  1. I'd consider rolling the dice on him in this league now.
  2. Send me a PM, or shall TCA be the middle man again?
  3. TCA could have actually had Freddie Freeman last June/July for Stras, though he left the discussion table and never heard back. I think it's been almost over a year we've been trying to work out a deal that involved Stras lol. We come so close, then something stalls and it gets forgotten. Kind of the same with this deal. I think I threw this idea by him back in October and it wasn't going anywhere. I just threw the idea by him again just the other day.
  4. This kind of was on the back of my mind as well. Plus with this being an .OBP league, it hurts his value slightly in comparison to the standard 5x5 leagues. Don't think he'll be a main power threat like in 2015 again as well. Still he's a solid all-around player to own and his CF eligibility is a huge plus. I've been trying to shop for a No. 1 starter and had no luck. Even put Marte on the block numerous times and wasn't getting offered anything. Heck, even if I wanted Chris Sale from you it would have cost Nolan Arenado, so I'd rather go this route.
  5. I'd offer JA Happ + in a deal for Calhoun. Happ becomes a FA in 2019, Calhoun in 2020. Happ's value right now is probably at an all-time high. Plus 2 years/$26 million is a bargain for him. Obviously would have to add another piece along with Happ.
  6. Colorado is an interesting team. See them vying for a wild card, though a lot needs to break right. Big fan of Jon Gray.

If Atlanta is blowing it up, Raps should be 100% in on him.
  8. My trade is still on the table in this league.

I know that (in regards to your previous comment), though shocked they don't have an off-day after the semis. They really push these kids in this tournament.

  11. Dodgers would be a great fit.
  12. Could dangle some guys like Maybin, Upton, Puig etc.
  13. Sent you a PM.
  14. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/salvaging-the-blue-jays-winter/ Dave Cameron just wrote a piece today on the Jays.

You still had Leafs fans paying big $ to watch a losing hockey team all these years. Just saying.

Yup, with professional sports teams Montreal fans will only go and support their teams if they're winning. If its a losing team, nobody will go.

    Maybe tickets are really overpriced?

I don't either, though I think it probably means more in hockey then it does in baseball. As for a team being terrible, I was using the Oilers as an example since they have been terrible for years even with all the elite young talent they drafted. Leafs are still a couple of years away from being a legit Stanley Cup contender, though their success this season I think is more of a positive long term than negative.

If you live in Alberta and from the sounds of it you probably follow more hockey then me, so thanks for that perspective. Mostly out here from the media or just with casual hockey talk it always sounded like Edmonton was poorly ran and intentionally tanked for all those years (I probably exaggerated on the 4-5 year thing). Hall hasn't really become a cornerstone player (even with New Jersey), same with Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins. They're nice secondary pieces IMO, though not elite superstars that they were touted as. They're still young, so won't write them off completely. Hope the Oilers don't mess with the McDavid years, as they did with Hall.

Trade JV + for Cousins problem solved!

Agreed. Masai Ujiri seems like he'll get it done. Did the same with DeRozan last offseason and he realized how important that winning culture they have built over the last 3 seasons is. Lowry + DeRozan both play and feed off each other well together, which is always never that easy when dealing with two star players on the same team. The Raps likely have to move Carroll I think next offseason. Ross & Powell are good enough. JV is still pretty cheap and unless they bring in someone like Cousins, he needs to stick around.

They needed to get a top 3 pick in order to draft a franchise player like a Crosby, McDavid, Kane, Stamkos etc. to build around, so I'm glad they tanked last season. They weren't getting anywhere just being a mediocre team in the middle of the pack. It looks like they have an elite young player in Matthews, along with some other solid young pieces like Marner and Nylander and I could go on. The team was brutal anyways so it wasn't worth it to management adding extra pieces that would have helped in the short term. At least there has been a winning culture with the team this season and it definitely benefits Matthews, Marner, Nylander & others. The losing culture on the Oilers for the last 4-5 years never helped Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins etc. Hopefully they don't screw around with McDavid & company now.

Creating a winning attitude on a young team is important agreed. If you end up like Oilers of the last 4-5 years in always tanking & hoping to land a top draft pick, you'll never win and that will become the culture inside that dressing room. The Leafs are a fun team to watch, so would be nice to see them sneak in.
