Not sure you make that call for holding at that point in the game. The game was great up to that point. Last two minutes felt disappointing. Late flag as well. Philly was the better team IMO, but that fumble in the first half hurt and also allowing that punt return in the second half. Lead to two easy touchdowns. KC capitalized. Mahomes was alright but he even threw under 200 yards. Sucks to see the game be decided on a 3rd down penalty call that looked questionable, but oh well.

Put $50 on the Eagles to win. Might add more later on.
  3. Nice deal by the DBacks signing Chafin to $6.5M for one year.
  4. Adam Loewen still pitching. Good to see him suit up for the WBC. Canada's roster isn't that bad. Would have been nice if Josh Naylor could have suited up.

I don't have high hopes for the Raps this season. Even if they get the play-in, they're getting knocked out R1.
  6. Happy Birthday Spanky!!!! Drinking beer and raising a glass for you tonight!
  7. In a perfect world, would have been nice to sign Kluber or Cueto to a one-year deal but oh well. Still, Jays SP depth I think is fine. Sure if we're talking about a season ending injury to one of their top arms, then different story. They can hold the fort down if a starter has to miss 2-3 turns. I think White for 20 starts wouldn't hurt or Thompson for 10-12 starts would be fine. Plus some of the young guys the Jays have who could come up.
  8. Yeah this is one of the deepest rosters we have seen. In terms of depth, position versatility, lineup balance, behind the plate, defense, starting pitching and bullpen. Even last season on Opening Day, kind of felt this team had some holes and wasn't that complete. Really pleased with the job Atkins and company have done this offseason. If majority of this team stays healthy, they'll be excellent in 2023. Even with some minor injuries, this team has enough quality depth to hold down the fort for a couple of weeks if they lose a big bat or starter. We won't be seeing 500 AB's wasted on Tapia, Zimmer in the lineup everyday for a stretch, or innings wasted on guys like Casey Lawrence.
  9. Even Duvall was a FA, damn.
  10. AG, I'll accept your offer. Have to make room on your roster.
  11. I think when Darvish is healthy and on, he's a very good 1A or No. 2 arm. He's still a notch below JV and Max who have consistenly been 5-6 WAR pitchers every season, whereas Darvish hasn't strung together consistent 4 WAR seasons. He definitely would be an attractive FA after 2023 if he had another 4 WAR season, though don't think he gets JV or Max money.
  12. I don't think the Padres had to extend Darvish at this exact minute given his age and at that cost. They were bidding against themselves. I don't see Darvish getting that type of contract as a FA after 2023.
  13. That's insane.

Glad to see Poeltl back with the Raps. Always liked him and he's having a great season! Looks like the Raps might not selloff after all, but we'll see. Hope they can add some more depth. Right now they sit in 10th place for the Play-In.

Nets are 32-22 and trading all their stars. Crazy.

Yeah OG and Barnes seem to be the same type of player. Also, heard rumours OG isn't happy hear but not sure the truth to that.
  17. Yeah Stroman coming back at the end of 2015 and he pitched well for the Jays after that. Definitely a gamer. Even though on social media he appears as a woke, cry baby, a-hole, he pitched well with the Jays.
  18. I liked John McDonald as a super utility guy when he was here. Fan favourite and easy player to like and root for. His glove was amazing.

They're not s***. They could easily well be 30-25 instead. But yeah closing out games, injuries and a weak bench have hurt them. Hope they can turn it around. Even if they make the Playoffs, they likely have a first round exit.
  20. You have to look at the player as a whole and the value they provide. I don't think neither me or Brownie are saying hitting .300 is a bad thing. It's definitely a plus. Players who just hit .300 but are below average in other areas like Eckstein exist. Same with guys who hit .220 with 30 HR's but offer nothing else like Chris Carter. Ideally, you don't want those bats in your lineup.

Yeah I don't think the Raptors should completely blow it up and suck for 5 years. Those days weren't fun. Masai has done a good job keeping this team competitive and not awful even during this retool. Hope they can still be competitive and add when they need to. I thought the Raps could have been a middle of the pack team in the East this season, though injuries, some inconsistencies, lack of bench depth have hurt them this season.
  22. Was really excited when the Jays got Jose Reyes. Always wanted him back in 2006 and 2007 as a leadoff hitter here. Was decent in his first season but sucks his defense was poor and afterwards just became a dumpster fire.
  23. Tony Batista had one weird stance. Had a monster season in 2000 hitting 41 HR's.
  24. Josh Towers was my favourite pitcher when I was a kid. I know he sucked in 2006 and 2007 but in 2003 and 2005 he was solid with the Jays. I was kinda of like him as a pitcher - when I played house league, never threw gas and was never overpowering but always located and focused on control so as a pitcher tried to copy him in that respect. After Halladay went down in 2005, Towers helped anchor the Jays rotation the rest of the way: 13-12, 3.71 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 3.6 WAR. Heck in 2007, he had the guts to beam A-Rod. Definitely gotta give him props for that! Also, big thanks to Spanky for his jersey a couple of years ago!
