  1. "Brain worms"? This coming from the biggest flip flopper on the board lol. Never said it was a bad deal and nothing against Swanson at all. Just wasn't crazy about it at the time. Macko is still a lottery ticket. Hope he could be a valuable arm, but not a guarantee. Like BigCecil said, maybe if Teo stuck around he could have been extended to a short 2 year deal or something. As well, Jays could have used Teo's bat in 2023 and this season. But yeah a lot of what if's and noise which not going to get into. Will also add, yes drafting and development has been a major issue with this front office. Should be able to produce arms like Swanson every so often and shouldn't have to trade assets for them in the offseason.
  2. Swanson: 14.04 ERA, 9.02 FIP, 6.48 K/9 and -0.4 fWAR in 8.1 innings thus far. I know I'll get heat for saying this, but that trade last offseason wasn't a "steal" as it was made out to be by some of the Atkins cult on here. No knocks against Swanson. He was really solid last season. But I couldn't care about controllability for a 30-year-old reliever. We know relievers are volatile and so far in year 2 of 3, looks like it could be a lost season for Swanson. He's not 100% or something. Considering the Jays needed offensive help badly last season, that trade really didn't make a lot of sense IMO. You should be able to find relievers like Swanson easily or develop them - you shouldn't have to trade an everyday 2 WAR player or better for them. It wasn't a bad trade and I even said at the time. I understand the reasonings for it, but just wasn't crazy about it for the Jays.
  3. Carlos Santana would be leading the Jays in HR and RBI lol. That's sad.
  4. Bailey Ober is a good pitcher.
  5. lmao Nah its more about some of the insufferable posters on here who are arrogant and attack you for any constructive criticism of Atkins and this FO. I want the Blue Jays to win a World Series. The Jays were super close in 2015 and 2016. Miss those days for sure!
  6. Not getting out pitchforks haha. I'm very impressed with Varsho still and even as his bat regresses, he's still a very valuable player who can put up a 3-4 WAR. No problem with that at all. My post was more of jab at you guys part of the Atkins cult. You get so excited about a players performance after two weeks in like IKF or Turner but when someone criticizes a player after a month + into the season, "it's too early." But yeah the "it's too early" doesn't apply to you when you rave about IKF or Turner after two weeks into the season lol.
  7. He'll end up pitching in the KBO or NPB for two seasons and then sign back with a MLB club after posting a sub-3 ERA.
  8. Gausman pitches this afternoon!
  9. Yup for the Atkins cult it's never too early when Varsho is raking over the first two weeks. But it's too early when players or the team as a whole are struggling over an entire month+.
  10. Only 5 pages for this GDT. Wow. Was walking through Union late yesterday afternoon and saw a huge crowd of Jays fans heading to the game. Felt sorry for them all.
  11. Swanson is a 30-year-old reliever and last season had a 0.9 fWAR with a 3.81 xFIP. This season he has a -0.5 fWAR thus far. Not knocking him as he was solid in 2023 and is still under team control for another year, but give me an everyday player like Teo over a reliever like Swanson. Jays could have used Teo's bat last season (probably would have had better numbers in Toronto) and likely would have had a better chance at re-signing him to an extension. Swanson had to be a 1.0 - 1.5 WAR reliever every season, and so far doesn't look like that will happen. Finding relievers like Swanson should be easy. Shouldn't have to trade assets like Teo for them. We'll see how Macko does.
  12. I didn't mind bringing back KK, but not as an everyday player. Someone who maybe gives you 300 AB's. Jays needed some pop and had Varsho who could already cover CF. Agreed with you on Springer. They need to shake things up with the lineup and move him down. Can't have him batting leadoff anymore.
  13. It's okay. We robbed Erik Swanson from the Mariners which was a complete steal by Atkins!
  14. You definitely are a voice of reason. Two weeks ago you said this bullpen was so elite and the Jays were clutch team that knew how to win lol. Then this week you come out saying the exact opposite lol.
  15. Watching Eat My Shatkins trying to defend Atkins and this front office is hilarious! He is definitely getting paid haha.
  16. lol Excuses!
  17. I'm throwing names out there Spanky. Aging players with awful contracts have been traded before. Why don't you come up with some ideas?
  18. Yeah maybe Hicks wasn't interested in coming back. As well, if the Giants gave him 4 years/$44M, Jays likely have to go an extra year and/or up the AAV maybe closer to $13-14M. Even if he never panned out as a starter, still worth the 4 years/$44M for the Giants, since most late-inning arms were getting similar years and AAV.
  19. He's still only 27 and always has had electric stuff, so definitely worth the gamble for San Fran. Worst case, they move him back to the pen and he's still a valuable late-inning arm at $11M per season. Pitching in San Fran helps for sure. K/9 as a starter (7.11K/9) lower than his career averages and has a 3.25 FIP thus far. Still quite impressive over his first 7 starts but will be interesting to see how he holds up over a full season. If San Fran gave him 4 years and $44M, sure the Blue Jays would have had to either go an extra year and/or up the AAV. Plus who knows if Hicks wanted to return to Toronto anyways.
  20. Yeah a money for money type of deal. Maybe someone like a Starling Marte (19.5M AAV and one less year) or Nolan Arenado (1.2 WAR already this season but doubt the Cards move him right now). Just some names off the top of my head.
  21. Don't think the Jays had a chance at bringing back Hicks unless they offered him a job in the rotation. Giants from the get go were willing to sign Hicks and give him another shot as a starter.

    Deja Vu every season.
  23. Wonder if there are any trades for Springer out there. Like trade him for another veteran player or arm that needs a change of scenery.
  24. He only has pitched 6 innings because he's been on the IL and how many months coming off TJS? I thought Atkins and this front office only target durable and healthy arms?
  25. I'm not dunking on the signing but I did acknowledge that it was a lot of money at the time and it came with risk due to his injury concerns. As well, stated that I hope the $11M didn't handcuff the Jays from making other moves this offseason. You and the other members of the Atkins cult were praising the signing as such a bargain and steal. Any criticism of the deal was met with backlash lol. If Green is healthy, I think he definitely is a valuable arm but I wouldn't bet on it.
