  1. Atkins should be tarred and feathered!
  2. Maybe the Pirates at least can win the World Series before the Leafs ever win another Stanley Cup. I'll give them that!
  3. Got the update across all Fantrax fantasy baseball leagues I'm in last night, though thanks for the post!
  4. I was at a local bar watching the game tonight and heard guys at a table saying Hoffman was awful and the Jays need to get rid of him lol.
  5. Even with his struggles, I think Hoffman is the guy for the job in the 9th inning. When he's on, he can flat out dominate. As for tonight, I wouldn't have pitched to Wallner in that situation. If you end up leaving the top of the 9th inning at 4-4, Jays could have won.
  6. I did like the Seranthony Dominguez and Louis Varland additions, but yeah are they key pieces you can lean on in leverage spots? Not sure. Dominguez tonight and his last couple of outings has looked real good, but he can be erratic at times as well. The Jays bullpen is very deep, just doesn't have 2 or 3 elite shutdown guys that stand out. They have guys who are capable, its just they could wild at times. Hoffman, when he's on, is fine lol. Important that they ride their starters for as long as they can in the Postseason. Easier if Bieber pitches 7 innings and then they turn to the bullpen, rather than going to the pen in the 5th or 6th innings to close things out. Hopefully these issues sort themselves out in September and these guys are locked in during October baseball.
  7. Wallner has been pretty hot lately as well. And capable of hitting out of the park. Would have rather faced the next guy.
  8. I’m shocked they pitched to Wallner in that situation. Would have put him on but oh well.
  9. Damn double play beforehand haha. Jays are crushing Ober!
  10. What happened to Ober this season? Like he was good last season. Jays look like they're teeing off him tonight! Should be a high scoring game!
  11. Yeah last sentence very well said. It looks more bad for optics when it comes to signing future FA's. Any vet or player looking to sign a one-year deal likely won't even consider the Pirates. Otherwise, yes it's a defensible move since Heaney has sucked this season. If he was having a 2 WARish season, then different story lol.
  12. Yeah I know. Having Heaney making 5 more starts isn't going to make any difference in the big picture and it's not like he's been pitching well at all. I guess from an optics standpoint, doesn't look too good when it comes to signing other FA's in the future. But yeah that organization is still a hot mess.
  13. Pirates are such a joke. Hopefully they trade Paul Skenes and he gets out of that mess.
  14. The Jays definitely need to sign a front of rotation arm (Bieber, Woodruff, or Cease) + would be nice to bring back someone like Scherzer for a one-year deal. With both of them already being here, and if they've enjoyed their time in Toronto, probably gives the Jays an advantage and heads up over other teams. Gausman, Berrios and Lauer are fine for the back of the rotation. Anyone of those guys could pitch like a No. 3 in the rotation. Gausman seems to be losing a bit each year like you said, so tough counting on him as a No. 1/2 guy like before. Berrios falls in the same category now. Lauer is a wildcard, but he showed promise this season so doesn't hurt to roll with him again. Jays have a lot of depth behind those guys with Francis, Manoah, Macko, Bloss, Estrada, Schultz, Lucas, Yesavage which is a good thing over the course of 162 games.
  15. You could start either Scherzer or Gausman in Game 2. Jays management will make that call. Will depend on their throwing schedules and the matchup as well. Me personally, when Bieber wasn't in the picture before the trade deadline, would have used Scherzer in Game 1.
  16. If Bieber is healthy and if he's the Bieber we saw last Friday, for sure he is your number one. Would also include Scherzer & Gausman in your top 3, no questions asked. Scherzer despite the long ball concerns has pitched very well since coming back. As well, can't dismiss Scherzer and his Postseason experience. Lauer would be next in line. You don't need Lauer in a 3 or 5 game series, though possibly in a 7 game series. Also, depends on if the Jays want to utilize Lauer as a multi-inning reliever and occasionally use him in a leverage spot if they need to use a lefty. I don't even consider Bassitt or Berrios as starters in the Postseason unless there is an injury to one of the other 4 arms mentioned or if the Jays decide to use Lauer strictly out of the pen. Would only feel comfortable using Bassitt at home.
  17. Twins are 2-8 in their last 10. Like Brock said, Twins have basically given up as a team. Players/pitchers at this point are playing to pad up their stats or trying to make an impression for next season. Nothing is ever a gimmie in the MLB, but you gotta like the Jays chances to sweep this series!
  18. Gimenez is so smooth in the field. Makes everything look easy. I know his bat has been subpar, though very impressed with him defensively.
  19. So for AL MVP, is Cal Raleigh a serious contender or do you still think Judge walks away with it?
