  2. An important question: how long can Ohtani be a two-way player for and perform at a solid-elite level for both? Does he give up pitching half way through his contract lets say if he suffers a major injury and just focusing on being a DH? As a front office, you would want to make sure if you're handing Ohtani a $500 million contract that he hits and pitches for majority of that contract. If he isn't pitching like an ace or No. 2-3 starter in his later years, that contract could be a disaster.
  3. I was a frustrated Archer owner as well. Cut ties with him because he wasn't providing solid ratios and never qualifying for Wins. I also had Quintana earlier on and wish I cut ties with Archer before I did Quintana, regretting that one now.

Raptors sign Chris Boucher to three-year, $35.25M extension. Nice to lock him up for another three more years. I think he has more upside for sure and was solid in the Playoffs. If he can take the next step and average 15PPG with 7-8 RBP, that would be sweet.

Also, Deandre Ayton and Rudy Gobert could be traded. One of them would be great fits on the Raptors as well. This NBA offseason will be fun for sure!

Barnes for sure + I'm assuming one of OG, Siakam or VanVleet + a bunch of draft picks I would imagine.

A lot of people thought Leonard was going to be a drama queen, refuse to play his best, or be a cancer in the locker room, though quite the opposite. Durant makes the Raptors contenders for the next 2 to 3 years for another NBA Championship. He's one of the top 5 players in the league. Would love to see the Raptors acquire him! Masai isn't afraid of making big bold deals. He did it with Leonard, I would love to see him do it with Durant.
  9. I could name a couple of guys I would swap Archer for. Even relievers with SP eligibility.

Wasn't one of his favourite players growing up Vince Carter?
  11. Would love to see Castillo given a shot in the rotation. Reminds me of Kelvim Escobar.
  12. Chris Archer ain't worth owning in a 20-team league. Lucky if he goes 5 innings to qualify for a win and doesn't provide elite peripherals or K/9 to make him roster worthy.

Raptors should put together a package for Durant.

A lot of top NBA players are drama queens and at the snap of their fingers, can demand trades or create their own super teams just like that. It's a superstar driven league. You don't see it in the MLB or NHL. The NBA offseason is always fun though.

Yeah so they will have to be creative and move a big piece in order to free up some salary cap and/or to go after an elite goaltender.
  17. Some BP arms who the Blue Jays should target: Seranthony Domínguez - 11.39 K/9 Wil Crowe - 9.55 K/9 Matt Moore - 10.35 K/9 David Robertson - 12.10 K/9 Tanner Rainey - 10.80 K/9 Adding an arm like Seranthony Dominguez would be a huge upgrade and he would still be under team control. Price likely will be high, though the Phillies likely will be sellers at the deadline. I love Moore because I think if you can get him to lower his BB/9 and work with Pete Walker, he can turn into an Andrew Miller light who you can use for more than 3 outs.
  18. Luck is definitely involved in constructing an elite bullpen. You need to get lucky with some arms whether developing guys, converting failed starters in your system, free agent signings who are potential rebound candidates, minor league free agent signings or through trades. I don't think the answer is just to throw unlimited money at the bullpen by signing middle relievers to 3 or 4 year deals or by trading a bunch of top prospects for bullpen arms at the trade deadline. Even by doing that doesn't guarantee you a solid bullpen. Though given where the team is and the core in place, the bullpen can be the last area where this team spends some money or makes a big trade to push them over the hump. The focus should be having a roster that is built to go deep in the Postseason. Most likely the Blue Jays will grab a Wild Card spot, though given the way the roster is now, this team isn't built to go on a deep Postseason run.
  19. Depends on how far the Blue Jays go. If they make it to the ALCS lets say, that would be a huge positive with this young group. I'm sure Rogers would view the Blue Jays as really close to winning a World Series in 2023 and 2024, so doubt Atkins would go anywhere. The 2016 Blue Jays were a carry over from the 2015 Blue Jays, so the rebuild didn't start until really things blew up in 2017. Atkins/Shapiro took about 3 seasons to get this team to where it needed to be in terms of contenders. 2020 season was a first taste, though doesn't count IMO. Blue Jays in 2021 were serious contenders who missed out by ONE game. Sucks because a lot of games they blew in April/May/June could have been the difference with a stronger pen. The window to contend is over the next 2-3 years. If the Blue Jays don't win a World Series by 2025 with this core in place, the window will close on them most likely. If the Blue Jays fail to reach the Postseason and/or lose in the Wildcard Round, and the glaring issue was because of the bullpen blowing games, then I think Atkins can be on the hot seat. Though still think he would get a pass for 2023. If the Jays go into 2023 with an awful bullpen again and it costs them winning the division especially with this young core they have, then yes the front office should be held accountable.

Any free agents that the Leafs could target and afford? Phil Kessel on a line with Matthews or Marner would be pretty sick. Plus Kessel can visit his favourite hot dog stand outside of Union Station everyday haha.

Nylander seems like a guy who could be an 80-90 point player one season and then a 50-60 point player the next season. He's not in the same elite class as a Matthews or Marner. Even when the Leafs brought Nylander back at 7M a couple of years ago, he wasn't playing that well and I remember some Leafs fans and media personalities were questioning the contract and whether or not he could be easily moved. He's coming off a career year this past season and his trade value is probably the highest it will be. If the Leafs can get a top D man or goalie that makes the team better especially to go on a deep playoff run, they should consider it.
  22. Bring Brian Wilson out of retirement! Jays could use him!
  23. Will catch up to them in September. Could be the difference of having home field in the first round!
  24. Jays or any other team should have won. Hope this win that got away doesn't come to bite in September.
