  1. I was saying that he returned too soon. Whether the triceps was medically cleared or not, he did clearly pitch like it bothered him. His damn release point was even different on fastballs to breaking balls. He was destined to get lit up. Being injured chronically is not ok. It's absolutely a big warning bell but his downfall in 2013 did/does appear to be correctable. That doesn't mean that he won't get hurt again. I'm saying that it's likely that he becomes a good pitcher again. For how long? No idea.
  2. I'd have qualified him and been fine with him accepting. He clearly had a triceps issue all year and came back too soon.
  3. The sad thing here is that the season really rests on the arms of McGowan, Drabek, Hutchison and Romero, along with Morrow's health. The reality is that at least two of the first four I named really have to excel far beyond expectations. That's a lot to hope for.
  4. There's a bandwagon? Must be located in Buffalo.
  5. If only he could pitch.
  6. Not really but perhaps I should clarify. I only meant that by even only 3 weeks into the season, McGowan might not be able to hang in, Happ could be back and any one of Morrow or Santana could very well be injured. Hutchison might be forced up...
  7. Dickey Buherle Morrow Santana McGowan Pray on the McGowan starts but give him at least 4 and keep the pen ready. Send Hutch down to start the year because he has options and really could use work coming off surgery. Happ to the DL because he's just not right. Drabek and Rogers in the pen (no options). Be ready to blow it all up by April 20th.
  8. Heck ya they would. Who's going to start? I see 3 starters, one of whom is oft injured. As of today, none of Drabek, Happ, McGowan, Rogers or anyone else look ready or like they will be in 3 weeks. And don't say Hutch. If they are counting on a kid with options, coming off surgery to be a go to guy, this is going to be another long year.
  9. Too much here to read it all. I just say sign the guy. This team needs starting pitching. Simple as that.
  10. And if they find a freak who throws nothing but lob and palm balls, who has no hope of getting anyone out above AA, sign him too. Take those freaky outs in long A and AA. Winning is a nice habit for players to get into and no one is getting a sore arm due to work. Lots of doubleheaders in the minors.
  11. Knuckleballers, submariners and any pitcher with a really nasty curve ball get minor league hitters out. These guys are never a bad idea as organizational depth because they effectively eat innings and real prospects are able to just throw the innings they should throw.
  12. 1. Blue Jays 2. 80 million 3. Monday 4. KEVIN GRAY Real signing and details to follow on Tuesday....
  13. I'm not just talking Blue Jays. I mean all across baseball.
  14. My initial thought is that coaches are saying that scouting has become great, so just get on base... work on that. Interesting.
  15. Firstly, I'm kinda old so this is a big sample size. Over the years I've seen many Spring Training Games. Never have I seen a year where pitchers are so focused on location and strikes, over working a pitch. At the same time I've never seen so many hitters just trying to sit on strikes and drive singles, over getting big cuts in. Anyway, for what that's worth but it seems like a very different approach to preparing this year over last year or any other year I can recall. Anyone else notice this?
  16. You want Drabek to go to Boston?
  17. The Cubs do want a lot as a return. Is what it is and a good reason no deal has been done.
  18. No success at all for Lind, Hill, Janssen, Cecil, McGowan (pre injury) and we did bring up Jayson Werth. Just throwing out some post Halladay/ Wells names.
  19. Probably asking Gose, Tirado and Nay, with a throw in like Drabek as a project. And with AA saying that's far too much and countering with Gose, Tirado and Nolin, while insisting they also take Happ and all his salary. * I mean something like the above-- not necessarily the exact names.
  20. They would want more than just Sanchez in the way of talent and that's without an extension. Anyway, you can probably relax, even though both sides keep revisiting a deal, mostly because no extension looks likely, Gose is the rumored prized pig. At least 2 more pieces would move to the Cubs if they ever figured this thing out. That's a big if!
  21. Edwin v Sierra bat speed is like Verlander v Happ fastballs.
  22. Royals, Reds, Jays, Mariners, Marlins and Nats overs and Yankees and Giants unders look like gifts.
  23. Over Over Over Over Under Under Under Over Under Under Under Over Under Over Under Over Over Under Over Over Under Under Over Over Under Over Over Over Over Under
  24. Also, removing a catcher who couldn't catch Dickey, Morrow, Santos, McGowan, Jeffress or Drabek and while never calling for anyone's splitter... do the math if its measurable.
