  1. You're missing the point. Ok, let me break it down for you. Player A and Player B are equal at batting and baserunning. Player A and Player B are also equal at first base. Player A only plays first base, and is completely incapable of playing anywhere else. Player B can play left field, but does a very poor job at it. Which player is more valuable to the team? Which player is more likely to have a higher fWAR (assuming Player B gets a lot of innings in left field)?
  2. If the Jays didn't hate KC enough already, Volquez is certainly bringing it to the next level. This is the same guy that broke Springer's wrist with a pitch, so maybe he should STFU, when a player is concerned about his erratic pitching. Also, is Gibbons gonna get a multi-game suspension. WTF was he doing on the field after he was already ejected?
  3. Colabello deserves a spot on the Jays. Guy is hitting a ton. Sure, his defense is not great, but I love having his clutch bat in the lineup. Unlike Edwin, he can at least play in the outfield. Playing multiple positions (even poorly) makes you a MORE valuable player, but Fangraphs doesn't think so. You kiddies need to stop basing everything on fWar, and use your eyes once in a while.
  4. Take defense out of the equation, and I think Colabello is a better hitter than Valenica, and I think they're looking at Colabello as a platoon/DH/1B/pinch hitter.
  5. What's going on? Did he ban o2?
  6. I don't mind Revere, love Price, and like the reliever we got. But eight players, to rent three guys for two months doesn't seem like a great long-term strategy, especially when other teams are actually picking up controllable players for similar returns. I guess this is what happens when you give your GM a deadline to make the playoffs or else. Completely sacrifice the future for a win-now approach.
  7. I think you guys dislike Revere because he's overrated in 5x5 leagues. But otherwise, he's a solid player, who gets a lot of hits, and at the very least is a great weapon to have on the bench for his baserunning skills alone.
  8. Yeah, Based on that logic , we could offer our revised #1, #2, and #3 prospects for Carrasco.
  9. Seeing how the Dodgers and Astros got multiple controllable pieces for their prospects, and their prospects weren't as good as Norris, it kind of makes you wonder why we spent so much to acquire Price for two months. I guess the assumption is that we wiin the wildcard, and have Price pitching for us in that game. It will be nice to have an ace in the postseason.
  10. We don't even need a pitcher this good. We just need a guy who can put up an ERA/DICE/FIP in the low 4's, with the ridiculous offense we have. This deal reeks of AA sacrificing the future of the Jays to try and make the postseason to try and save his job. .500 teams really shouldn't be trading good prospects away for 2 month rental pitchers.
  11. Yeah, me too. I think it's because they were the co-captains of the Greenwood hate club for awhile.
  12. Let's not give AA too much credit. After all, he is the guy who took on the Reyes contract in the first place.
  13. I'm just glad AA didn't trade off prospects for a one year rental. This is very exciting, and even helps the bullpen a little. Now, we just need to pick up one more starter, and we're looking playoff bound. I expect AA to go all in, and give up any remaining prospect stock we have left. His contract is on the line and he doesn't give a f, about the Jays chances five years from now. I will say that AA has been doing an excellent job of scouting and drafting pitchers.
  14. I like how he cites college degree, because we all know those great scholars in the NBA and NFL work so hard to deserve those degrees.
  15. I don't understand. Does he think pitchers have control of fly balls going over the fence or not?
  16. I can't find the power rankings anymore. I saved the page, but the pages seem to have changed.
  17. I think there's a rule that if a guy has enough service time, he can refuse to go to the minors without losing his contract.
  18. Yeah, I've been bitching about this for awhile. But, it's not just the rookies. It's also the veterans. A guy gets lit up once, and they send him packing. Our Greek GM has to blame someone when something goes wrong. It doesn't create a great atmosphere, and doesn't do much to calm a pitcher's nerves, when he knows one more bad pitch, and he's riding the bus. Especially, with pitchers, you need to give them a medium leash, until they get to the point where they can relax and feel comfortable instead of second-guess themselves. AA doesn't get that.
  19. Could be that Vlad Jr (and his team) are having second thoughts after seeing the big money some of the other guys are getting.
  20. If this was an online fantasy game, you would bench Navarro all the time. But in real life, you have to give AB to guys, so they have a chance at getting a contract next year. Now, even if you don't give a s*** about the person, you still need to watch your team's reputation. If you have a rep for treating the backup players like dirt, you're going to have a much tougher time signing your bench/depth players.
  21. 1) No thank you. We don't need to give up most of our young talent for a massive contract, that we could just pluck out of free agency for nothing. This team would be so much better off, if we never traded for Buehrle, Reyes and Johnson. We have young talent coming through the pipeline. Let's just stay the course. 2) Why is he using terms like 'open-minded'. We're asking him to join the Blue Jays, not perform some sexually deviant acts here.
  22. Well, because the two times I've played in leagues with you, you abandoned your team, a third of the way through the season. Then you were anointed to replace a previously very active owner, with promises to be more active. And I gave it a chance, but it's just more of the same. And that annoys me. If you were active in your leagues, I wouldn't have any problems with you.
  23. Maybe with Stanton out, you can focus your attention on the #LOD, where you have no 2nd baseman or 3rd baseman, Dalton Pompey in CF, and Zach Walters in the Utility spot.
  24. Yeah, but I bet you're not allowed to swim in it without some sort of swimming certification, two lifeguards on duty, and proof that you haven't eaten anything in the last thirty minutes.
