  1. Take pity on the gingers. They can't get laid.
  2. He made 2.64 million last year and is getting 5.35 this year. Not sure what the Cubs offered him but it's been suggested that they tried to add 2016-2018 to this year and next for a total just over $55 million and got no traction.
  3. Not to mention that he was making under $800k with Toronto and Florida gave him something like $41 million over 7 years, while Toronto was talking 3 years and 15 million. It was around that anyway.
  4. Leiter never asked to be traded to Toronto, Cito was apparently a dick to him and he and Randy Knorr kinda hated each other.
  5. There's the rub. The trade would come sans extension.
  6. Actually Gose, Nay, Tirado and Sierra is what I heard and why AA backed off. Also rumored that AA wanted a deal that included Barney with Shark but who knows? Rumors seemed to be close to an actual deal that would get made a few years ago. Now they are often crap leaked by agents or a club staffer or even some idiot new reporter throwing darts onto Twitter.
  7. Shark screams breakout all-star. Love him. Question is whether he's worth Gose, Nay and Tirado.
  8. Tony Batista might very well be the nicest person to ever wear a Blue Jays uniform. The guy pretty much has the personality of Pinball Clemons.
  9. Canseco and Gruber. The royal family of douches. Arencibia doesn't even come close to those clowns.
  10. Joey McLaughlin, Danny Darwin, Joey Hamilton and Mark Hendrickson.
  11. Would be the thrill of a lifetime for the kid and his glove and legs are MLB ready. Give him two weeks on the bench if he continues to play well and if Gose/Pillar are still struggling. Not the end of the world.
  12. He has no options. He hit in September. He has a cannon arm. And Gose and Pillar are having an awful time this Spring. I'd be tempted to keep Kenny on the team for a week or two to let Pillar and Gose get regular at bats in Buffalo and to send the message that players get rewarded for coming to camp ready to play. I couldn't care less about Wilson losing an option. He's not a future starter.
  13. To be fair, he just turned 24 in January and he has come a long way from when he was drafted as a toolsy athlete. His OPS in the recent AFL season was .725 and he stole 12 bases in 23 games and he's currently having a heck of a Spring Training with the Jays. His work ethic and attitude are fantastic. He may turn into a decent ballplayer yet. He looks like a future 4th outfielder to me and I said that last year too. I don't think that he'll ever be an everyday player, at least not a good one, but I don't see a total flop here... not once the strikeouts come down more.
  14. Didi Gregorius from Arizona has to be a top target for them.
  15. While I'm inclined to agree with you, I'm starting to believe that Romero can pitch his way into the rotation with the time remaining in Spring Training. I am assuming Happ on the DL though. With Redmond struggling and McGowan not getting enough innings, I see it as possible.
  16. Thought of that but really, can he play there at this point?
  17. More worrisome is who will back up CF? It is pretty hard to play your way onto or off a team as a position player in ST unless there is a true bubble battle but Gose and Pillar are each managing to play their way to Buffalo. It's not like Kenny Williams is making the club. That would leave Sierra as the 4th outfielder, EE as an emergency outfielder and Bautista as the emergency CF. This can't happen.
  18. He has 5 years service time.
  19. McGowan also has enough service time and being that his goal is to start, will accept assignment to start in Buffalo if he isn't ready to do so with Toronto by Opening Day. Redman is out of options but hasn't pitched well thus far.
  20. McGowan has looked bad? I guess if you look at a 4 inning ERA. He sure isn't giving up hits and he is outperforming Morrow to date.
  21. Two things jump to mind. The first is that his behavior sounds like that of a drunk person. Did the cops cut him a huge break and not breathalize him? Second thing is that his age jumps out. Plenty of respectable and classy adults have had moments of complete stupidity at his age.
  22. That said they'd likely want a boatload of talent.
  23. There's speculation that they will trade him this year. A few weeks prior to ST, his being moved before opening day was not considered out of the question. It still may not be. They have depth in pitching prospects. This is the Marlins and they have to be very aware that his trade value is best prior to next season, his last at 1 million, his last before being arbitration eligible.
  24. It's all silly. The Marlins will trade Jacob Turner to the first team willing to overpay with prospects. I'm not suggesting a gross overpayment but AA has dealt with them before. Turner has looked great this Spring. Just figure out a deal and pull the trigger.
