, where the Mariners get some other top prospects in the deal as well. Plus, Seattle rids themselves of King Felix's contract and open up a huge amount of payroll for future FA signings etc. And it won't be difficult signing pitchers to pitch half their games at Safeco. A 2016 rotation: Felix Stroman Hutchison Dickey FA signing or Norris (if they don't trade him)
  13. I don't know. What do the projections say?
  14. What does BTS think?
  15. lol Actually I was on my deck yesterday evening around 7:30-8 PM and it cooled down considerably outside.
  16. If I recall, there were some prominent posters on here who supported the Dickey deal and thought that he was going to be a great No. 1 -2 pitcher here based on projections.
  17. I never had a problem with Reyes as the Jays shortstop. At the time of his acquisition, he was probably the best shortstop the Jays had this past decade in terms of offensive potential and talent wise. Outside of Scutaro's masterful 2009 performance (4.2 WAR) and the good year Yunel Escobar had before he crashed, it finally looked like the Jays solved the position over the next 4-5 years with Reyes as their shortstop and leadoff hitter. I've always been a fan of Reyes, as he was one of the most exciting players to watch in his glory days with the Mets. Obviously, the Jays weren't getting that Reyes unfortunately and I think with all the optimism that offseason, many fans were expecting the Mets version of Jose Reyes. Injuries each season with the Jays took their toll, impacting his running game and fielding as well + him getting older impacted his performance - he's basically been the same player as he was with the Marlins in 2012, which I think people with rational expectations signed up for and I'm sure many casuals would have been happy with as well if he played more. However, due to his contract structure, what the Jays traded to land Reyes in that package (remember Josh Johnson did poorly and I'm sure that also left a sour taste in many peoples views on the overall trade as they probably expected Reyes and MB to exceed expectations to make it a worthwhile trade) and the fact that Reyes missed chunks of time on the DL never playing 150 + games in a single season, all had something to do with the fans misconception that Reyes was a disappointment. Plus, all the timely errors he made were heavily magnified by the media which even put a further cloud on his tenure with the Jays. Overall, Tulo is a far better shortstop, no questions asked. The Jays just landed arguably the best shortstop in baseball and we should all be f***ing excited! End of conversation.
  18. Its been really only this season that his K rate is higher than his career norm. Previous seasons he didn't K that much for the type of power hitter he is, which is quite remarkable.
  19. V-Mart got 4/68, so considering Bautista can at least play a position and will age better, I'd say 4/75 or 4/80 is fair. I don't know about 5 years though, since that would take him past 40.
  20. How so? I'm sure he's more shocked than anything since he's been in Colorado for his entire career and this has been the first time he's been traded. Secondly, he probably never expected to be dealt to Toronto out of all places. I'm sure Tulo will fit in well here and love the city. Toronto is one of the nicest cities in North America. Like AA mentioned, JD was the same when he heard he was traded.
  21. I think they realize Tulo is a better SS than Reyes, though they aren't going to go out in the media and be like all excited that they traded one of the great buddies in Reyes for Tulo. Reyes was well liked in that clubhouse and I'm sure there are many players like Bautista and EE that are disappointed to see him go, though its a business. I'm sure from a baseball decision standpoint, they understand that they are a better club today than they were yesterday.
  22. Agreed, I'd rather have Bautista in his late 30's over EE.
  23. Good comparison. I still think Bautista gets a 3-4 year deal after 2016, and then after that contract goes year-to-year like what Boston has done with Ortiz.
  24. Beltran's deal is comparable (3 years, $45 million). I obviously expect Bautista to get more and world be willing to pay more AAV to keep Bautista around for 3 more years.
