  1. What's the best way to watch Premiere League matches? Sportsnet World?
  2. Agreed. Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin are looking to make names for themselves. The Yankees are playing for the future. And the future begins now!
  3. Don't the Blue Jays offer a payment plan if you renew? For example, with the Raptors payments are around $900 per month starting in April for my seats, and then the last two payments are around $450. For postseason tickets, its ridiculous that they charge you for every game & every series up front. Shocked they don't do it on a pay-as-you-go, game-to-game basis like the Raps do. You'll get your money back on games not played, but sucks taking up a huge balance on your credit card.
  4. Never said they should overpay to retain him over the next 3-5 years. Also, I wouldn't be upset if he's let go. The Jays have proven that they can win without Bautista. As for using the term "face of the franchise" it's kind of fuzzy and could be interpreted in different ways. I don't think it always has to be limited to only one player. I could think of a lot of baseball teams that have multiple guys who you could slap that label on (Giants with Bumgarner & Posey; Nationals with Stras & Harper; Red Sox with Pedroia and Ortiz; Cubs with Rizzo & Bryant; Tigers with Miggy & Verlander; Yankees with Jeter, Rivera, Williams etc).
  5. Bautista has been the face of this franchise since 2010 and played a crucial role especially at a time when fan interest with the Jays was near an all-time low with them trading Doc after 2009. Even if he leaves this offseason, he is one of the best players to ever wear a Blue Jays uniform. He's up there with all the greats, and deservingly so.
  6. There are some people out there who get trigger happy and panic when they miss out on getting tickets during the general sale, so good for you. As well, I find people who travel from out of town will buy tickets on StubHub weeks before an event to have that sense of security that they are attending that game/event.
  7. Only way is if Bautista gets back and suddenly mashes down the stretch and in the Postseason. I think the max he gets right now is a 3/$45 million deal based mainly because its a weak market and there might be a desperate team thinking he can return to his elite levels if healthy. Otherwise, he'll need to take a 1 year deal around $15 million, and hope for a rebound. Even still, he'll be 37 after 2017 and it'll be tough to get a 3-4 year deal with a high AAV. To be honest, I could see a team going year-to-year with him like the Red Sox have done with Ortiz the past couple of seasons, which likely makes the most sense.
  8. I think Stroman is a solid No. 2, not a No. 1. People had such high and unrealistic expectations on him after his 4 starts in September and the postseason. He's clicking now at the right time which is all that counts!
  9. It just goes to show you that most of Toronto fans consist of bandwagoners. We're talking about a game in the ALCS, one series away from the World Series. It's disgusting how fans were able to write them off that series. You had Estrada going Game 5 who was money all postseason, and then had Price & Stroman available going Game 6 and 7 if it got that far. They still had a chance despite being down 3-1. The Jays were screwed though for start times in the ALCS. Game 3 was played at 6 or 7PM I believe, though Game 4 was at 1PM the next day, and Game 5 was a 4PM start. I'm sure the start times did play a factor as well.
  10. It wouldn't shock me to see a team looking for 200+ innings give him a $8-10 million contract for one year. He'd be a good fit on some NL teams.
  11. Yeah signing Beltran would make more sense then Bautista, though the chances of him signing with the Jays are close to zero unfortunately. I'd rather have him as an OF/DH over Bautista based on recent production and cost.
  12. Agreed. It's a lot of money to put up front for the entire postseason, as well if you bought additional seats on top of that which I'm sure many season seat or flex pack holders did. It's funny how so many average people these days want to be like a scalper by purchasing up extra seats to major sporting events//concerts and trying to unload them to make a profit. Sometimes you can, though sometimes you can get screwed. I realized from last October and the Raptors playoffs that it's not worth the added stress to purchase extra seats and then trying to sell them afterwards. Dealing with idiots on Kijijji who expect to get everything for 50 cents on the dollar, or playing the waiting game on StubHub or Ticketmaster, and if those options don't work out then even calling around asking your friends or acquaintances if they want tickets for face value. Not worth the added stress in my opinion. I only made money off Game 1 of the ALDS which I sold for twice face value, and Game 3 of the ALCS where I made $50 more on each seat. The other games, I was lucky to get rid of my seats for face value but let me tell you it wasn't worth the aggravation. Same with the Raptors in the playoffs this spring: we bought like 1-2 extra pairs for the first two rounds and didn't make any profit at all. Ended up selling them to friends at face, but again not worth the aggravation in trying to unload 2-4 tickets every game. Additionally with Toronto teams usually getting awful time slots for playoff games (e.g. 1 PM or 4 PM Blue Jays games during the week; 12:30 PM games on a Saturday/Sunday for the Raptors), you can easily get screwed. For the playoffs as a Raptor season ticket holder, they give you the option of paying on a game to game basis which is very convenient rather than paying all up front for every playoff series. Shocked the Blue Jays don't do that.
  13. Maybe only for Game 1 of the ALDS and Game 1 of the ALCS were going for twice face value last postseason. Otherwise, tickets were selling for much less then face value especially in the ALCS which was pretty disgusting, so I'm sure there were a lot of people who lost money. The Rogers Centre holds close to 50K, so remember that. It isn't that difficult to get a ticket, even if you have to pay slightly more on a secondary market like StubHub, Vivid Seats etc.
  14. Anyone get an extra bobblehead yesterday? I have the Delgado/Wells/Bautista one that I'm willing to trade.
  15. Is the trade deadline in this league tonight or actually on the 28th?
  16. To the teams that have sent me offers on some players, I'll be able to continue those discussions late this afternoon when I get back to the city. If any teams see an interesting fit, continue to send me offers. I'll be accessible all night to talk trades.
  17. Looking to move some of my veterans. If interested feel free to send me some offers via Yahoo. Hosmer Gonzalez Castro Walker Trumbo Iwakuma Colon Wainwright Madson O'Day Neshek
  18. Don't some also stay at the Westin Harbour Castle?
  19. In Boston, it's the Sheraton. Even saw the Chicago White Sox players there before the Jays series that weekend because got there on a Thursday. In Philly, it's the Ritz Carlton. In Cincy, I believe it's the Westin which is across the street from the Hilton downtown (where I stayed), since I saw some Jays players like Yunel Escobar and saw AA in the Westin lobby, since both hotels were connected by an above ground walkway, so always walked through there.
  20. Won't even reach 100 + K's this season, so I don't see how he is even considered.
  21. Last reliever to win a Cy Young was Eric Gagne in 2003 and he posted a 4.7 WAR. Britton won't even reach that this season.
  22. That's awesome! I've seen the Jays on the road a couple of times. First time in 2008 at the old Yankee Stadium, which was an afternoon game and Giambi hit a walk-off home run off BJ Ryan. I saw the Jays play a series in Boston in 2009 at the end of August. Stayed at the same hotel as the players which was pretty awesome. Got to meet Cito Gaston, Jose Bautista (when he was a nobody), Marco Scutaro, Jason Frasor, Jesse Carlson, Kevin Millar etc. Saw the Jays in Philly in 2010 (games were moved because of the G20 in Toronto) and saw Doc face the Jays for the first time. Stayed at the same hotel as the players again, and met Buck Martinez, & Jesse Litsch who actually came to our table at the bar to talk with us haha. In 2011, saw them play against Cincy and last year went to NYC in September and caught the doubleheader on the Saturday. Never have been to Seattle before, though I've got some Air Miles to burn and I figure to hit up Portland while I'm out there and Vancouver again.
