  1. I'll lock in Springer for tonight so I don't forget either.
  2. Will never happen, but if the Jays had a ballpark like in Milwaukee, Seattle, Houston or Arizona, I don't think people would complain as much if the roof is closed since those ballparks still get some natural light in their ballparks.
  3. Bullpen is good enough and has enough depth to get by over the 162 game season. In a short series against another elite team during the Postseason, not so much. It's not Championship caliber the way it is now that's for sure. Chad Green and Nate Pearson can be the difference makers. If both of them are on top of their game, definitely transforms this bullpen. Bring up Pearson at the end of April. Use him in low leverage situations at first. Let him get comfortable and if he is having success, can move him up the depth charts. Pearson is going to take time, can't just expect to throw him into the fire come August.
  4. Phillies had some high strikeout arms in their pen last season.
  5. It's hilarious how some people freak out only after 10 games. Rays had a super easy schedule against some of the weakest teams and are playing really hot right now. There are still 152 games left to go. Still way too early. Pitching wise, they have some studs. They have some strong BP arms as well. Bats will cool off over the long run. Wouldn't everyone say the Jays going 6-4 to start the season on the road a good start? I'm happy they finished that lengthy road trip 6-4. St. Louis isn't an easy team. They won 3 of 4 against the Royals and took 2 of 3 against the Angels. It could have been worse and they could have been 4-6.
  6. Yeah fans will be complaining for sure, especially the casuals. BlogTO probably will write a short blurb about it as well. I know they don't open the roof until May, but 20 plus degrees this week. Shame they can't open it.
  7. If I owned the Blue Jays, the roof would be open everyday!
  8. Also, not sure there are many solid options on the trade market as well for 3B.
  9. Yup Chappy is gone after this season. He's definitely getting 5 years close to $150M as a minimum IMO if he posts up a 5-6 WAR season. Most likely more given the weak 3B market.
  10. Would be awesome if they opened the roof. The Dome sucks when the roof is closed.
  11. Never doubted Chapman having a huge season given it's a contract year. The guy is going to set career highs and bests across the board and get paid.
  12. Its a decent pen with solid depth though it's still not an elite pen in my opinion. My concern so far is a lot of pen arms being overworked in the early going. They won't be able to keep up this pace in the dog days of summer and fall. It's important this team gets some length from their starters, which have been really awful thus far, outside of Gausman. When guys are going good, we need Gausman and Manoah hopefully pitching into the 7th inning on a consistent basis. I'm not concerned with Romano as a stopper. Just hopefully he's kept fresh during the season because you'll have to rely heavy on him in the Postseason. If Green comes back and pitches close to his previous form and if they add Pearson to this BP mix, I think that could make a big difference. Otherwise, this BP still misses some guys with swing and miss stuff. I'm not completely confident in them having a lockdown 7th or 8th inning guy. I don't consider Garcia or Mayza those kind of guys despite them being solid to start the season. Swanson in the same boat. Bass, Cimber, Pop IMO are just middle relievers. I don't want them pitching in a close 1-run game with runners on base in the 7th or 8th inning. The bullpen is likely good enough to get through the season if they aren't overworked, though come Postseason time I'm not sure it's good enough especially when starters are on shorter leashes in the Postseason. I think internally, they can improve if Green comes back and if Pearson steps up in a big way. Otherwise, I think they might need to add another elite reliever at the trade deadline.

Lets hope the Leafs can make it past the first round. This group can't afford to get eliminated again in R1.
  14. Arizona taking 3 of 4 of the Dodgers. D'Back's will be a fun team to watch. A little short on starting pitching IMO though. But love them as sleepers in the NL.
  15. His dopplebanger
  16. Most posters on these board loved the signing. Sure Belt can turn into a dumpster fire but its only been a week into the season.
  17. Belt will turn it around.
  18. Meh against a lefty, don't get your hopes up.
  19. Bo needs to clean up his fielding. He's pretty much become Russ Adams in the field. I love Bo's bat, but his defense sometimes can be frustrating to watch.
  20. I picked Springer before the game started as well.
  21. bones10 quoted an older post
  22. I picked Springer as well
  23. April 8 Vladdy - 2 Points Bichette - 2 Points Belt - 4 Points Varsho - 4 Points Kirk - 4 Points Springer - 4 Points - Jonn, Dylan, JaysBlue Chapman - 4 Points - TCA Merrifield - 10 Points - Stangstag Espinal - 12 Points Off the bench: 20 Points
  24. He's annoying on social media, but I'll always like him for what he did during his tenure with the Jays. Him coming back at the end of 2015 making some big starts against the Yankees and helping them in the Postseason. He was a gamer for sure those two seasons.
