  1. Wouldn't sleep on the White Sox. Battled some significant injuries this season and have underachieved greatly. They were highly rated as the Blue Jays entering the 2022 season as well.
  2. Perfectly said. Orioles have been known to spend big when they're competing and this could be a big offseason for them. The team had success from 2012-2016, so they had a strong 5 year window of being competitive. I could see the same with this current roster. It's not a 1 year thing, likely looking at them being a threat in the AL East for another 4 or 5 years if they spend wisely and their top young talent produces.
  3. Yeah Baltimore would have to spend that money wisely, though they can definitely add some significant payroll if they wanted to which is scary. Orioles had success from 2012-2016. The AL East will always be one of the most difficult divisions in the AL. Yankees and Red Sox will always spend, and the Rays are always a threat even with a low payroll.
  4. For the Orioles to end the season under .500, they have to go 12-21 the rest of the way. They're playing with a lot of momentum right now, the starting pitching has held up, and they have a lights out BP. Don't think they'll overtake any of the Wildcard teams, though you never know. We've seen weirder things happen in baseball the final month.
  5. How about Brandon Nimmo? He's a FA after this season. Definitely would love to see the Jays go after Edwin Diaz, and open to bringing back Chicken Strip for the No. 5 spot.
  6. If Carlos Rodon opts out, would love the Jays to go hard after him but he'll get a huge payday. Some other intriguing FA's I wouldn't mind: Sean Manaea, Kyle Gibson, Andrew Heaney, Jameson Taillon, Corey Kluber, Mike Clevinger, José Quintana, Matthew Boyd. One of those arms would slide nicely in the middle of the rotation.
  7. It makes sense targeting a No. 2/3 starter this offseason IMO even with Berrios around. Puts the Blue Jays in a better position especially if Berrios finds his form!
  8. Clunkers from Rodon and Mikolas on Monday didn't help. It's okay, I'm starting Mitch White for tonight. Figure I have nothing to lose.
  9. Ooof! Nola gives up 8 runs and Manning gives up 7 runs! Looks like you got ERA in the bag BTS this week haha.
  10. $25M this season and next. Cubs gave him some huge money over 3 years - can total $71 million. I was going to say, he would be a nice fit on this Jays team as a No. 3/4 starter, though not at $25M haha.
  11. Picked up a win during my first GDT of the season and on my birthday. Can't complain haha!
  12. I dislike Stroman as a person as well. He comes off as a huge beta and whines about everything. Though I do appreciate and recognize his role with the Jays in 2015 and 2016. He pitched in some big games at a young age: came back in 2015 from a torn ACL to pitch down the stretch and pitched in the 2016 Wildcard game against Baltimore. He had a solid tenure during his time with the Blue Jays, so if I ever saw him pitch again at the Rogers Centre, I would give him a standing applause at the beginning of the game. Seems like he's great with young fans as well, signing autographs and chatting with some fans in the stands before the game. Definitely give him props for that.
  13. Didn't something like this take place in Oakland as well just a couple of weeks ago? Hope this doesn't become a thing in the nosebleeds at MLB ballparks.
  14. Where were the ushers haha? Definitely something newsworthy for BlogTO.
  15. You don't want to shut down Verlander completely until the Postseason. Starting pitchers need to pitch every 5th day to keep them fresh and sharp. A long layoff likely hurts him more than helps. So hopefully he can come back on the 13th and can get #2-3 starts in before the Postseason.
  16. Verlander placed on IL. Non-throwing related though at least. Hope he's not out for an extended period of time.
  17. It's my birthday today, so the Jays will win.
  18. Something special is happening!
  19. Whatever tweaks he worked on with the pitching coach didn't work.
  20. I was never a fan of the red jerseys. Painful to look at.
  21. Hope he sticks around a bit longer!
