  1. If you told me before this series the Jays would take 2 of 3 with a team coming in 13-0, I would take that in a heart beat! The Jays did really well this weekend, kudos to them. Manoah hasn't looked good at all. Even against KC, he walked 4 and struck out only 5. I expected some regression from him this season where he pitches more like a No. 3 starter instead of a 1/2. But yeah there has to be some concern if he doesn't turn it around because that only leaves Gausman as their true elite arm in the rotation, unless guys like Bassitt and Berrios step up and pitch like 2/3s. If Manoah continues to pitch awful like this or has to land on the IL, my concern would be the front of the rotation. Hope that Berrios returns to form and Bassitt just pitches like a reliable No. 3 and it's not too bad. Kikuchi also has looked good in 2 of his 3 starts, so that's promising.

You would think the Mavs with Luka Doncic would be a contender for an NBA Championship. Such a disappointing season. They need to add another elite player with him and if they keep Irving around.

It's a complete joke. NHL Playoffs need to start at the beginning of April. It's ridiculous that the Playoffs start past the halfway point of April. They drag on the season for too damn long.

That's loose change for Mark Cuban lol.
  7. We had some discussion on what we call washrooms in the Around Baseball thread for a bit. Who would have thought? It's a regional thing. In Europe, they just say toilets.

NHL Playoffs start next week? WTF?! I was looking forward to Saturday Night games tomorrow! And there are still 2 regular season games being played tonight! Geez this is such a joke! At this pace, the Stanley Cup will played in July!
  9. Luis Patino or Yonny Chiranos When is Glasnow expected back?

Yeah same here, I hope the Leafs could at least make R2 or the Conference Finals. Would be a great thing for their team and the excitement in the city would be huge. NHL Playoffs and the NHL regular season are both different IMO. The NHL Playoffs are definitely more physical, more hits, and defense/goaltending play a huge role in a series. With the talent the Leafs have, they shouldn't be exiting R1 for how many years in a row now. If they have another R1 exit these Playoffs, you have to start asking serious questions whether or not this group can ever win a Stanley Cup, which is the goal. Leafs won't completely blow everything up, but I think some fundamental changes would have to be made. Not sure if this is a good example, but look at the Raptors leading up to 2019 during the DeRozan/Lowry years. They always were successful during the regular season, but during the Playoffs they weren't a strong team and could never get over that hump. They traded DeRozan for Kawhi and we know what happened that season. The Raps did get lucky in the NBA Playoffs that season with Kawhi's winning shot and by playing a Golden State team in the NBA Finals without Kevin Durant, but still. After a couple years with DeRozan and not having success in the Playoffs, they made some fundamental changes to their roster and coaching staff.
  11. Enjoy! Houston is a beautiful ballpark. Definitely check out their CF bar and excellent food stands all around the ballpark!

If the Leafs don't make it out of the first round, I think you'll see a bit of a shakeup as well.
  13. Plus drinking 4 or 5 beers at a game means a couple of trips to the washroom, meaning lineups and likely missing a big hit or play.
  14. Rays are due to lose one game as well! Haha.

I recall there being a lot of back-to-back games for the Leafs and other teams this season. I understand hockey is more physical than lets say basketball, so I do understand the rest period if it's built into the schedule. Maybe start the season a bit earlier, but already the NHL offseason is very short especially for teams who go on a deep playoff run.
  16. If I end up going to a game, at most I'll have one beer. Doesn't bother me now even if I don't have a beer. I can't justify spending $15 for a $3-4 can at the LCBO.
  17. Utility players can be added at the trade deadline. If the Jays need to upgrade on Espinal or Biggio, sure they easily will be able to. It's a weak market even at 2B for 2024 free agency. Actually pretty weak hitters market overall. Pitching market seems pretty decent though.

Yeah I don't get it. They start the NHL season even earlier than the NBA season and the NBA Finals are usually finished before the Stanley Cup. NHL season and Playoffs just drag on for too long IMO. Start the regular season end of September/first day of October and have the regular season end March 31st. Playoffs should have started already first week of April. If NHL Playoffs start first day of April, we probably would be wrapping up R1 right about now this weekend. Can't believe yesterday I was watching the Leafs/Rangers still play a regular season game in the middle of April.
  19. I'll go with Varsho
  20. Yeah Gallen isn't a sleeper overall obviously. Though don't think he was even considered a favourite to win the NL Cy Young on most lists/predictions. Definitely I would think more arms would be ahead of him.
  21. In comparison to guys like Strider, Verlander, Alcantara, Nola, Wheeler, Burnes, Woodruff etc.?
  22. Joe Ryan AL Cy Young sleeper pick! Zac Gallen is my NL Cy Young sleeper pick!
  23. I think every beer now at the Rogers Centre is like $15. The days of $10 beer are no more!
