  1. Yeah it's fun seeing a player reach a certain milestone in those stats or to put up some crazy video game numbers in certain categories when the final day of the season rolls around.
  2. Yeah exactly, in my view have to look at the whole picture. Just not one stat and think its the be-all and end-all. That includes advanced stats as well. There is nothing wrong with looking at pitcher wins when evaluating a starting pitcher. It shouldn't be the only stat to look at obviously, though it can be useful like you said. Someone like Halladay, who pitched on a .500 Blue Jays team most of the time, his pitching wins definitely help show how he was an amazing pitcher, pitching deep into games like 7 to 8 innings each time out or even throwing complete games. You don't see that anymore from arms today. Game has definitely changed where elite starters only pitch into the 6th or 7th and the bullpen closes out the game. I guess a lot of baseball nerds take issue when someone casual says "How many wins can this pitcher get?" or "He won 15 games last season, he's really good." There are people like that haha. Halladay was never a huge strikeout pitcher. Career 6.93 K/9. So if you just looked for a high K rate, you probably wouldn't think Doc was one of the best pitchers. Lets say if we compared Halladay in 2003 to lets say an arm like Spencer Strider today, I bet most would say Spencer Strider is a way better arm. But again, shows you not just to look at high K/9 as an only stat to evaluate a pitcher.
  3. Chad Kuhl to Washington on a MiLB deal. If he's fully recovered, probably wins a spot in their rotation.
  4. As of Jan 26th: Brandon Nimmo Trey Mancini David Fletcher Vinnie Pasquantino Max Stassi Nicky Lopez Dan Castano Andre Ballente Jordan Roman Matt Festa They need some pitching. Maybe Jake Ordorizzi, Adam Ottavino join haha. Lineup wise, they're not too bad. Maybe Anthony Rizzo commits again. Michael Comforto but probably not coming off his injuries. In a short tournament, anything can happen. But yah they're no DR, Venezuela, USA or Japan roster wise that's for sure.
  5. Just a reminder Italy beat Canada at the WBC in 2009.
  6. Looks like he would be a great option for AAA depth.
  7. We've had BJMB meetups before at Jays game. Got like 7 or 10 of us to show up I think two or three times which was awesome!
  8. So it's just an area for like private/group functions? Seriously?
  9. Yeah my guess is you have an assigned seat at one of the bar rails and could walk around the area. Kind of like a closed bar/area for 50-60 people. Only way for a ticket to cost $205.
  10. In terms of sporting events in Canada or just the GTA, the Blue Jays ticket prices are still very fair, affordable and less expensive in comparison to teams like the Leafs and Raptors or heck even a concert. What will set you back is the cost at the concession stands, which are crazy expensive. That's at every venue - Rogers Centre, BMO Field, Scotia Arena, movie theatres etc. Not sure the Jays are the best deal in the MLB but overall baseball isn't crazy expensive like the NFL down in the US or hockey up here. As well with 81 home games, not every game will be a huge sellout so you can even snap up some good seats below cost like during a weeknight in April/May. Also, depends on the opponent, date of game, giveaway, weather etc., that factor into ticket demand.
  11. I guess they're trying to make that Mezzanine seating area next to the bullpen like a Green Monster area in terms of ticket prices. As long as you have a guaranteed seat like a bar chair and that area is closed off to everyone else in the ballpark, I guess it's a cool and different experience. If it's just standing room only, not a fan.
  12. Also seems on the arrogant side as well. But yeah definitely very thin skinned and overly sensitive. Kind of a turn off for me.

If Playoffs started today, would be against Tampa?
  14. As much as I like Manoah, he seems like the next Stroman in terms of personality.

Better hope Leafs don't meet the Bruins in the first round.
  16. Those are some big arms you traded all in one offseason. I still think you'll benefit with Arenado in our deal we did.
  17. Yeah in hindsight that trade looks real bad. Jason Frasor had some good seasons out of the pen in Toronto, but Jayson Werth definitely provided more value from 2007-2010 with the Phillies. Dodgers got rid of Werth after 2005 and Werth missed all of 2006. Jays also had Wells and Rios in their OF along with Cat/Johnson in 2006 so who knows if Werth was going to stay around that long and get an opportunity in 2007 with the Jays.

Those rumours will be out there for sure next season. What about his TV contract? If he starts in the booth next season, would he be allowed to lets say sign late season for Week 10 etc. with a team?
  19. Yeah it's like making a trade deadline deal but a couple of months earlier and it's only costing money. Plus the Jays can monitor his recovery during this time as well.
  20. Cut my prospects to open up slots and main roster is legal. No non-red flag players on IL. Did same for BORED as well.

Yeah sad day for the NFL. As a fan of Tom Brady, wish he could have played forever but we knew this day was going to come. He still played very well this season but yeah sad he couldn't go out on top. Thought he could have easily played for another 2-3 seasons but in the end he accomplished everything a starting QB would want to accomplish during their careers. Don't think we'll see a better QB in our lifetime.
  22. So we need to make room on our minor league roster for the picks? As for main roster, it has to be legal correct?
  23. Verlander, Scherzer and Kershaw make it on the first ballot. Greinke it will take a couple of years but I think he'll get in.
  24. Yeah Halladay is the better arm, no denying that. Had a more dominant career and more dominant years than Greinke. Also, Doc pitched in the AL East majority of his peak and then in the NL East, whereas Greinke pitched in the AL Central, NL Central and then NL West. Pitched in some favorable pitching parks during his peak.
  25. Great signing. Definitely worth the risk IMO. Green is one of the elite pen arms in the game when healthy.
